Help with eyes

Postby birdy-boots » Mon Dec 12, 2016 8:38 pm

Hi! So I do have a couple of tips for you here.
So first, even if you're working in amore cartoonish style, that doesn't mean the eyes have to be MASSIVE as well. Scaling them down really helps to fix the perspective of the face.
The second tip I have is regarding the 'shinies' in eyes that tend to happen in most anime/manga art styles...Honestly they aren't necessary? It may just be a personal preference thing, but I think something more subtle really puts life back into the eyes. More detail and using line variation (thick to thin) really helps the look of your art overall as well!
Also, take care to look at a Profile view of a canine versus a Front view of a canine, because the eye looks different in these two views.
