season !! it's fall & brrrr, the weather is starting to drop in most places. so is the chance of catching more prey, finding new people and skilled animals. plus with all the icky germs about the odds of sickness will rise. also, take note that the odds of child-birth death's will rise.

"Where are these people coming from?" Seraphim sighed dramatically. "First some weirdo named Finn, and now some strange cat human named Paradox... What kind of name is Paradox, anyway?" He rambled on, seemingly unaware that his audience wasn't even listening. "Soon I won't even know everyone's names... I'll be lost, in a village I helped found..." Another sigh, but this time he looked up, finally realizing that Elora, who he was trying to talk to, was miles away from the conversation. "Elora?" No response. "Hellooooo?"

Finally, Elora looked up, blinking in alarm a few times. "Seraphim?" She asked, glancing into his face. "Is something wrong?"

Seraphim let out a huge sigh, not exaggerated this time. "No, nothing's wrong. I know you're busy. Is there anything I can do to help?" Elora seemed to light up at that, the stress of obtaining more than one new member weighing heavily on her shoulders.

"Well, yeah, that would be great. I've been wondering who I can send to get some more building materials to expand a hut, and I didn't even think to ask you. Of course, if you don't want to, that's fine - I'll ask Laurel to find something while she's out with Samael." Seraphim shook his head, smirking sadly.

"I'll go," he said gently, running his hands through Elora's hair. "Maybe then you're mind will be a bit clearer, and you can actually listen to me complain." He laughed as Elora shook her head, taking flight to look for building material. Once he was out of sight, Elora let out her own sigh. It was getting to be increasingly difficult, making sure the village had enough food and making sure everyone was happy with their living arrangements. As it was, her mind was so distracted because Aelys had taken to complaining about living with Samael and Evidone. Apparently, the elf did not get along with the two nymphs, which was proving to be a problem since there was no place else to house anyone at the current moment. Elora had been overworking herself to find materials to build a hut, and it was close to being finished, but Aelys had unleashed a new string of complaints to her almost all morning on their gathering patrol. The only difference was this time, he was complaining that Elora got to share a hut with who she bonded with, but though Neru and Aelys had feelings for each other, they couldn't live together. He felt it was unfair, despite Elora telling him she and Seraphim had only shared the hut because of the lack of space.

Eventually, she had snapped at the elf, and he subdued himself, growing quiet for the rest of the patrol. Elora, still fuming, did not feel bad at the time, but when they came back into the village and she saw the way Neru ran into Aelys's arms, she felt ashamed of her behavior. Aelys did deserve a better housing arrangement; it wasn't fair to keep throwing new people into his hut. As it was, Finn and Paradox had been squeezed into the hut, making it barely large enough for the boys to have more than their bed space. It must suck.

And so, all afternoon and into the evening, Elora had been making a new hut for Aelys and Neru. A few times, the other elf came over to help, but she waved him away, telling him she felt bad and wanted to give him this house in good grace, as a gift. Truthfully, he just got in the way more than he actually helped, so it was easier to work by herself. It was then that Seraphim came over, but she had just ran out of building supplies, thinking about what she should do.

Elora did some stretches, alleviating the kinks in her back and shoulders from working on the hut all day. By the time she had finished her exercises, Seraphim had returned, his arms full of sticks and building supplies. He bowed as he showed them to her, and she smiled widely. "You are a lifesaver," she said gratefully, getting to work right away. Seraphim, not needing anymore incentive to stay besides the fact that Elora was here, grabbed his own bundle and got to work. At the rate the two of them went, they were definitely going to finish Aelys's hut by sundown.

"Many hands make light work," Seraphim smiled, ignoring the sweat running down his face. Elora gave him a smile back, feeling good about the direction her village was going. Tomorrow, she would have Laurel and Samael build another hut, to get on top of more living arrangements before new members arrive, being proactive. Perhaps she would assign two people a day to work on a hut... yes, everything would be just fine. There was no need to be stressed, even if the village grew.

The village of PeachTree is a calm one, nestled deep within a jungle supposedly home to the supernatural. Tree-houses are abundant and life springs from every corner. The village has a neutral reputation, choosing not to pick fights and refraining to start them either. Only if their Allies are in trouble do The Terracotta and The Defenders spring into action. The territory is spread out across a large portion of a jungle. Three rivers run through the jungle that affect all who come into Peach Tree. These rivers are considered sacred and blessed by the gods. Assorted environments are spread throughout the jungle, including a mountain on the edge of the territory and several open fields. The village itself is very small, yet it's territory is larger by far. There is plenty to hunt and gather on the large expanse and more is hopefully to be conquered. Peach Tree culture is what can only be described as a twist between Feudal Era Japan Ideals and Tribal Africa Spiritualism. The personalities of the people is all dependent on the extremes and what kind of conditions they are brought into the Village under. Some are good and choose to help out in any way they can, whereas others prefer to stick to the sidelines, plotting away. Peach Tree is home to many. Any and All species are welcome into the arms of Peach Tree's environment whatever the skin tone, eye color, or hair color may be. This makes for unique diversity throughout the village. For life is like a Peach Tree, forever growing and changing.

Next Wish to Raziel: five days

It was a cold fall day as the lioness prowled through the thick forest. Her jaws opened slightly to scent the air, hoping that today would be the day that she found a decent meal. It was slim pickings when most of the fresh kill you found lying around was either picked clean or slightly mutated. But something told her that this area wouldn't disappoint. She shook her massive head and continued on. Then she scented it. The tang of fresh, normal, deer. Her mouth just thinking about it and she dropped to her stomach, peeking out through the brush she saw it. A slim doe nosing around in the brush, oblivious to the predator's presence. Something within the lioness clicked and she let her primal instincts kick in. Carefully she crept foreward, stopping only once when the doe lifted its head but thankfully ducked back down.

The lioness waited, her haunches tensing while her claws slid from their sheaths and dug into the earth. One more second passed, then the lioness sprang forth from the underbrush with a load roar.

Unfortunately, the doe was quicker and moved swiftly out of the way and sprinted through the brush. With an angry snarl the cat took off after it, kicking up clumps of earth behind her. Every muscle screamed at her to yield but the hunger spurred her on, tempting her with the promise of relief. She was not going to give up!

Both animals kept up a steady pace until they reached a rather uneven terrain. It was then, like one of the trees pitied her, that the doe tripped on an exposed root. The doe let out a small cry and crumpled to the ground, sliding a few feet until hitting a large oak tree on the other side of the clearing. It's brown eyes stared up in terror as the lioness stalked foreward, licking her lips. Closer and closer and closer --

"Andromeda!"

Who? The lioness growled and jumped back in surprise as a man jumped from the bushes wielding a small shard of iron, slashing it back and forth like it was a sword. He was not an unattractive specimen: tall, handsome, a head of wild blonde curls. But his attractiveness really wasn't any of her concern right now. Now, he was between her and her first meal in days. She exposed her teeth tore at the ground with her claws.

However, the stranger did not back down. Instead he planted his feet firmly and, without taking his eyes off her, said something to the doe. "Are you alright?"

To her complete astonishment, the doe began to melt away into a young woman. Her breath came in harsh pants and she tucked a dark lock of hair behind her ear. "Yeah, I'm good for almost being eaten. Thanks for the concern, Jon."

Jon tipped his head in agreement before refocusing once again on her. "Listen, I'm fairly certain that lions don't come to our neck of the woods very often, so you're either a shifter like Andromeda," he gestured at the woman with his free hand, "or some sort of werelion, which would be super cool to be honest." Andromeda rolled her eyes and Jon cleared his throat. "I'm Jonothan, son of the angel Raziel. Please, reveal yourself."

A child of Raziel? Nephilim. The world sounded bitter, even in her head, and she was inclined to take her chances eating them both. But something stopped her. Whether it was the way he was swinging the tiny iron scrap like Excalibur or the fact that he had just defended a shifter that stopped her, she didn't know. Whatever it was couldn't be ignored. Reluctantly she sheathed her claws and let herself transform. Both Andromeda and Jonathon stared at her expectantly and she sighed. "My name is Sheena. Sorry I tried to eat you but I'm actually starving. Do you have anything to spare?"

"For you, my brave Consul I have plenty."

"No more gathering patrols for you. Ever. Unless you have three guards. Or a whole army! But we'd need an army for that. How long do you it will take for us to get an army?"

"Shut up."

"This is is serious! You were almost eaten!"

"Right here guys. And I already apologized."

"And I accepted. Be cool, Jon. Please? I'm honestly fine -- just bruised. I'll stay in for a few days just to keep you happy, but then I'm going back out."

"Fine."

"Maybe you should talk to the new guy? He seemed a little dazed when he walked out of here."

Andromeda said from her position in front of Jonothan's desk. It was an antique, salvaged from an old store down the street. It had taken all three of them to move it down the street and into the huge mansion that made up the Ascended's quarters. If he was totally being honest, it completed the space. He had taken extra care and had even started carving the runes of all the factions into it's aged surface.

That could wait though. The new guy in question was Derek, a young Warlock boy Sheena had found out on patrol. He had been quiet through Jonothan's orientation and left immediately after it had ended. Even his cat, Sandy, looked uninterested in his carefully planned out speech. She looked deep in thought, hands crossed over her chest while her eyes glittered in the sunlight. Jonathan had to admit that his healer had begun to scare him but that wasn't important right now. He pushed his hair back and sighed.

"I don't really know what to say. 'Hey, sorry your village was destroyed, wanna chat?' or 'Hey, I heard all Warlocks have a demonic parent who's yours?" Andromeda rolled her eyes at that one. "Or even better yet: 'Hey, why does your soul-cat look about ready to kill me?'"

"Okay, breathe." He did so and Andromeda laid a hand on his shoulder, reminding him vaguely of the first night in Tortuga with his father. An involuntary rush of fear flooded into him and he looked desperatley up at his friend. She smiled softly, "You'll know what to say. I promise. Just...be cool. He's one of us now and you shouldn't hide from him because you're afraid he'll hate you."

"What if he does hate me?"

"Try to believe he doesn't. Trust me."

With Andromeda's advice ringing in his ears, Jonathan exited his home in search of Derek. The young hunter couldn't have gone very far into the woods since he didn't know the terrain. Perhaps he'd gotten himself eaten by a bear? No, No that would be highly unlikely considering his previous training. Plus Sheena was out and any bears she encountered would end up as rugs. Still, the thought lingered. His boots crunched on the dirt path out of the village and he had almost gotten to the treeline when an angry hiss blocked his path. Jonathan stopped dead in his tracks as Sandy sat, staring up at him with possibly murderous eyes. She flicked her tail and hissed again.

Great, just great! Jonathan knew that it would be easy to sidestep the cat and go into the woods but that was a bad idea for two reasons. One: Sandy was most likely a demon cat that actually looked ready to eat him. And two: Sandy was Derek's familiar, an extension of his soul. Instead of wasting time looking for the man, why not just ask the cat? "This is stupid." He muttered to himself and crouched so that he could look Sandy in the eyes (which may or not have had literal flames flicking in them), and spoke. "Sandy, I need to find Derek. I feel like I maybe came off a little cold but I was just nervous. I've kind of been a nervous wreck ever since I got here and I really just want to make him feel at home. So, uh, can you please let me pass?"

Sandy cocked her head, pondering his proposal. He smiled kindly (and desperately) at her, hoping she'd pity him. To his amazement it seemed to work. The orange tabby meowed relucantly and began walking into the forest, tail held high. Jonathan took that as an invitation and followed. The two walked along a small dirt pathway that led into a particularly flowery part of the woods where Andromeda said most of the herbs grow. She was right too. Brightly colored flowers and plants bloomed at every corner and Jonathan felt more determined when he looked at him. Sandy meowed at him and sat near a patch of golden flowers, proceeding to wash herself as he stepped foreward.

Derek was there in the middle of the clearing, his eyes closed in complete concentration as he swirled his hands and manipulated the crackling blue magic that wove between them. It obeyed his every move like a dance partner. Jonathan was so transfixed that he almost didn't hear Derek speak. "Enjoying yourself?"

Jonathan blinked, remembering where he was. "Oh, apologies. I've just never seen real Warlock magic before."

"I've never heard that term before. Back in my old village we were simply magic wielders." His voice got very sullen and the magic paled in response. "I miss them."

"I can relate to that." Jon sighed and shook his head. "Before Tortuga, I lived in an another village. It was strictly Nephilim and my Ascended was wary of Otherbloods, so much that he refused to let any of them in. He spoke of purity and bloodline, something I could not stand for. I left that way behind, and left my family in the process. But I wouldn't stay there."

The magic suddenly died out and Derek turned to him with his eyes still closed. "I'm sorry to hear about your family and thank you for the concern about my village. Sandy just told me what you said to her earlier." He said with a light grin. Upon hearing her master adress her, Sandy looked up briefly from her grooming to purr at him. Then his face fell and he shook his head. "Your kindness is much appreciated, but there is something I should show you that will probably make your mind change."

"I highly doubt that."

Derek took a deep breath and opened his eyes. Jonathan let out an involuntary gasp because instead of the normal brown they were entirely ice blue. The pupil had morphed into what looked like a large white snowflake. Derek bit his lip anxiously, blinked, and all at once his eyes were once again normal. He looked at Jonathan shamefully. "Nobody in my old village could do that...nobody but me. I'm able to control it most of the time, except when I get angry or scared." He looked down at his boots and Sandy gave a pitiful mewl. "I also have terrible dreams, of a place that nightmares fear. Something calls to me from there. I hope that this doesn't change your decision to let me stay. But if it does, I will go without protest."

For a second, Jonathan was too shocked to speak. From what he'd known, Warlocks were secretive about their marks, the trait that labelled them a half-demon, so to have Derek put that much trust in him was incredible. Slowly, he made his way across the clearing and put a hand on the younger man's shoulder. Derek glanced shyly up at him. "When I founded this village, I swore never to turn anyone away, regardless of if they were Otherblooded. Unless you set loose a pack of hellhounds or turn me into a cow, I'm never going to think less of you. Ever. Do you believe me?"

Derek was quiet a second, then matched his Ascended's smile. "Completely."

Winter
Winter is here! During winter, your villagers will likely catch even less prey and the odds of deaths during births will continue to rise. In addition, they are far more prone to catching sickness and are more likely to die from even a mild cold if not taken care of properly.

For some villages, they will see the first snows begin. Harvest time is over and most animals will be simultaneously at their most vulnerable yet less likely to be found.

The village of PeachTree is a calm one, nestled deep within a jungle supposedly home to the supernatural. Tree-houses are abundant and life springs from every corner. The village has a neutral reputation, choosing not to pick fights and refraining to start them either. Only if their Allies are in trouble do The Terracotta and The Defenders spring into action. The territory is spread out across a large portion of a jungle. Three rivers run through the jungle that affect all who come into Peach Tree. Any and All species are welcome into the arms of Peach Tree's environment whatever the skin tone, eye color, or hair color may be. This makes for unique diversity throughout the village. For life is like a Peach Tree, forever growing and changing.
