- Designs made under the Adopt Hub should be made with the intent that they will be registered obakefolk and used within the species. Do not create unrelated designs or designs you do not intend to register under this thread.
- Do not delete or cover up references for registered obakefolk on their registration page. If you do not want the image in your gallery anymore, contact a staff member so a new registration page can be made.
- If you are making designs with the intent to adopt them out to others, please indicate in your main post that they are meant to be part of Obakefolk and provide a link back to the main thread so that adopters can be acquainted with the species.
- After posting an Obakefolk design, the designer must fill out a pre-registration form indicating ownership transfer guidelines and any items used. If this form is not filled out, the obake will not be able to be registered.
- All designs created for Obakefolk must be CS-appropriate.
- All registered obakefolk must have a reference that clearly shows their design and indicates their elemental type.
- You may not use restricted traits on your designs without the appropriate item. Items can be acquired at the Shop.
- You may never use illegal traits on your designs.
- The designs of registered obakefolk cannot be significantly modified without the use of an item. Small design adjustments, such as minor marking modifications or slight color shifts, can be made with staff approval without an item.
- All obakefolk must be original designs. Design theft will not be tolerated. At this time, there is no method to “transfer” pre-existing designs into Obakefolk.
- Obakefolk may not be direct copies of copyrighted designs. Loose inspiration is okay; contact a staff member if you are unsure.
- Because of their nature as spirits, obakefolk don’t have a way to “breed” in any official capacity. However, feel free to create “breeding” or fusion type designs yourself if you see fit, provided you have both owners’ permission.
- All obakefolk should have a non-humanoid skull for a head. The exact appearance of this skull is up to you, and does not have to directly correspond to a real species. The skull may (or may not) have a visible jawbone, as you wish.
- Make sure not to add limited or higher traits unless you have an appropriate item. If such an item is used, record it in the Archive Update Hub.
- Obakefolk have “chibi” proportions - they should be around 3-5 heads tall.
- Each obakefolk should have their elemental affiliation clearly indicated on their reference, and their object should be clearly visible.
- It’s fine to make adopt sheets with multiple obakefolk, as long as separate registration threads for each adopt are provided under Colored In.
- Turn the red "OPEN" banner layer off if the obake you create is not open to be adopted by others.

What are obakefolk? wrote:Obakefolk (/ˈo.ba.ke.foʊk/, singular obake) are small elemental guardian spirits. An obake's appearance can vary wildly depending on their personality, aesthetic, and element, but all obakefolk are bipedal and have an animal skull for a head. Most are around 60-90cm (2-3 feet) tall, but obakefolk have been observed as short as 45cm and as tall as 110cm. Traits such as horns, ears, and tails are also common among obakefolk, and many wear some type of coat, cape, or scarf. Traditional folklore supposes that obakefolk can commune with the dead, but this doesn’t seem to be a real ability, and is rather an assumption made due to their skeletal appearance.
Each obake is affiliated to one of several elements, and carries an object accordingly. These objects are enchanted to contain the core essence of the obake, so it is important that an obake keeps their object safe. Currently, the elements of earth (terrariums), fire (lanterns), and water (canteens) are known, but it is likely that other elements exist. Obake are capable of small feats of magic related to their element so long as they are near their object.
Obakefolk are an open species, meaning anyone is allowed to make and adopt out designs provided they follow the rules & guidelines!
Make sure to thoroughly read & understand both this thread and the Main Thread before posting. You must mark the main thread before being added to create adopts.
Looking for obakefolk to adopt? Open obakefolk are marked with a red "OPEN" banner in the upper left corner.
[IMPORTANT] After creating or adopting an obake, make sure you register them! To register them, you'll need to fill out a form at the Registration Hub. This form must be filled out before a staff member can create your obake's registration post and enter them in the archive.
