Sid approaches the rest of the world with caution and puts up a front of sarcasm and stubbornness to keep people from getting too close. She's not very quick to trust, though often times you would never notice. It's not uncommon for friends she's known for years to wake up one day and realize they don't know anything about her. She often prefers to handle things by herself because she's convinced she's the only one who can do things right, and she especially doesn't like putting anything important into someone else's hands. If she has a problem with you, you'll know sooner rather than later. She's not shy about confronting people, and she has a thick skin. She has near-unshakable confidence in herself, and she knows she has both the determination and intelligence needed to accomplish anything she puts her mind to. She's not a complete jerk, though. She can be empathetic and even nurturing under the right circumstances. It just takes the right push to get her to let herself be that vulnerable. If she's decided she trusts you and thinks you're competent, then her abrasive front will start to crack a little, and she can be surprisingly sociable.

Sid never knew her father, but never really cared to meet him. She always had better things to worry about than some deadbeat. Her mother was never a particularly competent mom. When Sid was young, she tried her best, but from Sid's perspective, she just gave up after a while, and that became especially apparent after the accident. When Sid was 14, her mother picked her up from school inebriated, and they got into a car accident. Sid's leg was crushed in the crash, and it had to be amputated. The court got involved when the cause of the accident was determined, and she was sent to live with her aunt and uncle. That Christmas, after her mother got a day pass from the treatment center to spend Christmas morning with her family, was the last time Sid spoke to her. She's cut off all contact since, and she still resents her mother for what she did. According to her uncle, her mother has been sober for three years, but she's still not willing to forgive her yet. She's currently going to school to become a toxicologist, and she refuses to psychoanalyze the implications of that.

trivia
⌬ Loves collecting weird and dangerous things that no sane person should have. Her "rock collection" is the most questionable, as it contains things like asbestos and pure arsenic. At first her aunt begged her not to bring the collection with her to college, until she realized that meant she would have to babysit the deadly rocks, so she relented. At least Sid knows how to keep them contained.
⌬ Also has a bug collection. She's got butterflies, moths, beetles, and other things. She left the largest cases at home, but she did take her favorite collection with her to college. It's a small glass case with a few butterfly species native to Asia, along with an Asian giant hornet. The hornet in particular gets a lot of concerned comments from visitors to her apartment.
⌬ Doesn't try to hide her prosthetic in every day life, but doesn't like to show it off either. She gets really sick of answering questions about it, but she does have a sense of humor, especially when it comes to Halloween costumes or pranking new friends.
⌬ Doesn't drink or do drugs of any kind, and she becomes positively insufferable when it comes to making sure her drunk friends get home safe after a night out. She doesn't bother to tell most people why (because she doesn't think they need to know) so she's gotten the reputation around campus as a reliable DD, but also as a terrible buzzkill.

Timber never makes Sid deny her anger. Most of the time Sid is able to keep everything under control until she has the chance to let it out at the gym, but with Timber in her head, that's become a lot more difficult. She feels more irritable and explodes more readily, but she doesn't hate that. Sometimes she gets tired of holding everything together, and with an angry wolf in her head now, she feels like she has every excuse to let go once in a while.

Met through their chemistry classes at school, and spent a semester as lab partners. They hit it off almost immediately, and they've been friends ever since. She calls him Bear, because he's big an intimidating (and it's also shorter than Tiberius.) She likes having someone in her life who will push back when she blows up while still treating her like an equal. He understands that Sid is a very independent person and that she needs to do her own thing, and she understands that he's a competent person who has everyone's best interests in mind. He can usually make her see reason, and she doesn't usually have a problem with letting him take charge and call the shots. Teasing him is a favorite pastime of hers, and she loves to give him crap, feigning innocence and unsubtly guilt tripping him about bullying a disabled person, which of course he doesn't buy for a second.

Blanche / Silverback: ✩
Blanche brings out the side of Sid that is untouched by cynical irony. She's such a genuinely sweet weirdo, and her curiosity about the strange and deadly pierces right through Sid's walls. Any conversation with Blanche is a treat, and she's so easy to like that Sid doesn't even mind the fact that she's such a mess. Aren't they all?
Ashton / Midnight: ∅/➵
Ooh he drives her crazy. She hates how quickly and easily she fell for him after they started sparring together. A dumb pretty boy makes a few smart comments and proves he's not afraid to knock her on her ass during a match, and suddenly she's feeling things. It's disgusting. She hates feeling that vulnerable, and she hates feeling beholden to anyone, even if it's her own decision, so of course she's going to make that everyone else's problem. Neither of them are good at opening up, and they're certainly not willing to back down when things get heated, which often leads to explosive fights, but at the same time they can't seem to stay away from each other.
Jacob / Greybeard: ☯
She's sort of a jerk to him without really meaning to be. He's so quiet and easy-going that she often forgets that he's a person with his own thoughts and feelings, and she can easily steamroll right over him in a conversation. After Jacob gets his wolf and becomes more outspoken, she gets a little annoyed with him speaking up, because from her perspective all of this discontent is coming out of nowhere.
