Basic Design Guide
Fur โข Eyes โข Whiskers
- Coat colors lean more toward natural and muted unnatural colors, however, it is not uncommon for small amounts of bright color to be present, acting as an โaccentโ color.
- Eyes have slit pupils, glow, and more often than not are bright colors. Heterochromia is possible as a rare trait.
- Whisker pads are always present with the exception of the tufts trait.
Accessories & Non-genetic Traits
Tattoos โข Paints โข Scars โข Injuries โข Clothes โข Jewelry
- Any gemlong may exhibit paints or tattoos, scars, or injuries (including missing body parts such as legs or eyes). However, none of these items are genetic and will not be passed on to children.
- Accessories are permitted, ranging from small piercings and jewelry to hats, bands, capes, and clothes. If accessories wind up covering more than a small amount of the design, a separate reference is required showing the gemlong without accessories.
Common TraitsHair โข Beard โข Mane โข Tail
- Gemlongs' hair and beards can grow longer and in various textures, such as silky or curly. It's popular for those with longer hair to even tie up or style it!
- The fur around gemlongs' neck can also grow into a longer mane. This could range from just a little bit fluffy to dragging on the ground!
- Gemlongs' tails are usually short-haired with a tuft at the end, but it's possible for them to have more or less fluff! Some gemlongs have long, flowing tails; others can be almost bald!
Uncommon TraitsClaws โข Fangs โข Tufts โข Ridge
- While gemlongs already have canine teeth that protrude from their lips, occasionally one will have even longer fangs than usual!
- The claws of gemlongs are stubby and non-retractable. Sometimes gemlongs have very long, large, or monster-like claws!
- Gemlongs can grow "tufts" of hair from their elbows and ankles. Tufts also turns their whiskers into long, dragon-like whiskers!
- When a mane is present, it can spread along the gemlong's back, resulting in a ridge!
Rare TraitsHorns โข Heterochromia
- Some gemlongs are born with horns! These horns are always crystalline, and match the color of the gemlong's eyes. Horns appear as a single pair on the head.
- Rarely, gemlongs can have complete on centralized heterochromia. In the case of a gemlong with both horns and heterochromia, the color split is present in the horns as well, either as completely different colors or as a gradient running along the horns.
Gemlongs with very odd features have been spoken of in whispers,
but have yet to be officially recorded...
