The National Range Trotters Association (NRTrA) holds local and national events for owners who have an interested investment in furthering the competitive development of the breed. While they only host and cater to Cross-Country, Dressage and Endurance Trial competitors, they are always welcoming of enthusiasts of other event types to come and take part!
Each event type they host has specific guidelines that must be met before entry is permitted, listed below.

• All competitors must have their stables registered with the NRTrA to compete.
• Trotters must have a show-braided tail to compete in Cross-Country trials.
• Trotters may or may not have feathering present.
• Trotters may or may not have a loose mane to compete in Cross-Country trials.
• Trotters will be barred entry if they do not have a Braided tail reference.

• All competitors must have their stables registered with the NRTrA to compete.
• Trotters must have a show-braided mane and tail to compete in Dressage trials.
• Trotters cannot have feathered fetlocks to compete in Dressage trials.
• Trotters will be barred entry if they do not have a Braided Mane & Tail, and trimmed fetlock reference.

• All competitors must have their stables registered with the NRTrA to compete.
• Trotters must have a loose mane and tail to compete in Endurance trials.
• Trotters must have feathered fetlocks to compete in Endurance trials.
• Trotters will be barred entry if they do not have a Loose Mane & Tail, and a feathered fetlock reference.

• All competitors must have their stables registered with the NRTrA to compete.
• Trotters must have a braided mane and loose tail to compete in Harness Racing.
• Trotters cannot have feathers fetlocks to compete in Harness Racing.
• Trotters will be barred entry if they do not have a Braided Mane, Loose Tail and trimmed fetlock reference.
