telltale dusting of powdered sugar clinging to the corners
of her smile. aura was terribly familiar with the scolding
look on her grandmother's face, but faint blush hinted
that perhaps this time, she felt a little something like
embarrassment. caught in the act, sneaking cookies well
before dinnertime. but her grandmother, though rigid
in her rules and so at odds with the modern hipster
tomboy, had an incredible knack for the most delicious
little morsels her granddaughter simply could not resist.
the bite-sized russian teacakes sat neatly stacked on a
decorative tray, and as aura swooped out of the kitchen,
it seemed perhaps more than one was missing from the
otherwise well-ordered arrangement. ❅

fav holiday food; a classic honey glazed ham is 100% my favorite food
to have during the holidays. but if we're talking desserts? buckeyes!! my
mother makes them with graham crackers and we love to sit together during
thanksgiving and before christmas to bake a lot of them for friends and
family. we often take turns doing different parts of the process, like mixing,
rolling the balls, and dipping them into chocolate. it's the most comforting
and nostalgic thing

mocha’s favorite holiday food is queen anne’s cordial cherries! every year around the holidays, they always make sure to buy a couple boxes since they only realt see them around this time of year! they also really love peppermint hot chocolate, but they’re not sure they’d count that as a food. that being said… anything involving chocolate with fruit or peppermint is a must for the holidays for mocha!

“What do you mean I have to choose?” Nutmeg tilts her head, confused, “Wh-“

“Because I’m letting you choose first.” Star Topaz replies with a smile.

“But there are so many! So, so, so many!” Nutmeg exclaims, turning around in a small circle (this was her way of pacing).

“Meg! You’re making me dizzy!” Star says, putting her paws on the other Kalon’s shoulders, holding Meg still. “Close your eyes. And choose.”

“I won’t be able to see... then...” Meg starts then looks at her friend. Star’s face had “that’s the point” written all over it. “Oh.”

Meg thinks for a bit more, sniffing each of the treats on the tables in front of them. There were dishes and desserts- recipes from everywhere around the world.

“I’ve got it!” Meg says suddenly, frightening Star, causing the latter to jump and drop a piece of fruitcake on their paws.

“Ow. I was going to eat that!”

“Sorry! Want to share a plate of cookies?”

“WhAt?”

Meg holds up a plate of Italian wafer cookies, “These!”

“But you ju-“

“Had them an hour ago? Yep! But that was an hour ago!” Meg says as she aggressively opens the package and shoves five of them in her mouth.
