Pīchi never really knew how much fear he had, especially when it came to the fear of being abandoned. They thought that the fear wasn't so bad at all, and that it was just a little bit of a worry that came to his head every now and again. He never thought that he'd actually have enough fear to go into some sort of breakdown. He loved his family and friends so much, of course he'd be scared of them leaving him in any way, shape, or form, but for some reason, the fear of abandonment rang clearer than the others.
He never believed that he could feel fear so intensely, always being labelled as the brave one of the group who never seemed to cower in the face of anyone or anything. Pīchi just always seemed to assume that there was nothing to be scared about. He always had his friends by his side, and he always had a home to return to at the end of the day, and that was enough to make him feel stable and happy. He felt safe from abandonment, knowing it would never happen to him out of all babusagi.
The fear only truly made itself known to Pīchi one night when his father wasn't home at his usual time. At first, the babusagi thought he just got caught up in some rush, or was busy with something else, or had some kind of other thing to do after work, like yoga or laundry. But then thirty minutes became an hour, and the hour turned into two hours, and before Pīchi could understand quite as well as he should have, it was almost 3 in the morning, and his father was still gone. Pīchi stayed up all night waiting for him to return home, but as he sat by the door and played with his video games, he couldn't help but realize just how afraid he was of being abandoned.
Pīchi wondered if his father didn't love him anymore, he wondered if his father had run off somewhere to abandon him and his family because he didn't want to be around them anymore. Pīchi couldn't help but think that the scenario in his head was all his fault. He was the one who was always a bother around the house, he was always the one who caused problems for the family when he didn't mean to, he was the one who would cause his father to abandon them.
Pīchi almost had a complete breakdown at the thought, but before he could do anything dramatic or possibly dangerous, his father came home and saw him panicking on the ground. It turned out that Pīchi's father was just late because he had to visit someone who needed his help with an animal they rescued. All of that fear, just to know that everything was alright. Pīchi thought he wasn't that bad when it came to being afraid, but he'll always be terrified of being abandoned.
