Beetlespark was a very ambitious Softpaw. He always tried his best at everything he did but never seemed to be as good as his littermates. When it was decided he would become a Ministra, he was absolutely devestated. How the young Softpaw saw it, he could never serve his clan and make his Magister proud if he was
just a Ministra. Besides, he didn't even like kits! Yet he understood that the decision of the three Legatus and Sybil Superior were final and he would have to become a Ministra whether he liked it or not. After a few months in training as a Ministra, Beetlespark had enough of his siblings' constant bragging and decided to explore the camp on his own at night. It wasn't long before he found himself completely and utterly lost. In the middle of the night, sitting alone beneath a large cedar tree, Beetlespark thought it was the end for him- being dramatic as most Softpaws are. Fortunately for him, a curious hare approached him, wondering why this predator seemed so sad. Initially, Beetlespark was alarmed that a creature considered food to him would approach him so calmly. Though, curious himself, he decided to try and talk to the hare. To his surprise- and excitement!- the hare talked back. The two of them spent most of the night chatting away, both equally thrilled that they made a new friend. Eventually, Beetlespark explains that he is lost and the hare offers to take him home.
After that night, Beetlespark decided to name the little hare "Cedar" after the tree he was sitting under when he found him. They became friends quickly and were inseparable. Many of his Kinmates were initially weirded out about this new companionship, but they had never seen Beetlespark so happy. They all eventually got used to it themselves and even were accepting of the little companion.
As friends, Beetlespark often spends time in the nursery with the kits. Cedar being as small as a kit himself became a very beloved and popular playmate for all of the kittens. So they would spend each and every day playing "Chase the Hare" with the kits.
