I promise im still around i just keep forgetting to use this art program, rip.....
anyhow some of my friends have been asking how ive been able to pull off the snowy mountain look so well lately so i just felt like randomly making a quick tutorial, or rather more of a "how i do it" kind of thing lol. I also had absolutely no clue where i should have put this so into the objects / abstract forum it goes. xD
Step 1: sketching and then drawing out the basic shape of your mountains. When you color it in, use a very light / near white color (it seems counter intuitive to start off with that color but trust me on this lol)
Step 2. Pick out some kind of dark color, be it dark brown, dark gray, or what have you as long as its much darker in contrast to your light color you started off with. IDEALLY you would want to have an art program that has a brush with an acrylic paint texture option but since this is chickenpaint and we dont have that luxury you will want to turn on scattering to a low-ish setting (something around 50-60 or so) with pressure sensitivity turned on.
Now create a new layer and clip it onto the base mountain layer and then start painting in random splotches, keeping in mind the shape and slope of the mountains themselves as you do this. Go as ham (or not) as you want, depending on how much snow you want on your mountains. ^^ Experiment with different brush sizes too while youre at it!
Step 3 (entirely optional): Make it fancy!
Now that you have your mountain range, feel free to add trees, clouds, shading, whatever you would like to build the scene further, again keeping in mind the shape / slopes of the mountains to add dimension and all that good stuff to it.
Well that's pretty much it, im typically pretty bad at explaining things but hopefully i made some sense here? xD
