The sound of a kit wailing had drawn Ragingsoul's attention.
The sound of pawsteps had focused his mind solely on tracking the invaders.

He'd been expecting a she-cat, a queen with kits maybe. He'd found a tom, with a young kit. The tom introduced himself as Eagletalon, formerly of Elmclan. The kitten was Swallowkit, also of Elmclan. Raginsoul paced round the pair for a few silent minutes. Taking in the fact that their ribs were starting to show, and that the kit looked quite small for someone her age. "I'll allow you in." He'd finally said. "Swallowcub will be admitted straight to the nursery, we have Nurses who can feed her. However, since you are a warrior who has left his clan," "it was disbanded by the leader!" Eagletalon protested.

Ragingsoul continued as though the white and black cat hadn't spoken. "You shall serve the rank of Akuma. Two moons testing period. So long as you have not betrayed us during that time, then you shall be made a full Guardian. Do you agree, or would you prefer to leave? Either way, Swallowcub will be coming with me. She is too young to go from clan life to that of a loner."

Eagletalon shifted on his paws, huffed, then nodded "Fine. I'll agree."

It was time. Another moon another cat sent up to the dreaded beast that lurked in the upmost shadows. Since it was their third drawing, the shock has disappeared, replaced by severe anticipation. For some, like Fognose, the anticipation was worse than the drawing itself. But the grey and white she-cat rarely showed what she was feeling. She didn’t let on how anxious and stressed she was. The happiness of her warriorship had worn off over the past moon and reality hit her like a monster hurtling at top speed. She was a warrior now...which meant she was a contender. Her eyes were glued to the glittering pebbles in the hole, mentally sifting through them to find her own. However, she couldn’t see it. Whether this was because it was on the bottom, or the collection was too far away, she didn’t know, nor did she care. All she cared about now was Slatestar’s shaking paw that was posed to strike. His face was narrower than usual, hip bones bulging slightly out of his pelt. The tom clearly was losing weight, not eating, and didn’t care. A pang of sympathy hit Fognose’s heart. The poor guy! It wasn’t his fault that the cats had to go to the bear, if anything it was Vipersun’s. He was the one who mentioned the bloody thing! Fognose dipped her head, swishing her tail and holding her breath. The iconic skittering of the pebbles echoed in the camp. Slatestar’s voice was choked as he called out the name. “Cedarsplash.”

Cedarsplash lugged herself across the rocks. She wasn’t strong enough for this. She scoffed. ‘If I can’t do this, how am I supposed to fight off a creature ten times the size of me?’ She mocked herself. She wouldn’t. That was the brutal, but clear answer. She wouldn’t be able to fend it off for long, and eventually she would die at the bear’s jaws. She just hoped her daughters wouldn’t be too distressed. The warrior felt her eyes water up. Her beautiful daughters. She was so proud of them, and she was happy she got to see them as warriors. She prayed to StarClan that they would be alright, to have families of their own, and to eventually see them after they lived a long and prosperous life. Cedarsplash has said her goodbyes before she had left Adderbreeze, Squirrelheart, and Fognose, but she was by no means ready to leave them. But she had to. When it came down to it, Cedarsplash had lived a nice life. She experienced love, had her family, and had done close to everything she ever wanted. It was better for her to die rather than a young cat who hadn’t accomplished anything. All of this thinking took up the time that it took to reach the cave. As soon as she rounded the corner, she was met with glimmering teeth. “Alright you mangy beast!” Cedarsplash hissed “Lets get this over with!” She let out a battle cry and launched herself boldly at her opponent.

Adderbreeze lay restlessly. It was just before sunhigh and her mother still hadn’t come back. Cedarsplash was a strong warrior and would fight with every last breath she had. Adderbreeze shook her head. Her paws were tucked under her chest and her tail was curled neatly around her lithe body. Her green eyes closed for a moment before snapping open to see Stormfang next to her. “Nervous?” He meowed, laying down next to her. “Nervous?” Adderbreeze echoes, a tired smile spread on her mouth “Why would I be nervous?” Stormfang chuckled and pressed himself against his friend, warming her, even though the Greenleaf sun burned over them. Adderbreeze couldn’t help but close her eyes and lean into Stormfang’s chest. Something about the way he comforted her, and the way his scent wreathed around Adderbreeze’s body, made the She-cat have a strange yet happy spark inside her heart. It seemed to cry out inside her chest. ‘Stormfang!’ It yelled ‘I wish you shared the same feelings!’

However, her fantasies were cut short by a somber yowl. Adderbreeze felt Stormfang rise slowly and her eyes snapped open. Lionclaw was walking through the camp. His head was down and tail dragging through the dust. On his back was the body of Cedarsplash. Adderbreeze let out a horrified screech and ran over to the tom, who was gently placing her mother on the ground. Fognose and Squirrelheart followed her, and soon the she-cat’s remains were surrounded by her weeping daughters. The three new warriors were all pressing their noses into their mother’s fur, crying and wailing and screaming that it couldn’t be true. Their mother couldn’t be dead! Adderbreeze was clawing at the ground. Anger and pain swirled inside her, making her fur bush up and her fangs bared. Tears were visibly rolling and she was shaking. Stormfang hurried over to her, pushing past the other observers. He rushed to her side, propping her up to make sure she didn’t topple over. At his touch, Adderbreeze let go, collapsing in a crying, grieving heap. She tossed her head back and released a horrible, blood-curdling wail of grief for her dead mother.

Storm smiled as she lifted her head to see the other mollies in her clowder talking quietly or resting in the summer sun. Isabella had proven to be a decent hunter and fighter, although refinement in both was needed. Hare, a loyal and helpful second, got up from her resting place.

"Gingersnap! Huma!" she called. The two mollies, who’d been talking together, turned their heads. "I'm going hunting. You coming?"

"In a moment," replied Gingersnap somewhat distractedly. Storm wondered again at the name. It wasn’t bad, as names went, and her title showed her clowder upbringing. But it sounded like a housecat name. So did Huma, for that matter. Although it seemed more likely that their parents were housecats while the kits were brought up wild.

Isabella perked up from her resting place and glanced hopefully at her guardian. "Can I go, too?" she asked.

"No," Storm said apologetically. "We still need to work on your technique."

"Aww," grumbled Isabella. She put her head down on her paws again. "I never do anything fun!"

Storm sighed and her tail twitched with irritation. "If you don't learn," she said, forcing herself to be patient, "you can't do anything 'fun' as you call it." She cocked her head, looking at her guarded out of the corner of her eye. Maybe it was a housecat thing, where everything had to be "fun" and exciting. Hopefully her guarded would lose that way of thinking. Thankfully, Isabella wished to earn a title and to let any future kits earn one. There was hope for her yet.

Looking around, Storm found that Hare had already taken the other adults out to hunt. How had she missed that? Well, she had been talking and relaxing. Perhaps they would relax for a little longer and let the day start. She had found that while the early mornings and late evenings were the best time to hunt, mid-morning and mid-evening was the best time to patrol while the middle of the day was good for training Isabella. That way, everything could be staggered so that everyone had a chance to rest. And for the moment, life was good which meant that she didn't need to change anything. Hopefully they'd be able to find some more adults to lure into the clowder and build it up to rival some of the other ones in the city. But that could be done later, closer to the evening. Maybe she'd even come across a tom or two and negotiate an agreement. Preferably the toms would stay on the outskirts of her clowder's border but if they wanted to try and find a mate within it...well she wouldn't say no. Maybe a handsome tom would convince her too.

Storm rolled over onto her side and closed her lime-green eyes in satisfaction. She enjoyed having everything planned out, especially since things were going well. This was good indeed.

Redwing padded over to the sun rock where all of her main friends were sharing tongues and gossip. She purred happily as they made room for her right in the middle of their group. Cricketwing gently reached over and started to groom the back of Redwings neck. Redwing purred happily at the attention. “Alright. So what’s the gossip of the day?”

Poppysong opened her eyes from her nap and cleared her throat. “Well. For me. It’s that I want another litter of kits. I’m not sure of what Aloeleap wants. But he already has had kits before. And a big litter at that. Although only Shellfog and Gullwing are left. I just, I feel as if I have more love to spread to kits besides Mallardpaw. There. That’s my gossip.”

Redwing reached forward to gently rest her head against Poppysong’s back before curling back up into her spot against Cricketwing again. She looked at Heronstride, “Alright. Your turn. Spill. You and Scorchscream? I thought you hated him?”

Heronstride looked away and blushed slightly, “I-I don’t know. War’s can change you, that’s for sure. Plus he said that the reason he was mean to me was because he didn’t know how to tell me he liked me.”

Redwing cocked her head, “Bullying is still bullying. It wasn’t nice what he would do to you.”

Heronstride sighed, “I know. I’m making him work for it for sure.”

Seabird piped up, “That’s great! I’m so happy for you! Sootberry isn’t talking to Screechpelt at all. Like she completely refuses. I’m not sure if their relationship is repairable.” She shook her thick grey coat as she rolled onto her back, “But anyways, I saw Cricketwing speaking to Whitherstar. What’s up with that girly?”

Cricketwing groaned, “I thought nobody saw us…” She smirked as she leaned forward, “We are talking. I like him a lot. And it seems as if we have a lot in common too.” She leaned back to look at their resident deputy. “Any thoughts to add Deputy Ibisthroat?”

“Ugh!” She laughed, “Don’t call me that! I’m surprised I got the position. I think Rubypelt should get it over me, honestly!”

Ibisthroat smiled, glad that the she-cat was supporting her. She had secretly thought Rubypelt was mad at her for getting the position. “Well true that. Those boys are so naughty!” She paused, and turned to Cricketwing, “Hey, have you and Pikeclaw talked at all yet? I remember you told me that you guys were going to talk at one point.

Cricketwing nodded, “Yeah we did. Basically, he said that he was brainwashed into helping Timberclaw. I don’t know. He’s my only son so I don’t know how long I should wait until I forgive him.” She shook her head, “It’s a lot to take in," She paused, "We were talking a bit about she-cat’s the other day, and he said he has his eye on Screechpelt… Not sure what she thinks of him though.”

Seabird giggled, “She told me the other day she’s crushing hardcore on him. So I hope they end up together.”

Cricketwing laughed, “That’d be funny. Us. Grandparents of the same kits. Oh my!”

Ibisthroat laughed at that, “Yeah. And when me and Phantombelly were talking the other day he mentioned that he had his eye on Sootberry. Seabird you might get two litters of kits soon! Based on the fact that both of your girls have got toms pinning after them!”

Seabird smiled, “True. True. I hope the get their happy ending. Phantombelly is a nice cat. I think he and Sootberry would be a nice pair. Although, I remember he had a big crush on Snowpaw, when she was alive.”

Poppysong shook her head, “Everyone did. Everyone loved that she-cat. I’d be surprised if whisperpaw and emberpaw weren’t badgering her in starclan all day long.”

Redwing smiled, “They’d do that, for sure. That sounds like them.” She paused to reminisce for a moment over her two sons, who’d she had lost in the war. She missed their spunky games and how they bothered all of the warriors in the clan like nobody’s business. She was sure that Mistpaw felt the same. That reminded her. Mistpaw was way over the age of being an apprentice. She would need to talk to Salmon-. No. Whitherstar about her getting her warrior name as soon as possible.

gullwing stalked to the medicine cat den. the new queen badgering his ear off as he lead her through camp. "Why this here place is mighty neat!"

gullwing looked at her, "Yeah. It is." Her southern accent was getting annoying. Although it was interesting to listen to, he wasn't quite sure if he'd want to hold a full conversation with her ever again. "The medicine cat den is this way. I'm sure Badgerheart would want to check you out and make sure those kits you are carrying are doing fine."

"Thats mighty kind darling. Say, what didja say y'all's name was?" She spoke, getting closer to him and talking louder at the same time.

"Gullwing, miss. It was gullwing."

"Hmm," She narrowed her eyes and thought for a moment. Gullwing motioned for her to go in first to the medicine cat den where he could see Badgerheart and Wisteriapaw storing herbs from the days gathering. Badgerheart looked up, and motioned the she-cat over.

Gullwing waited a moment, "What did you say your name was?"

"Oh I didn't. My name is avocado. My mamma was a kitterpet an' her owner was a veggietari- something. I guess they done ate avocado's or somethin'. I don't know. Imma keep my name, I ain't gonna change it into one of y'all's double word combination thingy. its avocado or avo ta y'all." She nodded her head as she spoke and directed herself to Badgerheart.

Badgerheart snorted, "That's your name? That's the most mou-" She got elbowed in the side by the newest apprentice, Wisteriapaw, who just smiled nicely as Badgerheart glared.

Wisteriapaw spoke up, "How unique! My name is Wisteriapaw. This is Badgerheart. What can we help you with today?"

"Oh, Imma gonna have some kits soon. So Gullwing here done thought i'd betta get myself done checked out."

Badgerheart laughed, "I hope you don't name you kits mouse-brained names like your mother did to you!"

Wisteriapaw scowled, annoyed that she hadn't elbowed Badgerheart fast enough to stop her from being rude. But the she-cat just laughed with Badgerheart. "I know! Done took me an awful long time ta accept my own name!" She laughed again, "Naw, they will have darn good names if I have anythin' ta do with it!"

W E A T H E R
Greenleaf- It is not a typical day of the warm greenleaf weather that your cats love to doze off in. Instead it is a cold and rainy day. In fact it has been raining for the last few days with no signs of letting up. At least the prey has started to grow use to the rainy days and are out of their burrows. However the rain has caused light flooding and an abundant of slippery mud. Predators will be out in this weather so make sure your cats are extra cautious through this wet time of green leaf.

The search party had found Hailmask successfully. He was a bit shaken up but soon relaxed when he was with his clanmates. Smallsky walked beside him as they came back to camp. "I'm glad we were able to find you again," she said.
"Me too... I don't want to be with icky twolegs. They smell weird," he replied, pretending to gag. The group came through the clan entrance. The clan was silent as Birdstar came through. She looked to the crowd and smiled with a nod as Hailmask came through. The clan rejoiced that they were able to find him again. Soon, they gathered around him and asked questions.

"Did they hurt you?"
"Were they horrible!?"
"What does a twoleg nest look like?"
"Everybody please give him some space!" Dustbreeze hissed and put himself between Hailmask and the group.
"No, it's okay, Dustbreeze. Thank you though," he said. Dustbreeze looked embarrassed but he gave him a nod and then padded off somewhere. Cats continued to ask questions and he tried his best to answer.

"Twoleg nests are strange. Just as strange as their pelts, I would say," he replied. Birdstar nodded from beside him. "And they weren't that horrible but they had a habit of holding on and not letting go! I attacked them though!" The clan laughed.
"What did they want you for?" Hollymist asked. He fell silent as he thought about it.
"I'm not sure," he said at last. "I tried my best to get away and make sure they didn't touch me. They did get me though... I'm not sure what happened next because I blacked out."
"What!?" Rainpuddle gasped. "They could've done something! You should go see Rabbitnose!" She pushed him from behind and reluctantly led him to the medicine cat den.

Inside were herbs neatly packed together. Rabbitnose was no where to be seen. Instead, Songfeather had her nose in the herbs
"Huh? Where's Rabbitnose and why are you here?" Rainpuddle asked. She jumped when she spoke. She slowly turned around with a kind smile.
"Oh, hello you two! Rabbitnose is busy right now helping Blossomberry with her kits. She told me to get some herbs for her," she said.
"Well afterwards she should check Hailmask over!" she shouted.
"Ah, they found you? That's good to hear," she purred.
"Actually, I'm fine. Just leave Rabbitnose be," Hailmask said.
"Come on now!" Rainpuddle shouted. The two argued for a bit and Songfeather watched both in shock and because she was curious. Soon Rabbitnose came back looking for the herbs she was meant to get her. She wasn't pleased to see the arguing cats or Songfeather watching. She pushed them all out and rushed back to the nursery.

Dustbreeze walked away from the group and went to look for Emberstorm. She wasn't hard to find as she was sunning herself with Bumblestream. She was the first to see him.
"Hey, Dustbreeze. How's it going?" she sleepily asked him.
"I'm good. We found Hailmask," he said.
"Oh, you did?" Emberstorm replied.
"Yes. Have Smallsky and I proved ourselves to you now?"
Bumblestream looked confused but stayed quiet. "I suppose," Emberstorm said. "However..."
"Oh, what now?" he grumbled.
"That still doesn't have all that much to do with the alliance," she smiled.
"I thought Hailmask was in the alliance..." Bumblestream lazily said.
"He is," she snapped. "But finding him wasn't any part of the plan." Dustbreeze angrily lashed his tail.
"What now then?" he growled.
"I'll think of something," she smiled. She turned to the nursery and noticed Greypatch running in and Rabbitnose running out. "Looks like Blossomberry is kitting. Isn't she your friend?"
"Uh, yeah... We don't talk all that much though..." he looked away.
"I see now," she said with a mischievous grin.

Birdstar was glad something good was happening. Finding Hailmask again gave the clan just a little bit of hope. She headed to her den to relax. Foxfang and Blackwing were waiting for her. "Oh, hello. Can I help you?" she asked.
"Ah, yeah... It's about the patrol we did..." Blackwing said.
"Did something happen?"
"We found something that we feel like you should now," Foxfang replied. She titled her head and the two toms explained. They didn't want to think of what they found or the purpose but one thing was for certain. They belonged to twolegs. Birdstar nodded and came to a conclusion.
"They are trying to invade our territory and to catch us just like Hailmask."
"What should we do? Attack?" Blackwing asked.
"Twolegs are twice the size of us," Foxfang said.
"Foxfang is right. But we can still defend," she said. She stood up high and called for a meeting. The cats below weren't expecting a surprise meeting but they came quickly. She cleared her throat.
"As we all know, we have rescued Hailmask from twolegs. This meeting isn't about that but it is related. I have received news from Foxfang and Blackwing. Twolegs are invading our territory!"
The clan gasped. "How!?" someone shouted from below.
"Strange objects have been placed in our territory. Strange dens of a shiny material. Foxfang and Blackwing say they haven't seen anything quite like it. However! We will not let the twolegs win! We must defend our territory!" she shouted. The clan roared with agreement.
"If you notice any twolegs and the strange objects then please avoid them. We aren't sure what they do so I would like to avoid injuries. If no twolegs are present, they please investigate the objects and figure out the best method of taking them down," she explained. "For now, that is all. Please stay safe." She bowed her head and cats started to move. Birdstar was certain she would be able to defeat the twolegs and what they had planned.

RedHawk's held a head splitting headache as TwigHeart meowed "Congrats, 6 kittens" the molly sounded tired and swiftly left the molly to her kittens. She looked down to her belly, looking over the 6 bundles, the old molly held back tears as she thought of SkyGaze and CarpKit. She let her mind wander for a moment, wondering what her son was up to nowadays, she almost leaped out of her skin as FrostBite remarked "Wow RedHawk! Six kits, have you picked out names yet?" the younger molly let out a warm friendly grin. She did respond for a moment, she looked them over again "I have two names, VanillaKit and KestrelKit" the old molly nodded, the two kits who she had listed were named after her loved ones. She remembered silently of KestrelFlight, her loving and caring brother, and of her mother Vanilla, former kittypet turned barn cat. She still missed them dearly, she hoped they were still happy and healthy, she heard KestrelFlight went with his mate so she at least knew he wasn't completely lonely. She open her somber eyes "I think I like RowanKit, RussetKit, and WindKit for these three" she pressed her flattened nose to her kits head, she had left one kit unnamed she knew she had agreed to split the kits with RedStar it was only fair a few of the kits went to their father. FrostBite dipped her head and returned to her nest to tend to the newly punished WrenKit, SaltKit, and HemlockKit to keep them in check. She noticed the newly named three were small and their pelts only took in a few breathes before shuddering out a cough. She let out a horrified wail as one of the kits fell limp, already turned ice cold among the other warm bundles "WindKit is dead! He died!" she screeched straining her vocal cords. The queens around her let out sharp gasps, HazelWing bounced up dashing out the den like a hare running for its life. She noticed another go limp, RussetKit the one who most looked like her, she wailed again "No RussetKit! Wake up my kits" she pushed her nose to the two limp kits hot tears dripping onto the kits bodies. HazelWing stormed back to the nursery, AdderCloud hot on her tail. AdderCloud pushed the new queen out of the way, looking over RussetKit, WindKit, and RowanKit. The world seemed to blur around her, she couldn't lose more kits after CarpKit… she couldn't! She curled her tail around the three that were still in her grasp, she busted out and wailed like a newborn kit. After what felt like years, AdderCloud curled her tail around RedHawk to give the grieving queen comfort "I couldn't save them, they went to join StarClan, but remember what I told you all those moons ago RedHawk". She paused for a brief moment "You have to give all your love to your living kits, or they will die too" the calico got up "Call me back if the others start acting up" she added gently. The old queen limped dragged her remaining kits and herself into her nest, feeding the kits before grieving the rest of the night.

HazelWing and WolfBite burried the dead kits, putting a flower seed on each. A rose seed for WindKit, A yarrow seed for RussetKit, and finally a pot marigold seed for RowanKit the last to die. LynxPaw drifted down from the stars above, blinking gently at the kits; they were playing with eachother on top of their graves, blissfully unaware of the tragic deaths that befolded them. The two starry cat stepped forward, "Hey you three, its time to go" LynxPaw meowed gently. The kits whipped their heads to the tom "But will momma miss us?" RowanKit whimpered. "She will miss you, but you can stay here" the apprentice looked up to the stars "Come on", he waited until the kits slowly followed him. The 4 of them drifted back up to the stars above, 3 more stars shined brighter that night.

DawnTail stared at her newborn, she was the image of the kits DawnTail hoped to have. She swept her tail over the kit, causing a tiny mew from the tiny molly. She purred and licked her fragile kits head, not saying it but giving up the vibe all was ok. She tilted her head up as ferns brushed in came MorningRush and OakFang, her dearly beloved kits, they hated being called kits but no matter what they were still her newborns kits. "MorningRush! OakFang! Come meet your sister" she reeled them in gently, twirling her tail back to reveal the pretty calico molly.

[RᴇᴅHᴀᴡᴋ + DᴀᴡɴTᴀɪʟ + HᴀᴢᴇʟWɪɴɢ]

RedHawk stalked out of the nursery, the day sky shifted to a milky purple. The molly went out of camp, stopping at three small buds of flowers, WindKit, RussetKit, and RowanKit’s graves. She neatly curled her tail over her white creamy paws, a sigh drifted on the purple air. Mist gathered around the grave, giving the buds enough water to grow. She swirled her head slightly looking at the other graves Aster grew high on the oldest grave, FlickeringFlame's grave, grass had already grown back. Bachelor button on LynxPaw, Baby's breathe on RobinKit, among a handful more of flowers. She heard a pelt scrapped by a fern, she turned to see HazelWing's white and tabby pelt. She blinked her sky blue eyes "Hello RedHawk" she mewed gently, sitting down next to the cinnamon tabby "Come to see your kits again I imagine?" she asked. The flattened face she-cats only nodded, starring back down at her lost kits. HazelWing looked to her kits, A sprig of lavender stood tall on WishKit's grave and a single blossom barely bloomed on the grave of BraveKit. Soon enough along came another she-cat, DawnTail, her fur was grimy and knotted and her eyes dulled and sad. She took RobinKit's death hard, barely leaving the nursery let alone her nest, the she-cat was cooped up in the same nest her daughter died in. Her mate had remained with her, only leaving to go on brief patrols. RedHawk cast a tiny glance at the queen, HazelWing had turned to look at DawnTail too. HazelWing gave her a sympathetic look and scooted to give enough room for DawnTail to sit next to her and RedHawk. She sniffed loudly and slumped over to sit between the two other queens, staring sadly at her daughter bud, a small bud of pink carnation grew on the freshly turned dirt.

DawnTail let out a quiet wail, her head falling on HazelWing's shoulder. She drained all her tears into her thick fur, HazelWing rested her head on top of the other queen. RedHawk put her head on DawnTail's shoulder, curling her tail around the queen to give her more comfort. The night was spent with all of them comforting eachother, intaking all the caring waves.
