"Rocky is so special... and his way of tackling tasks is just as special. I love this dog, believe me, but he has one braincell and it bounces around like a pinball. I spent three days planning and buying treats and fun toys to put in these plastic eggs and you know what this goofball does? He finds the first egg and runs off with it! He has no idea that there are a bunch of them, he thinks it's just the one! So, technically he only found 1/24 of the eggs I hid... but he was also so pleased with himself for finding it and so excited about the treat inside... how can I call that a failure? As long as he feels fulfilled and happy, it was worth it!"

Prompt: This naughty boy almost ruined Lux Stars Estate's Annual Easter Egg Hunt!

Every year fliers are placed at the local animal shelter, veterinarian offices, groomers, and pet stores. Dogs come from all over the county to seek out eggs dyed in a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns, hoping to get a few treats for their efforts and a chance at the coveted "Egg Hunt Champion" ribbon given to the dog who finds the most eggs.

As the newest dog in the kennel, it was tradition that Storm should be allowed to participate, as a way of welcoming him into the community and introducing him to his neighbors. While he was known to be quite rambunctious, he obeyed commands well enough and was completely friendly, so he was cleared to partake in the event. Boy, was that a mistake!

When the dogs entered the courtyard where the event was to take place, Storm was more interested in greeting the other dogs than in actually searching for anything! He was running around, barking, and generally causing a ruckus. A few cross words got him to take a step back and focus, at which point he found his first egg. Rewarded with his favorite treat (freeze-dried beef lung), he began searching with vigor. Only two eggs later, he realized that the other dogs were finding eggs, too!

At that realization, he immediately ran around and targeted another dog, snatching the egg right out of their mouth and bringing it to his handler! Of course he was not rewarded for this, but that didn't hold him back. He grabbed egg after egg, racing back to his handler and depositing them at her feet. If she wasn't pleased with one egg, or five, or ten, then he simply needed to get more! (At least that was what he thought)...No matter how many times he was told "No", and "Heel", he simply ran about with his tongue lolling out, loving every minute of what he perceived to be his Best Day Ever.

By the time the egg hunt was over, he had gathered a pile of seventeen eggs, far more than any of the other dogs, and tradition dictated that he should have been crowned Egg Hunt Champion, but due to his unsportsman-like conduct, he was disqualified and sent indoors and the eggs were hidden once more so the event could be done properly. At that time the rules were also amended so that in the future all dogs would be leashed during the event.

Whiskey, while a very eager dog, is much better with herding work than scent work. She scoured the whole yard and managed to stumble onto two eggs purely by accident, but kept getting distracted trying to herd the small children, also running around to gather their own eggs. To her credit not a single child wandered off the property, though some did try! Since there were more children than dogs, their hunt was finished quickly and Whiskey was able to focus on finding eggs again. She nosed under rocks and sticks, bringing an especially good one back to her handler before searching for more eggs. By the end of the hunt she hag gathered four eggs out of the thirty that had been hidden, and was very proud of herself.

Prompt: "Little Stron" at first looked confused at their owner, not sure about what he was preparing. With everything ready, the human showed him what the game was about, Thunderhead did honor to their name! Stron didn't stop for hours, looking at every little inch they reached trying to find every easter egg they could in the shape of special dog treats. They sniffed around, ran in circles, they even tried to find eggs in the stables! Their human couldn't laugh more after making sure the dog didn't scare the horses and other animals that were peacefully resting, unaware of what had the liver dog in such a high level of excitement.

Indeed, he loved the activity, practicing his tracking skills but also having some good time with other dogs like Yondalla, who joined them after a while and helped the new dog to find some treats! After such a good day, Stronmaus now rests beside their owner, sleeping peacefully. dreaming about more easter eggs, desiring to celebrate it next year again!
