When using the box, you keep it all within the column under a single [left ][/left ] command.
So the images above and below said box do not need a left command surrounding them. This is what was pushing your image down.

@albert, i was thinking it was because the person was too wide.
another thing you can do is instead of resizing it, make the text box skinnier and smaller. remember that signatures can hold only 700x400 (400 pixels isn't a lot, honestly).
