Elora fell asleep as the rain continued to sound, though she was no longer soaked from it. She was dry in her new home, humming as she made a small fire to dry out her clothes, changing into a set of dry ones she had kept in the small pack on her back. Sleep came easily to the elf, and she began renovating the hut she had claimed, working immediately as daylight came.

About a week into finding the village, Elora found herself finally done with repairs on her own hut. As the day came to an end, Elora had almost explored each of the abandoned tree houses, left behind by those now forgotten. They didn't seem to have been killed, or at least not here. No sign of struggles, nor any sign of really anything left behind. No, Elora thought, whoever had been here had left of their own accord.

She was so lost in her thoughts that she almost missed the small noise coming from the last house she had yet to visit. It didn't sound like an animal, but it didn't quite sound human. Another species, then? Elora proceeded with caution; she had been here long enough to know that no one was staying here. She should have been alone. A few strange things had come and gone, not interesting in buying whatever Elora was selling them, even though she told them it was just going to be a village, that she wasn't actually trying to sell them anything. So far, no one had listened, and though Elora had been lonely, she was getting by, already finding a good gathering area, extracting some seeds to plant later.

"Hello?" Elora called out, stopping just before the door to the house. "I know someone is over there, and I'd like you to reveal yourself before I strike." She knocked on the door, and before she could reach for the doorknob it flew open, and a spooked looking harpy was inside, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"Strike?!" He exclaimed, gazing all around at Elora's figure for a weapon. "Please tell me you're kidding. I'm only here to rest my wings. I didn't realize it was an already claimed spot, so I apologize. I'll take my leave and rest somewhere else. Maybe a nice stream will do, and I'll just let it carry me down to the ends of the earth..."

Elora stared at the harpy as he rambled on, dramatically throwing his right hand across his forehead like he was withering away. Elora could see that the stranger was dirty, and needed to rest, but his eyes were alight with humor. He glanced at Elora and smirked, making her heart jump a little before she shook her head.

"No." She said, and the harpy raised an eyebrow, frowning slightly as if thinking his humor was lost on her. "I mean, no, as in you don't have to do that. You can stay. And... if you'd like, help me start this village." The harpy let out a bird-like laugh, smiling giddily, before Elora realized what she had said and blushed deeply. "Not like that, you pervert! I just meant help me recruit people."

The harpy chuckled once more, and turned his happy smile on Elora. "I know what you meant, elf. I was just having a bit of fun. Truthfully, I've been watching you a while and knew you were settling here; I've seen all those other people come and go as well, but I like your attitude and perseverance, which is why I waited here. I wanted to ask you to join you, but you beat me to it."

Elora smiled herself now, a rare thing to see on the elf. "Well, I'll be glad to have you. My name is Elora Brydon, by the way."

Another heart jolting smile. Gosh, this harpy knew he was handsome... He extended a feathered arm, letting Elora shake it.

"Seraphim; a pleasure to meet you, my fair Elora. Now, let me see about getting us some food." He barely waited for Elora to catch his name before he took off into the sky, all thoughts of resting apparently forgotten, though Elora now wasn't sure if he even needed to rest. His demeanor changed completely after she gave him an invitation to stay, exhaustion gone.

"Stupid harpy," Elora mumbled, disgruntled at his quick exit. "Barely let me say anything before he takes off."

Busying herself with organizing the storage hut, as she dubbed it, the sun was just starting its retreat when a quiet beat of wings told her that Seraphim had returned.

"Meat!" He said excitedly, depositing a wet fish in front of Elora. "Much better than that green stuff you picked the other day." Seraphim wrinkled his nose at the nearby zucchini, very nearly sticking his tongue out at it. "I think this will be much better. Get some protein, because I daresay you've had enough green vegetables for a while."

Elora resisted the urge to roll her eyes. He was a child in an adult's body. "I prefer zucchini to salmon," she said flatly, not looking at the harpy as she finished up her organization.

"Eew!" Serpahim said, looking at Elora with an appalled expression. "I don't know if we can get along, Elora."

That earned him a scowl, and he laughed again, putting up his hands in a gesture of apology. "Didn't mean it," he said, watching Elora carefully as she started a fire, grabbing a zucchini to cook up. Seraphim's stomach gave an audible growl, causing Elora to raise an eyebrow.

"You can cook on this fire. I won't try to burn you with it." She said, skeptically looking at her new village member. He shuffled his feet slightly, giving Elora a bashful look before looking at the ground. He looked like a lost puppy.

"I, uh... well, this is embarrassing, telling someone I just met but... I burn everything I try to cook."

Elora sighed, not able to resist, holding her hand out for the fish, still keeping her eyes on the fire. She missed the sight of the victory dance Seraphim did, happy that he had been able to trick her so easily, though she gave him pause when she said "I'm only doing this because I want to share this fish, not because I believe you can't cook." Seraphim stopped in his short dance, giving Elora a mock glare.

"Well you're no fun," he pouted, though he drifted lazily to sit beside the fire, continuing to make conversation with the elf as the pair shared a meal.

Summer
Summer is here! During summer, your villagers will likely catch even more prey and the odds of deaths during births will continue to drop.

Mod Notes: You probably know this but I can't remember if i added this is my starting post or not: Shapeshifter and humans are allowed in the Cavern ^^

Nyke scratched behind Troy's ear. The pup had grown significantly over the past few months and now, he found it hard to fit in certain places. But that didn't stop him from always curling up on the queen's lap. Queen. That term still had a shock value to it. Nyke loved being a leader and was grateful for the chance to rule by her beloved's side, but she wasn't exactly the leader type. She always let Raiden take the lead when it came to decision making, though of course she added her two cents. She stayed behind the scenes. The woman had made it clear to Raiden that when they had children, she would devote the majority of her time tending to the heir, and helping all of the future mothers of the village with their children when needed. Nyke adored children. Her maternal instincts had always been present and she was extremely eager to have little ones of her own. She just didn't know how to bring up the topic with Raiden. She let out a hefty sigh, running her hand over Troy's fluffy forehead. Her husband was amazing at his role, but terrible when it came to discussing their future. It had taken two years of them wandering the wilderness for him to realize his feelings for her. They had been friends since the old Cavern days and she couldn't really imagine life without him. However, she wished her would open his eyes and see what was in front of him.

A call jerked her from her thoughts. Speak of the devil. Troy's head shot up and the malamute flung himself off on Nyke's lap, hurtling at Raiden with his tongue lolling out of his mouth. The two males collided, Raiden embracing his companion with a large smile on his face. Nyke smirked. He sure was handsome when he smiled. She got to her feet and brushed the white fur off of her pants, though it didn't really matter since most of her outfit contained white bear fur (except for the cotton undershirt she was wearing. She had decided to omit her coat from her outfit today due to the weather. All she had on were her pants, fur-lined boots, and white tank top). She made her way over to Raiden and embraced him in a hug, smiling when he planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. She pulled away and kissed Troy on the head.

"Don't worry, I didn't forget about you." She giggled to the dog.
"How come he gets an actual kiss?" Raiden pouted down at her. Nyke rolled her eyes and rose to her tip toes, placing a sweet kiss on his cheek.
"I need to talk to you darling." She whispered in his ear after kissing his cheek. She felt his cheeks get hot and his jaw clench. He looked down at her and swallowed, obviously worried about what this could be about. Nyke jerked her head to their cabin and planned out what she would say once they got inside.

xxxxThe village of Mekhanikos, reluctant sanctuary for the lost and curious, was never intended to be what it was. The founder was a lonely inventor, little more than a child themselves, who simply sought to build themselves a friend. But when it comes to robots, much like certain chips, it is impossible to have just one, especially when the woods surrounding your village are filled with deactivated golems from an ancient civilization who begrudgingly aid whoever activates them. Mekhanikos would grow and grow into a safe haven for robots, golems, and their token human mechanic. After all, they say it takes a mechanical village to raise an inventor.

xxxxMekhanos is home to three types of beings; humans, or rather human- the founder, robots, beings of metal and gears crafted by the founder, and golems, remnants of an ancient civilization that were reactivated by the founder. These beings live together in a bit of a tense trust, their conflicting innate natures leading to frequent social clashes. While he robots tend to be fond of the founder for it was the founder who created them, golems regard the founder with a mixture of fear and respect which empresses itself as a distant caution. Not only are the golems reclusive by nature but they have a special reason for distrusting the founder; they know the golem's activation word and thus hold great power over them. Even if the founder has no intention of using this power the golems still regard them with suspicion. Perhaps the most obvious culteral clash is between the carefree robots and stoic golems. While golems value the power of both words and nature, speaketh in olde English, and are equal parts stuffy and noble, robots take after humans more with flexible and creative natures. They also speak in anything from dial tones to text talk depending on their make, a quality that annoys the word-loving golems.

xxxxIn terms of game mechanics robots and golems work the same as humans. They both require food products, though neither eats, instead using various parts of plants and animals as fuel as a robot or simply absorbing the essence as a golem. Robots and golems can get injured either with minor cosmetic damage or devastating destruction to their core parts or essences; these injuries are fixed by the village's mechanic (who replaces the shaman). Both can die either through accrued injury, lack of fuel, or simple old age. The internal processors of robots tend to last around the length of a human lifespan and cannot be replaced like other worn down part, and while the fixes and fuel the mechanic provides do a good enough job for golems in the long term they simply cannot last on them as long as they could with the resources of the ancient civilization. Visually both robots and golems are humanoid though some can stretch that description rather far. Both golems and robots can possess hair and eyes of any color, and robots can possess any skin color while golems are limited to column 11 and all of row G. Humans are, of course, restricted to natural coloration.

xxxxThe mechanics of accumulating new members is a bit different for Mekhanikos. Rather than the Head Chief requesting a new member the resident mechanic spends a year building a robot; instead of finding nomads, patrols find inactivated golems scattered through the forest and bring them home. The mechanic then spends time over the next year testing out activation words and trying to reanimate the golem. On a very, very rare occasion a patrol may find a human instead of a golem but these nomads are largely distrusted by the citizens of Mekhanikos. When it comes to having children, robots and golems can in fact reproduce, each in their unique ways. Robot couples spend the next two years working with the mechanic to build a robot "child" who combines the traits of both parents. This process takes twice as long as the development of a normal adult robot because as it turns out, developing an AI that learns and develops the same as a human child is a far more complicated task; creating a body that develops similarly was judged impossible. Golem couples spend two years laboring over a ballad intended to be sung to nature and activate a child golem. This process only takes as long as it does as golems are very insistent on correct word choice, which is at least partially justified by the percentage that this process fails when words fail to take hold and bind magical essence to a solid stone form. Golems and robots can reproduce in this way with a partner of any species but golem and robot partnerships tend to form children through a unique blend of the two processes. The couple works with the mechanic to create a metal body as in robot reproduction, and then animate it with a ballad like in golem reproduction. These golem-robot hybrids tend to appear similar to robots, if with more nature-inspired elements, but their life force is purely magical like golems.

xxxxThe citizens of Mekhanikos are extreme omnivores as robots, golems, and humans all need a variety of different foods to survive. Due to dwelling in a temperate forest available include wild greens and vegetables such as dandelion greens, wild asparagus, and hopniss. Also plentiful are fruits such as blackberries, apples, and blueberries. Hunting wild animals such as deer, beaver, rabbits, and trout rounds out the diet. The production of Mekhanikos is just as varied as the food they eat, though the village largely specializes in refining and producing goods. Metal working and stone cutting is a must for a village composed primarily of beings made from the stuff and in their spare time most residents enjoy tinkering and building. Due to the small and intimate nature of the village there really isn't an economy, rather a sharing of basic resources and a trade and barter system for luxury goods.

Three Gods: Runos the God of Fortune, Phezrus the God of the Damned, and Ether the God of the Sky. Runos and Phezrus were brothers who were about to go to war with each other. Ether, being a friendly god, called upon them to Värmod in order to fix their problems. Phezrus was wanting to help his people, the Damned, to make their lives better. He had seen the troubles they had gone through as mortals and he didn’t see it right as their God to simply let them suffer. However, Runos didn’t think they deserved any help. He saw them as weak, only ever looking to Phezrus when they were in need. Ether made a deal with the two. He would allow the Damned to reside on his lovely and holy mountaintop, Värmod, and create a new life for themselves. However, this was all on two conditions. First, Runos and Phezrus would both work together to keep the people strong. And Second, the people would have to live their lives respecting and thanking all three of the Gods for their blessings.

The Skyhelm is on the mountaintop Värmod, known as a place for people with troubled pasts to reside and find a life with each other. They are strong people, made of many warriors and they will fight for what they want. All the people pledge their loyalty and strength to the ruler, together making them set up to be one of the strongest villages seen. They have been called Sky Vikings, referring to their brutal ways. Nevertheless, these people protect their own, especially the youth.

Note to Mods: They are humans and one-shift shapeshifters only. There are no dragons or fire-lizards in Skyhelm. The Tester role will be taken out due to the Chief being the one to choose roles for the young ones. They will become apprentices at 10-18.

Camilla didn't know where or when she was, anymore, but had given up on asking Kalliarrah. The other woman was simply confused whenever she asked about her former village mates and Kali kept badgering her about "Holds" and "Crafters" and asking if she was a "Journeyman," whatever that meant. It wasn't too terrible, she supposed, but now she was stuck with someone who clearly lived in a different world.

"Oh, look up!" gasped Kali, drawing Camilla's attention. "Dragons!"

Camilla looked up and took a sharp breath as she saw large shapes in the sky. Dragons. She'd never seen them in person but of course everyone knew what kinds of beasts existed. She fully expected to see them pass by but instead, she heard rumbles in the air and stumbled backwards as three shapes dived down. "Ohgodohgodohgod," she whimpered.

Kali simply snorted with amusement. "Don't know what you're thinking but those dragons are friendly. I've heard about Black Rock Weyrhold and these probably come from there."

"Friendly?!" squeaked Camilla. "They-they're right there!"

A giant bronze dragon had landed, with two smaller ones--a green and a blue--by its side. Humans were now sliding down their backs and approaching the two women. Upon closer inspection, she saw that it was an older man walking with two younger people just out of their teenage years. They were wearing leathers, helmets, and goggles, although the boy had pushed his up to reveal ice-blue eyes.

"Are you seeking shelter?" asked the older man, staring intensely at Camilla with violet eyes. "Faranath knows we could use more people."

Kali nodded vigorously and almost as an afterthought, fixed the sunglasses that she claimed were to protect her sensitive eyes from the sun. "Is this Black Rock Weyrhold territory?" she asked.

The man nodded, a sharp jerk of his head. "I'm Weyrleader N'reg," he said. "These are two of my wingmates, greenrider Soyah and bluerider Ze'ku." The two dragonriders waved, the girl a little more shyly. "Would you be interested in joining the Weyrhold?"

Camilla shrugged her shoulders. They seemed friendly enough and if Kali could be trusted, wouldn't harm her. "Sure," she said. Kali agreed a moment later. "Take us to wherever."

Waxinnan had been quietly courting Nitia for almost three turns, now, and when he had proposed to her, the Weyrhold had exploded into gossip. Wax, who was known for his flirtations with almost any woman to cross his eye, was getting married? But Wax wasn't the same man he had been more than ten turns ago, and had been itching to settle down with a single woman for some time. Nitia, with her boldness and exuberance for life, was the perfect match in his opinion. Eshni, of course, had been overly excited and had immediately started talking to her mother about making "arrangements." What an apprentice.

"Eshni's going to marry us, isn't she?" murmured Nitia, stroking Wax's chest as they lay in bed. "And Abesses and Renolla, too. What a day."

Wax snorted and looked his love in the eyes. "I think she's ready. She's fifteen, now, and has been studying hard and well. Her mother will be there if anything comes up."

"If you trust her, I do to," Nitia replied seriously. "She's a cute trundlebug to have underfoot."

"You did not!" laughed Wax, feeling obligated to defend Eshni. "She's not a trundlebug."

"Then what?"

"A fire-lizard, maybe." Shulli, his green, chirped questioningly from her perch on the foot of the bed. "Good for taking messages around and good if you tell her what to do. Just make sure it's clear enough or she'll get ideas."

Nitia's eyes crinkled around the edges with humor. "I'm not sure how to take that."

"Then don't," said Wax with a roll of his eyes. "We've got a big day tomorrow and we should focus on that."

"Do you want to go visit the dragons?" asked Beallolril in a hushed whisper as he and Fira sat next to each other at the dinner table. They were celebrating two weddings and while Ril was super happy for the couples, he also was bored to death.

Fira grimaced and picked at her wherry. "I don't know," she said quietly. "I mean I wanna but I don't wanna get in trouble."

"Aww c'mon," said Ril reassuringly, "we're not going to get into trouble! We just gotta make sure that dad doesn't make Zor come after us." Zor was the family fire-lizard, although Ershar was his Impressed handler. The Beastcrafter had a tendency to make the fire-lizard track his two children although less now that they were older.

"Okay," said Fira cautiously, looking around. "When should we do it?"

"Now!"

Seanni grimaced. Dragons from the beginning of time had a poor memory for names, with the exceptions of their riders, close friends and family, and other dragons. She blamed Kitty Ping although understood that had the dragons of days past remembered the horrific Thread-related injuries, Pern's defense system would have faltered within a generation. But when did Ril and Fira approach Rosanth? They'd been at the feast all afternoon...hadn't they?

"You can run ahead!" Seanni said encouragingly to Nebenni and Seregan. The twins grinned and then raced to see who would be first to Rosanth. The Weyrwoman shook her head, small smile on her face. Her little weyrbrats were growing fast and soon they'd be apprenticing to a Craft or settling for life as a Lower Caverns staff. Funny how that name had stuck even though new Weyrs and Weyrholds had long been built above ground.

She heard peals of laughter and looked up to see Fira picking up and spinning Nebenni, who was laughing in the mad way that little children did. Seanni rolled her eyes. At least Rosanth had seemed to appreciate the company rather than being annoyed. Seanni supposed that her dragon would have called for her earlier if that had been the case.

Reaching her beautiful gold, Seanni began to tell her about all the day's events.

"And then you hear this really loud screech that's louder than a blooding fire-lizard and I almost wet myself," laughed Benorri. "And then you just hear this crash and we all run over to her to see what's going on. By Faranath how the Master was so furious with her for breaking one of his telescopes!"

Baridna and Ayal were both in stitches as Benny related a tale of a clumsy classmate during her days apprenticed at Landing. According to her, this classmate had somehow managed to stick with Starcraft for almost three turns before she was finally expelled from the program due to her inability to not break everything she came across. Benny had, apparently, been in the crossfire multiple times although it wasn't unique to everyone in her class as almost everyone had gotten something dropped on them, broken on or near them, and otherwise mangled near them and had needed to help clean up the resulting mess.

"There was this one guy," Ayal said finally, wiping tears of mirth from her eyes, "who went home lame after he whacked an ax into his leg. It wasn't pretty but he joked about how now his parents would have less to feed because of all the mass lost."

"Oh stars and stones that's horrible" groaned Baridna. "Boldosh's come home with some nasty injuries from fishing and I hate it because he refuses to see Shollun until I force him."

"That's men for you," shrugged Ayal and Benny nodded with raised eyebrows of agreement. "Always telling you they feel fine until they drop dead."

Baridna sighed and cradled her head in her hands. "Agreed."

Zor crooned as Eshni stroked his head knobs and she smiled. "Who's a good boy?" she said in the high-pitched tone normally reserved for babies.

"You spoil him so," said Ershar with a smile as he picked up the bowl of soup. "It's hard to believe that you're almost ready to become a journeyman."
"I know!" said Eshni excitedly. "I want to stay and compose songs, but I guess if Wax thinks my time would be better spent teaching, I guess I'll teach."

Jesni stood up and walked around the table to hug her daughter, who blushed but didn't pull away. "Wherever you go," she whispered into her hair, "remember that we love you and are proud of you. Wherever life leads you, we'll stand by you."

"Aww mom," grumbled Ril, "why can't you say that stuff to me? Almost like I'm not even here!" He threw his hands up into the air and winked at Eshni who snickered.

Jesni stood straight and put a hand to her heart. "Oh, Ershar," she whispered in mock fright, "did you hear that? Was that a ghost? Ahh!"

The family burst out laughing and even Zor chirped with delight to see his humans happy like that. The turn had been going well. All was well within the Weyrhold. All was well.

"You know, you aren't exactly in a good location to find new people." The statement came as serious, though Seraphim's eyes gave away the fact that he was joking. Elora had learned a lot about the harpy's mannerisms; mostly that he couldn't hide his true emotions unless he closed his eyes. They would always give him away in a lie, for which Elora was grateful... she sucked at reading people most of the time. Probably because she didn't like dealing with people for a prolonged period of time, but she didn't dare admit that to herself.

Elora smirked, keeping her eyes on the forest for a few moments before giving Seraphim a response. "Yes, but I don't want to just accept anyone and everyone anyway. If they're able to find the village, that's the first test if they are worthy of being a villager."

Seraphim smiled back at Elora, chuckling. "I guess that's fair. I'm really surprised-" What exactly the harpy was surprised about, Elora wouldn't know, for a dark shadow fell in front of her vision. Elora cursed once, but held her ground. Seraphim did the same, quieting as they saw a large cougar in front of them, sniffing at them curiously, it's ears flicking in interest. It wasn't aggressive... at least not yet.

"What do we do?" Seraphim asked lowly, causing the cat to flinch and hiss. Elora didn't take her eyes off of the predator, shaking her head in response. She wanted to tell him to shut up, but she didn't want to cause the creature more irritation.

A low whistle sounded in the woods, causing the cat's head to swivel quickly towards the sound, it's body tensing. A series of other noises followed, clicks and more whistles, before the cat decided that would be more interesting than the creatures in front of it. Elora didn't understand why until the wind picked up, blowing the scent of meat over her nose. Even as the cougar disappeared from view, neither Elora or Seraphim dared to move, at least not until another elf came into view.

"Are you two alright?" The elf was probably around the same age as Elora, and his demeanor was similar too; closed off. His body language made it clear that he wished he was anywhere else but here, doing anything else but rescue two idiots from a cougar.

Elora was the first to recover, offering the stranger a nod. "Yes, thanks to you. What's your name?"

"Aelys," he responded, looking away. "I was just passing through, finishing up some trading for some meat. Not anymore, I guess; I used it to lure away that cat." Aelys sighed, his posture sagging as he thought of his lost food. "I guess I'll have to do some more gathering..."

"Sorry about that," Seraphim said, recovering now, still looking in the direction the cougar had walked. "Elora and I have some meat back at our village, if you'd like. We could offer it as thanks for saving our hides."

Elora shot Serpahim an annoyed look. They didn't have meat to spare for themselves, much less meat to give away to a stranger. Albeit a kind stranger, but a stranger nonetheless. She didn't dare say this out loud, but her eyes blazed, saying everything.

Aelys gave a curt nod. "Yes, I suppose that'll do."

The fire was the only thing filling the silence. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, but no one had much to say. They had enjoyed a meal together, the three of them, and were relaxing by the dying light. It was Elora who finally decided to break the silence, making an on the whim decision.

"Aelys," she began, effectively getting the attention of the read haired elf. "You know, if you don't have anywhere else to be, we could always use someone with your expertise in plants in Hawk Ridge. I know it's not much, just Seraphim and myself right now, but we're always in need of more villagers."

Aelys frowned, though he didn't outwardly refuse. "I'll have to give you an answer in the morning. I tend to be a wanderer, and I have been my entire life. I'll... give it a very hearty consideration, however. Thank you." With that, he stood, retiring to the hut that Elora and Seraphim had recently built. It had been Seraphim's, but the harpy said he was going to sleep outside for the night to give Aelys some privacy. The stars would be out all night, the harpy had said, and he liked sleeping under the starry sky.

"...Well, it's a start," Seraphim said after a few more moments of silence, giving Elora a smile. "Your village is definitely growing."

The new gatherer is named Aelys Pertora.

Nyx Greybone was an impressive woman, built like a house and as strong as a bull. One could easily see how she was built for war, a statuesque monolith from salt-soaked lands. Scars threaded like roads over weathered skin and when she crossed her arms, Nyx seemed to be able to fill the entire sky, her shadow falling across the ground like a royal carpet. A bone necklace hung low from her neck, swinging deep over a black shirt, adorned with a single bloodstone; It was worn and smoothed, evidently a worry stone that Nyx had kept close to her mighty chest.

However, it was not so easy to see how she was built for love.

Stood at the mouth of the cavern, Nyx watched nervously as the young boy waddled along the sapphire-blue creek. ''How old is he again?'' The warrior murmured, glancing at the elf. Of course, Nyx had faith that the mother knew what she was doing but what if she wasn't!? Nyx didn't know the full story here and she had had enough of her own experiences with child-death to remain wary.

''He's 2 years old.'' Stella replied with a touch of pride, heart swelling as she gazed at her son. ''And so strong already.'' Glancing at Nyx, she elbowed the woman with a playful expression. ''Hey, maybe you could be his mentor when he's older?'' Stella knew that look in Nyx's eyes; The look of a mother, clearly concerned for their well-being and consequently, there was no-one better that Stella wanted to teach her son, except for her good friend Sitara.

Smiling bashfully, Nyx crossed her arms and rolled her eyes softly. ''Heh, maybe.'' Nothing was set in stone, of course and yet Nyx felt terrible; Could she really afford to try again? When the last few attempts had brought nothing but disaster? Unconsciously, Nyx felt her fingers moving for the bloodstone's cool touch and found herself moving away, further into the shadows, further, further further.

No wonder they had exiled her.

LORE
The Republic of Ethological Persons or Otherwise (REPO) is a safehaven for those curious beings that today's modern world has rejected. These few folk, the Aboriginals who've roamed these lands longer than you could ever dream to remember - nearly wiped out after a silent mass execution fueled by greed, spite, and an undying lust for power. Nobody knows of this - nobody even remembers the Aboriginals, who were the first to set foot on these plains. They were silenced swiftly and unjustly.

It wasn't until a couple years later, when the hostility had died down, that things began to change. All Aboriginals were presumed to be dead, so after pillaging the lands they'd fought so savagely for, those infiltrators known as the Plaguesmen left this once beautiful utopia in search of more lands to plunder and destroy.
However, despite what the Plaguesmen had originally thought, the Aboriginals were not extinct - not completely, at least. Slowly, but surely, the Aboriginals began to return to their beloved homeland, devastated to find it in ruins, but now driven by rage and pain to bring justice to those who had tried so hard to ruin them. And thus, REPO was born.

NATURES
The Aboriginals tend to be a reclusive people - surviving one genocide attempt was enough to make them lose all their trust in their so-called allies. They are also rather hostile and unwelcoming towards those outside their species, oftentimes resorting to violence if provoked. (And it doesn't take much to provoke them.) A very fearful and paranoid race, the Aboriginals are very highly opinionated and usually tend to be rather pragmatic about most things. Unlike their resentment towards Outsiders, Aboriginals treat all those within their species with the utmost respect and dignity, oftentimes reaching out to help one another in their time of need. There is little crime in the Republic, mainly due to the fact that most of the time, there is no reason for there to be. All Aboriginals treat one another as family.

GLOSSARY
Aboriginals: The anthropomorphic residents of REPO. All Aboriginals take the appearance of a certain type of animal - though some are more common than others - in a bipedal form. They're not entirely humanoid; they're still mostly animals, so their sizes range drastically.

Plaguesmen/Outsiders: The humans and creatures outside of the Aboriginal species that killed off most of the Aboriginal population. Due to years of isolationist and otherwise xenophobic views, all Outsiders are treated with the same hostility a Plaguesmen would receive - all Outsiders are the same, after all.
