"CARMINE!" A voice screamed.

Carmine knew that scream all too well, it was his father. He had been reprimanded his entire life. Carmine was always expected to be perfect at everything he touched. As the heir to his father's company, he couldn't afford to make mistakes.

However, Carmine always dreamed of something bigger. He wanted to sing for thousands, no, millions. He dreamed of standing on a stage while everyone chanted out his name.

"Carmine! Carmine! Carmine!"

He couldn't bear to tell his family this wild dream. Carmine wasn't even sure they'd talk to him again, let alone look at him.

As he day-dreamed at the table eating breakfast his father screamed out his name again. Carmine grunted while getting up, but what he saw standing at the top of the stairs was going to change his life forever. His father held his crumpled-up Miku poster. He had never seen him this red before. Carmine knew that his secret had just been exposed. So many emotions flowed over him at once: relief, shame, embarrassment, fear. Carmine turned around and walked out the door as his father screamed. He was scared, but it was time to follow his path.

Kalissa let the letter drop from her paws and wracked her brain, picnic place... there was only one place it could be, she sprinted out the door and towards the grassy hill.

A treasure hunt of clues for kalentine's day, she was so thrilled, anyone who would do all this for her would surely have a heart of gold and sweep her off her feet when she found out who they were, and from the clue clutched in her paws, the next letter would reveal the wonderful stranger.

As she crested the hill her heart soared, there was a beautiful picnic set up, lit by a glowing lantern and with a final sealed envelope nestled carefully into the basket. She plucked it from its perch and fell back with the biggest smile of her life plastered across her face.

This was it! this letter would reveal her biggest secret!

lazarus had a few things he'd consider "secrets." his favorite tv show was the nanny; his middle name was fabio; he had a secret instagram account where he posted thirst traps of pedro pascal.
all things he'd rather not be known.
but the secret he would never, ever tell?
well.
that would be the spectral pain-in-the-ass that had a penchant for hanging over his shoulders.

lazarus, renowned for his abilities in fortuneteller and soothsaying, was a complete hack. every impossibly accurate palm reading? none of it was his own ability.
he simply parroted whatever the ghost would whisper in his ear.
he was a glorified ventriloquist.

the worst part was, the ghost's demands for payment weren't typical soul bargaining or first-born child deals. instead, the damned spirit demanded the most bizarre food combinations lazarus had ever seen. a tuna sandwich smothered in maple syrup, or a double cheeseburger with peanut butter and jelly.

no matter how absurd the request, though, lazarus complied. the last thing he needed was a pissed off ghost haunting him for eternity because he couldn't stomach a pineapple-egg sandwich.


after all, a man's reputation was worth sacrificing some dignity and a few taste buds, right?

june would love for you to believe she’s a woman of her word, but that wouldn’t entirely be the truth. sure, she’s reliable in most senses, but she’s nothing if not a gossip. her charisma is infectious, and her rosy cheeks and glimmering pink-lipped smile are usually enough for her to have anyone hanging on her every word — and june absolutely loves it. she’s by no means a manipulator, never using her charm to benefit herself in any tangible way; except for the collection of others’ secrets. nothing gives june a rush like knowing something about someone that nobody else does. it’s invigorating; the feeling that she’s been indoctrinated into some special club of knowledge-holders. and, of course, she would never tell a soul. except her best friend, because what kind of person would june be if she kept anything from her closest confidant? and, i mean, sometimes a conversations with an acquaintance will broach the subject of a secret she’s been keeping so perfectly, and… telling one more person couldn’t hurt, right? of course, nobody could ever know june’s a gossip; that’d ruin the fun. who’d ever tell her a secret again if they thought she might share it?
