A lava dragon appears blocking your path, what do you use to lure them away?!

( I wanted to write something - hopefully that's ok heh.. ^^ This is set in first-person because I need wayyy more practice with first-person lol )

I stepped forwards. I do not care what waits for me in the dark. I will face the dangers head on.

Well, maybe part of that's a lie. But you don't need to know.

Fire swells up around me, the damp cave air turning to the heat as the dragon breathes. I am careful to control my own breathing. Even a breath can give you away.

But I failed, for the dragon stepped in front of me, growling and huffing as if it was a dog.

I hoped it was like a dog. They were much easier to handle than dragons.

The fiery lava was creeping around me, and my hands went quickly to my bag, ruffling through to grab my supplies. It reached my foot. At least I had a shoe on. But it still burnt. I yelped and moved my feet to a dryer area.

Finally my hands reached around the item that I had been searching for.

A flute.

I pulled it slowly out of my bag. The dragon eyeing me. It let out a huff of fire. The room got a lot hotter. I brought the flute out, and the dragon lunged. I had a feeling that would happen. It got a good scratch in too, my left sleeve had a large rip. I jumped, almost in the lava. Luckily, I didn't land in it. Time to start playing.

Raising my hands to the flute, and the flute to my mouth, I started to blow. The dragon stared at me, and lunged. I had hoped that it was weak when I had seen it, the flute would work much faster if it was. But it wasn't. I got out of the way in time, and kept playing. Now the enchanted flute was working.

I relaxed a bit. Oh curse me! Relaxing was bad when you're on the job! It got me bad luck that moment too, the dragon used the last bit of strength that it had and blew fire at me.

That'll leave a mark.

But now it was sound asleep. Finally, thank luck.

I quickly shoved the flute away. The spell wouldn't stay for long, so I had to go. I started whistling and went on my way.
