Drawing cats?

Postby Munashii » Sun Feb 28, 2010 12:30 pm

K.. so I kinda need help drawing cats. The way I draw cats, the paws never look right unless viewed from the front and mouth is really giving me a hard time. Any tips on how to make it look right? :S

(Oh yes, and if this is in the wrong Forum, please tell me so I can have it deleted or something. Thanks^^)

You're not the only one with cat-drawing problems. ._. I've pretty much given up on drawing. I simply cannot draw cats, no matter how much I try. You're also not the only one with paw problems! x3

Fortunately, I'm not completely terrible at drawing the mouth. C: When I draw the mouth, it's often the second thing that I draw. After I've drawn the circle for the head, I draw a smaller circle for the muzzle. It should stick out a bit and overlap the bottom line of the head, but not too much. Then, lightly draw some lines to connect the bottom circle to the top.

Ack, I'll just make you a picture. I'm not good at explaining things.

It will look much better on paper, of course. I'd say I did good enough for five minutes... Cx

Thank you Seasonal^^ I kinda thought the jaw/mouth would kinda be around the bottom of the circle, but not overlapping. o-o That REALLY helped with the mouth. Again, thanks^^

It depends on what position the cat is in. ^^; Also, it depends on what breed it is. If you were doing a hairless cat, for example, the b;ue circle would be an oval. If a cat is looking slightly down, its head is a circle. You'll have to experiment with which poses you're best at and see what works. ^^;
