We recently finally cut off our abusive birthfamily. It’s been… rough. On all of us. We weren’t planning on it, we still wanted to keep in touch if only to have some way of keeping up with our dying grandma (she cant even use her phone anymore…), but. Our birthmom tried again to guilt trip us for moving out, to act like we were cruel for being afraid of her, and we just … couldn’t anymore. Sudi chewed her out, about some of the things she’s done, and cut her off.

We’re so thankful to be free from them now, but… it’s been rough. Traumas resurfacing, fearing retaliation (we live several states away now and never told her our real address, but she’s tried convincing us before that she could track our devices, so we’re a bit paranoid about that-), and just… coping with knowing we can never see our grandma again.


(Symbolisms:
Split = struggle with identity. She never saw us for who we were, no matter who or what we were. We struggle with feeling human, because we were never treated as such.
Overall static = dissociation.
Static / glitch in eyes = panic attack
Red and blue lights = cop lights. From when we had to call the cops on her in elementary school, and when she called the cops on us for leaving her in our 20s.
Faded broken heart = The heartbreak of realising the one who was supposed to be our mother - our protector - was the cause of our trauma, and of having to lose the one family member who did truly love and care for us (our grandma).)

Yes so remember skarr girl i got? She's got backstory now (YAHOO!)

Merril is a mottled skarr x mantis hybrid (don't ask how mantis got to pharloom). Her parents first meeting was a vicious battle for territory, ending when both parties were at their limits, and the skarr was severely injured on accident. Instead of killing her, the mantis nursed her back to health and they watched each other's backs from that day onwards. Unfortunately, the mantis was unfamiliar with the land and it's inhabitants, and the skarr was left permanently scarred from their first encounter, so they struggled greatly to maintain their hold over their territory.

This eventually led the two to try the pilgrimage to the citadel to provide their young, vulnerable, and very meek daughter an opportunity for a peaceful upbringing. Yeah. guess who got last judged. I'm still figuring out if I should kill her parents off now or in a timeskip, but either way they gotta die before/during act 3 (I DON'TTT want to make them ref sheets).

Anyway, she grew up as a guard in the citadel so she has the usual guard attire, but she fashioned her own scythe out of bone like her skarr parent taught her to. Eventually, she goes back to far fields (where she was raised) to visit her parent's grave. The one I drew is mantis parent's bc I like to believe they gave him a more hallownest-esque burial (and also, hallownest gravestones look cool)

WOW i have not actually finished a drawing in forever... i have a lot in drafts. this is owed art ;;

my computer is like. working but about to break, so i need to buy a new one. i'm really worried about it so i'm scrambling to finish my schoolwork and this piece. i'm so stressed out actually guys wow uni planning is really tough ;; especially when i'm doing it on my own, yaknow? i'm sorry if my responses are slow. i read and appreciate every single comment and it is sincerely appreciated. i love cs, it's seriously such a comfort site. a lot of the time i browse on my phone so i am at least online

i think i've just really lost the motivation to do a lot of things, it's not just drawing. this isn't meant as a vent or whatever, it's more of a comment. i've enjoyed cleaning and organizing things, and i've cleaned up a lot of the space in our house. my room is spotless and for the first time in years i have a proper bed (i sneakily bought a bedframe/boards!). it's nice to have proper linens, too. i hope my computer holds out in time for me to finish this work. i am actually so nervous haha. things have been really really hard but coming on here and rambling in my oekaki descriptions always makes me feel better xD i hope that everyone is well 💗
