Frogs are amphibians, not reptiles.

About 3 years ago I got this girl from Petco (my area takes excellent care of their pets there)

This was Louie 3 years ago the day I got her.

^^ aa i love louie!!! she's absolutely adorable, i've always wanted to own a lizard
of some sort, they're sweet little things.

      anyways,,
i forgot to mention a few weeks ago as an update on my turtle zeus i rescued from some kid across the street,
he actually had an even smaller one, and luckily he took 5 bucks for it. now zeus has a little friend, and we
named the turtle aeros, i'd show a pic of them in their little tank but i'm actually currently at a hotel. when
i get home though, (which i believe we'll be leaving on monday) i'll definitely get a pic of them c: i'm just so
happy i was able to rescue them both, and that they'll now both grow happily without living in the conditions
they were. i couldn't believe they were still alive when i saw it. oh yeah, they're red eared sliders so they'll
get a bunch bigger than they are now, however i definitely plan to keep them and just continue to increase
the size of their tank as they grow. ever since i was little i've loved reptiles and amphibians, so i'm excited
to watch them grow healthy and happy aa

so... i got a crested gecko.
i initially wanted a leopard gecko, and was planning on getting one at a reptile expo in august
but then my friend told me about this person she knew who had a crested gecko, and was neglecting it.
this girl had been very uneducated about crested gecko care, however she didn't want to take the time to educate herself and just decided to give him away.
my heart ached for this poor guy, so of course i took him in.

his name is kovu, and he's 9-12 years old (his previous owner has no idea of his exact age)
i put him into a heavily planted tank, with lots of logs and plants to hide in, and he's settling in quite well!
he's currently eating repashy, however i wanted to add more of a variety to his diet.

last night i tried feeding him live crickets (gut-loaded and dusted in calcium), however he just stared at it. his pupils dilated and it seemed like he was interested in it, however he didn't try eating it.

so, my question is, is there any way i can get him to eat live food? and if not, is there anything else i can feed him (along with repashy)? i know you can give them fruit, but what kind?

      thank you!
my dream pets are the mini huskies from christmas 2008 :)

@sunflower

So great you rescued the little guy!

Crested can eat a variety of bugs however most fruit the calcium to phosphorus ratio is off. (Always use fresh fruit never baby food or applesauce or fruit cups etc) In addition to Repashy you can check out Pangea as the have several flavors. They also have a Breeders formula with higher protein for growing geckos, so if your new guy is on the thin side I highly suggest using this to get his weight up and build some muscle. (Go to www.pangeareptile.com)

GOOD FRUIT you can feed in moderation (once or twice a month, as a treat): Pureed Papaya, Fig, Mango.
OK FRUIT you can feed rarely : Pureed Banana
BAD FRUIT to avoid never feed: Citrus (orange, lime, lemon), Avacado , Starfruit, Rhubarb

For bugs you can also try Dubia Roaches (illegal in Florida though), Discoid, rarely you can try Wax Worms (high in fats) and Hornworms . If he definitely won't eat bugs, you can try adding some Cricket Powder to his food for the extra protein. It's like eating the bugs but without having to deal with live bugs lol.

Hope this helps :) YOu can also check this page here for other fruits Ca:Ph ratios though remember the Citrus and High acid fruits are not good to feed > link here <

I have no experience with geckos, but maybe he'll eat freeze-dried crickets? If you hide it in his food he might eat it, kind of like space fox said with cricket powder
