Fall
Fall is here! During fall, birthings will be difficult and the chances of mothers or children dying during birth will rise dramatically without the help of a skilled shaman. There is also a lessened chance of catching more prey or finding new people and skilled animals, and the odds of sickness will rise.

New villages must beware the cold winds and declining food supply. Farmers are advised to hoard their seeds while hunters and gatherers should be sent out in larger groups to increase their chances of finding something. Larger villages ought to consider sending their warriors and scouts to the marketplace in order to trade for needed supplies that can help them last through the winter.

Announcements
Little reminder that the advent calendar is ongoing for the entirety of December! You must make a note in your post that you are opening the calendar for day(s) X and are requesting to roll for Y prize, with the exception of the day 7 prize where you simply inform your mod what crafted item from here you are claiming. Anyone can participate, including new villages. The advent calendar will be open for claims until January 11 unless you have contacted me prior to ask for an extension.

Additionally, feel free to include Christopher Conch as our resident traveler who documents life in the CAV world. Of course, the only rule is that he cannot die.

"Ah." Airi sighed. Building a village was not easy on it's own, but building a village from scratch? That's practically asking for a death wish. She was hoping to find something or somebody to help her start growing her village. Airi just didn't want this to be another 'project' that she had just given up on. Hopefully, her efforts would not be in vain...

Airi decided to go to a magical spot nearby the village, one she had found long, long ago. In a tree, it had naturally formed a bowl of some sorts. In the middle, there were lots of leaves and a gemstone. It looked green, unlike when Airi found it long ago. Perhaps, just maybe, the gemstone switches colors when different leaders come to visit it? The gemstone glimmered in the sunlight, and that's when she decided to begin. "Dear ancestors..." Airi started. She was a tad nervous, never have done this before. Please answer my call, like you answered everyone who came before me. I request some help from you... would you perhaps send me a shaman to help the present and future villagers heal from their wounds.. Airi paused for a bit, thinking of what she could say. "...Thank you for listening." she ended.

After that, she tried and go both hunt and protect the borders. Perhaps a bit too much activity for a normal person, but she was a kitsune, she could handle anything!

Romeo groaned as he lay on his bed, head buried in a pillow.

Herobrine had been serious. He'd actually done it. Romeo had just been teasing when he'd asked for a shaman.

And what does Herobrine do?

He actually sends the shaman!!!

Then, while Romeo was walking the border (since Herobrine didn't have the decency to give him a horse) he found probably the most annoying old man, in the entire universe.

The guy called himself Brick.

Literally, called himself Brick. The man only spoke in the third person, which was probably the most annoying trait Romeo had seen in humankind...ever.

Ivy was...tolerable. She spent most of her time walking around town and reading. And she didn't spend all of her time talking to herself.

She'd settled herself into the other small house, while Brick had claimed one of the larger houses for the Hunters.

Whatever. As long as he stayed away from Romeo, then he was fine. (Like. Far. Far away.)

A pounding noise broke through Romeo's thoughts.
"Urrrgggghhhh I'm coming." He called, lifting the pillow off of his face. The knocks stopped, thankfully, and Romeo dropped the pillow back onto his head.

He got another three minutes of quiet before the person at the door resumed knocking.

"Alright!" he snapped, shoving the pillow off of his face and rolling around to get off the bed.

Stalking to the door and wishing he had his powers again so he could blast the hands off of whoever was standing there, Romeo threw the wooden door open and glared at.
No.
No. no no no no.

"Brick sees that Romeo appears angry with him, but Brick does not mind. Many people were angry with Brick in his old village, that is why he is here in a new village. Will Romeo banish him like Brick's old leader did? Brick will have to wait and see."

Romeo felt his eye twitching. Sucking in a breath of air through his teeth, Romeo growled out "What can I do for you?"

Brick smiled widely "Romeo asked what he could do for Brick, Brick is pleased by this. The old village was not this pleasant. Perhaps Romeo is not angry at Brick, perhaps he is simply angry about the time of morning."

Romeo growled, before snapping out "Yes, four in the morning is far too early to be disturbed. What do you want."

Brick frowned slightly "Perhaps Brick was just wrong. Romeo does seem quite angry. Perhaps Brick should have come later. But it is too late to have come later as Brick is here now. So Brick will ask his question."

Romeo's eye twitched again.

"Brick has come to ask Romeo if Romeo would care to join Brick on a hunt. Brick saw many wild animals on Brick's way to Beacontown, and would greatly enjoy Romeo's company."

"You pounded my door in at four in the morning, to ask if I wanted to hunt with you?" Romeo demanded.

Brick nodded happily. "Brick nods in response to Romeo's question." he says.

Romeo's eyes narrow. "Brick, let me be perfectly clear when I say. I would rather be dragged through a swamp by my left pinkie toe, than go hunting with you."

Brick sighs (narrating as such, before adding) "Brick understands. Brick also hopes that Romeo will oneday change his opinion of Brick. Brick is happy that Ivy enjoys Brick's company, though Brick is sad that Ivy is a shaman, and cannot go Hunting with Brick. Brick turns to leave, allowing Romeo a chance to change his mind." Brick paused, turned with his back facing Romeo.

Romeo took a step backwards, and slammed his door shut. He could hear Brick mumbling to himself as he left, and walked back over to his bed. Flopping back down on it, Romeo muttered "Where was I?"

Oh yeah, complaining. Herobrine, if you can hear this, then whenever you let me have my powers back, I hope you know I'm putting you through all the torture you put me through.

Next Wish to Raziel: today

The graveyard was a place Andromeda never wanted to go. It stood silent on the edge of the camp, a patch of undisturbed soil where no vegetation dared crow except for the bones of a willow tree that did not move. And yet, her feet sunk into the soft dirt as she walked across it. Even the air smelled rancid and sad. She stopped in the very center and looked down. An iron slab lay across the ground caked in crimson and her heart nearly stopped. Then from somewhere in the distance, a woman screamed and a baby wailed. Andromeda tried to move toward them but her feet would not budge. "Let me help them!" She screamed, pulling restlessly at her knees and dress, trying to make any progress.
"You will." Said Raziel, suddenly appearing to her in a bright light. His wings flared out behind him like swords. Andromeda closed her eyes against the glare and said nothing, only giving a weak shake of her head in protest. The angel continued, a low boom in her ears. "The time will come when a new Ascended rises from blood and blade. The heir will be his in words alone. Protect him through darkness, protect his blood from being shed, and soon it will ascend into a new dawn. This is the prophecy, Healer. It will not be changed."
And then somebody was shaking her awake. Andromeda's eyes flew open and she scrambled, throwing her elbow into the jaw of her assailant with a violent crack. The figure let out a yelp and let go, letting the frantic Healer perch on the back of the cot, wielding a big book of human anatomy as a weapon.
"Raziel on high, Andy!" The person exclaimed, rubbing his jaw. Through the haze of adrenaline, Andromeda realized with a jolt she had just assaulted Jonathon.
The book dropped to the ground. "Sorry. Jon, I-" She started but couldn't finish. Raziel's warning popped back into her head. A new Ascended rises from blood and blade. For a moment, it echoed. Then she looked back at Jon and deep in her stomach realized she had received an omen. An omen of death.
Jon cocked his head, dropping some of his curls into his eyes. "Uh, Andromeda?" He asked, pulling the healer from her epiphany. "You alright? I heard you screaming from next door."
Andromeda nodded, tucking her knotted hair behind her ear. "Yeah, yeah." She muttered. "Just a bad dream is all. Is everything alright?"
"With me? Besides the bruise, I'm probably going to have? Yep. Just a little nervous about Gweyn's ceremony today. I mean, he'll be out first Unruned. And I know that Aster and Kirin are going to be doing a Seelie ritual to go along with it." He smiled nervously. "I don't want to screw it up, y'know?"
His mouth was moving. She could hear his voice. She nodded along with his words.
But all she heard was the woman screaming and the feeling of anguish deep in her chest.

As the sun rose to its position at midday, the entire village of Tortuga gathered around the Glass Lake for the first Unruned ceremony. Sheena stood beside Kirin and Henrietta on the as representatives of their factions. In front of them was Andromeda and Jonathan who were speaking to each other in soft tones. Aster was exchanging a few words with Gwyn. Although the young seelie was less interested in what the trapper was saying and instead was fidgeting under Kirin's eye, which kept flicking over to him with its usual non-existent warmth.
Finally, Jon clapped his hands together. "Gwyn, will you please step foreword?"
Gwyn gulped and Aster patted him on the back before stepping back to stand by Derek. Gwyn looked at Kirin, clenched his fists, and took a step.
"We are here today before Raziel to celebrate the rank-up of Gwyn Amarason, son of the Seelie Realm, from child to Unruned." Jon's voice rang over the clearing. He looked down at Gwyn. "Will you kneel before Raziel and your village?"
"I will always." Gwyn responded clearly, obeying the command and sinking down on one knee. From behind the Ascended, Kirin took a deep breath and let it out methodically.
"Will you listen and learn from the Masters?"
"I will always."
"And when the time comes, will you choose your role before the angel and your own heart?"
"I will."
Then did Jon nod his head and dip two fingers into the clear waters of the lake. "By the eyes of the angel and my people I do make you a true Unruned." He drew his fingers across Gwynn's forehead. The cool water made the boy shiver but he closed his eyes and accepted his baptism.
Afterwords, Jon caught Kirin's eye. The two made a silent acknowledgment and then moved quickly into each other's positions. Gwyn stared up at him and Kirin also dipped two fingers into the lake but this time scooping up the light brown mud. "With this sacred Earth you also receive the title of Swordsman, defender of the fairy realm and the Earth herself." Carefully, he made two small lines under Gwynn's eyes, like little crescent moons, and three dots down the bridge of his nose. Kirin took another deep breath and pride glinted in his eyes. "Now may you serve the birds, bees, and the bugs as you serve your people."
He stepped back and allowed Gwyn to rise and bask in the applause of his village, the first Unruned of Tortuga.

In accordance with both fae and Nephilim traditions, the Unruned has to stand vigil by the lake the night before they began training. So when everyone had left, Gwyn remained. He sat cross-legged on the bank, swirling his fingers around the surface. Kirin has half a mind to go and cuff him over the ears. A knight did not sit down during his watch, no matter the circumstances. But he elected to conduct his own detached vigil from one of the small rocky hills overlooking the lake. He wasn't watching because he wanted to. He was watching so that he could make sure Gwyn respected the ancient traditions the same way he did when a sword was first put in his hand. How he missed his sword. It was almost like Derek's feline, a piece of his soul made tangible. And he had lost it when the Realm sealed itself from him. His chest ached at the thought of his home. He wondered whether Gwyn remembered any of it: the weeping trees and the endless drift of pink petals. The scent of magic and light all around. Or had he grown up in the world of humanity, knowing nothing of his own kind.
"Would you mind company?" Came a soft, lilting voice.
Kirin did not look back but he could imagine. Soft blue hair in two braids, a soft smile, dazzling eyes...
He cleared his throat and shifted his feet under him. "Not now, Henrietta. This is something solitary." Not that I'd ever not mind your company.
Henrietta hummed and Kirin's chest betrayed him with a burst of warmth. She sighed. "Still, it must be awfully boring."
"It must be done."
"Okay." A beat. "He looks up to you, you know. I've seen it in his eyes when he thinks you won't notice." Kirin didn't know how to respond so he set his jaw and let Henry continue. "I'm glad he's adjusted though. The first few nights he would not sleep through the night, always restless. He would walk outside and past my garden. I can't sleep either so I let him tend my plants. After a while he would start to get tired and I'd let him sleep n my quarters. I hope that you will find some peace tonight as well."
Kirin's heart thrummed in his chest as the words brushed lightly on his neck. He still said nothing and Henry took her leave, not before a single flower bloomed beside his boot. He reached down and plucked it, admiring the shimmering gold petals. A rare smile appeared on his lips as he gingerly tucked the flower behind his ear before settling in for his watch.
