I think an art gallery could be neat! The pets could be based off of all sorts of creative mediums: painting, writing, sculptures, photography, arts and crafts, music, etc. Some pets could even be references to certain well-known pieces/artists or imitations of art styles! Dress-up items could include art pieces or things used to make them, along with maybe some typical gallery items (frames, pedestals, barriers, etc).
Another idea is for the event to be based off of a kid's bedroom. You'd find all sorts of fun toy-like pets there; game pieces, plushies, action figures, models, and so on. Some of the dress-up items could be based off of things that kids usually dress up as too- princesses, super heroes, doctors/nurses, monsters, fairies, you get the deal- while others could be more along the lines of everyday clothing or pajamas. Or you could forgo the dress-up part and just make the items a bunch of cute little toys.
Maybe the event's environment and the types of pets you get change as the kid 'grows up', starting with infant/toddler stuff and working its way up to pre-teen, teens, or even young adult. If it goes as far as young adult, then the last day of new content could have worn pets that are rediscovered once they're (whoever 'they' might be) all grown up as they're preparing to move out, maybe even with some of the pets looking like old well-loved versions of pets previously obtained in the event.
One last idea is for the event to be based in a history and/or mythology museum! A lot of what I've been seeing has had to do with older stuff (steampunk, Greek mythology, and renaissance faires being the biggest ones), so why not roll it all into one to allow for a wider variety of cultures and time periods to be represented? It's basically just a melting pot of all of the past/myth-related ideas, but it could be neat to see!
