Den Five
Name: Rudy
Gender: Male
Personality: Rudy is very festive, often diving right into the holiday spirit wholeheartedly. Going on decorating tangents He is very kindhearted, always willing to help others in need. He is also very selfless, willing to sacrifice things for others. When he's sad though, he tends to spend a long time sulking and feeling sorry for himself, this often blinds him to things that are more important.
How has his nose and/or antlers affected his life: Rudy found his nose very helpful, he was never in need of a flashlight and it made it so easy to look down cracks and see things. His antlers he didn't mind, he found them fun to decorate and they were useful in other ways as well such as backscratching if he tilted his head back and tricking prey. But having these interesting and unique traits made him the subject of vicious jokes and the victim of bullying.
A Holiday Story:The Seeking FlameI had been sound asleep when I was awakened by a knocking sound on the outside of my den. Reluctantly, I woke up and stretched myself, then looked over at the entrance. It was still night outside. I cocked my head in puzzlement, wondering who it could be.
"Come on in," I said, getting up. Faintly, I could hear the sound of crying.
A family of chipmunks came in, the parents were both very upset looking and I couldn't help wonder what was wrong.
"Rudy, we hear you're the best one to go to for help around here," the male began. "We could really use your help."
"Sure, what's the problem and I'll help to the best of my abilities."
"Our youngest daughter, Martha, is missing," the female sniffled. "We've looked all over for her, but we simply can't find her."
I remembered meeting Martha before, she was quite and energetic and chipper little girl, she loved to sing and tie bows at the base of her tail and around on of her ears.
"I'm fairly certain if I use my seeking flame that I'll be able to find her," I informed them. "I'll have your little girl back in no time."
And with that, I put on my earmuffs, slipped on my red collar with the bells on it and raced out of my den, quickly summoning my seeking flame and lighting my nose.
To my surprise, I realized that a storm had brewed over night and it was hard to see.
No wonder the chipmunk family gave up looking for her. I thought to myself, this fact only added to my urgency to find her.
I must hurry before she freezes to death. It was Christmas eve night and I knew the young girl was probably cold and terrified, I just hoped that I would be able to find her in time. I also hoped that this experience wouldn't scar her forever when it came to Christmas.
Right now though, even I was getting cold, the wind and the snow seemed to pierce even my own thick coat of fur, the earmuffs were helping a little, but still, it was so very, very, cold. I just hoped that wherever Martha was hiding, that it was warm.
Every step I made through the snow only seemed harder and harder to make as I tried to follow my flame.
I realized at one point that it was leading me to a human town, though I was a bit afraid, I still entered. It was late enough at night that I probably wasn't in danger of being seen. I grew wary when my flame brought me close to a house, where I saw Martha perched on a window sill. She didn't seem afraid at all, if anything, she seemed really sad.
"Martha! Your family is worried sick about you! Why have you been hanging out here?" I asked as I approached her.
"Dunno," she began, her voice faint and sad sounding. "That family in there is sad, really sad Rudy."
Curiosity got the better of me, that and how heartbroken she seemed, so I went over to the window and peered in cautiously. Sadness seemed to emanate from the whole inside of the house despite how cheerfully decked out for Christmas it was.
"Their dad is in the hospital and money is tight," Martha said solemnly. "That's all that I've picked up, they're not even going to have presents. There must be something we can do, right?"
She turned to look at me and I caved in. "Yes, I'm sure there is something that we can do," I told her with a smile.
We ended up making some presents and leaving them on the doorstep, scratched at the door, and then ran off. Watching in the distance as the faces of the family lit up. I turned to Martha and smiled.
"Well, now that we've made their Christmas better, why don't you and I go back home so your family can stop worrying and have a good Christmas too."
"Okay." Martha replied, beaming at me, apparently satisfied with all that we had done.
Extra (may have as much extras as you like):
Why I love this Kitsuneko Chimera:
I love Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, I always have and I always will. When I was younger, I had a set of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer pjs that had Rudolph and other characters from the
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie, as well as a watch (which my brother broke by throwing up against my wall, and yes, I've never quite forgiven him for doing that as I loved that watch), we also had a set of matching slippers of Rudolph. I have had a multitude of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer plushies. One whose nose lights up and he sings the song, another that's just a small plush, and I have a Build-A-Bear Workshop stuffed animal of both him and Clarice. X3 I currently own and still wear regularly my 2 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer shirts (1 a long-sleeved gray one that says Rudolph Rocks! and as a light in it to make his nose light up and a short-sleeved red one that has glitter), I also own a set of long sleeved/legged Rudolph PJs. I also collect Rudolph pets here on CS. So yes, I LOVE Rudolph, with a passion. X3
Why do I love him so much? Because I associated with him, I was always made fun of in elementary school by the other kids. I was a freak by their standards because I didn't act "normal," back then I hadn't been diagnosed as being ADHD, so I thought the way I acted was normal. So I empathized with Rudolph, being the freak and being an outcast essentially because of it.
Favorite Music: Christmas Music of course!
