Orias raised his head, staring unblinkingly at the horizon ahead of him.
This was an opportunity to prove himself.

Orias was one of three other Recruits, which are young cats seeking a purpose in the Guild. The group was tasked with a special mission. One which would shape the life of the Guild, one that would bring benefits if done correctly. And that was to explore the surrounding territory. Ahead lay unknown lands, places spoken about in mere tales. ''Ready?''

The first day was hard enough. The four cats had to trek across terrain they had never encountered before in their territory.
After crossing the Cryptic Beyond's border, danger was imminent...

With the first night, they encountered strange creatures. Flying animals that dove at them, four legged creatures that when emitting noise, sent chills down their spines. The four found shelter inside an oak tree, hollowed out by countless erosion from the elements. They slept soundly, and they switched between one another to keep watch at all times.

The second day, they continued, after a rather nice rest and a meal.

Long ago, back when Mudslide didn't even have a name, there was a horrible storm that ravaged the Fishstep ruins. She was hiding out in an abandoned house near the edge of town, regretting her choice to explore the forest that day more and more with each lightning strike. She didn't dare to move, until she heard a commotion from within the forest. Going outside was dangerous, but it sounded like someone could be in trouble. Mustering up all the courage a kitten could have, she rushed out to see what'd happend.

Reaching where the noise had come from, she realized that the rain from the storm had made the ground unstable, and a good chunk of a hill had fallen on top of a cat! She dug with all her might, fur slowly becoming an odd gray-brown with mud, until she pulled the stranger out from the mud. They might've offered thanks, but the wind and rain drowned out any words spoken, and soon the only trace of the cat was a hole dug in the mud.

When she returned home after the storm, front legs still stained by the mud, no one questioned her story. She was soon given the name Mudslide to remember her kindness and bravery towards others, a name she wears with pride.
