●xxxx✦xxxx● xxxx✦xxxx●xxxx ✦xxxx●xxxx✦xxxx● welcome! ✦xxxx●xxxx✦xxxx●xxxx✦xxxx ●xxxx✦xxxx●xxxx✦ ╭
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╮
The Viscet Reference Repository is a project dedicated to providing
references for the viscet community. The sketches provided therein
are all donated from the aforementioned community for the free use
as references for drawing the adoptable species found here.
-
I got this idea not too long ago, when it occurred to me that viscet
anatomy is unique, and it’s difficult to come across references.
This is fine if you read how their anatomy works and have a good
understanding of anatomy. But if you are a novice or have trouble
imagining it, then it can be quite difficult. So the idea for this was
born to help out the community~
-
*We are always open to donations for the repository, the
information/form to donate can be found in the second post.*
-
You must read and abide by the rules before using the sketches
provided. You are responsible for following the rules. Not reading the
rules will not be an acceptable reason for not abiding by them.
Not following the rules can result in thread warnings, a thread ban, and
reports to the CS staff in extreme circumstances. The rules are subject to
change, but if/when they change I will leave a message on this thread to
inform everyone. ╰
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╯
When using these references/this thread…
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
You can...
◤xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◥
Use the sketches for referencing purposes.
This applies to personal art/gift art
/try-out art/art-trade.
Mix and match references
to create a unique drawing/family picture
/couples picture.
Follow the reference
as closely or loosely as you like.
Link to this thread/these references
as something to give an artist an idea of the
species anatomy when you are commissioning
someone (make sure they know that they can’t
directly reference from any image on here for
their commission)
Request a specific pose on the thread,
however it may not get done if there are no artists
up to doing it.
◣xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◢
You must...
◤xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◥
Give a link-back to this thread
if you post your finished drawing on DeviantART or
another art-site.
Give credit where credit is due.
If you are asked who made the drawing, make
sure to tell them you referenced off of an image
found on this thread when you tell them you drew
it, even on CS.
◣xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◢
VISCETS?!
VISCETS?!
OH MY GOD
VISCETS?!
VISCETS!!!
You cannot....
◤xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◥
Trace the sketches.
These are for referencing, not tracing. If you do
trace it for practice, do not post them on CS or
anywhere else without stating that it was traced
each time that it is posted or linked anywhere as
well as linking to this thread and crediting the
original artist (preferably with a link). It is highly
preferred that you do not post traced images
though.*EDIT 11/28/2015* You can, however,
trace small part(s) of the image (i.e. you can trace a
leg you are having trouble with ect) as long as
70+ percent isn't traced, that's fine <3
Claim as your own.
Color in the sketch as-is.
Post your referenced drawings offsite
w/o a link back to this thread or the artist (you only
have to link to one or the other, not both)
Take commissions with a lineart
closely referenced from these sketches (though making
the lineart free to use or taking free color-ins is fine and
encouraged, it’s a great way to give to the community!)
Use a sketch for a reference on the thread
that has not been added to the Repository (I.e. if someone
posts an image for red-lining, that does not give you permission
to use it)
Argue or bash on the thread.
Redline or critique work
when the artist has not requested for others to do so.
◣xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◢
You are encouraged to...
◤xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx◥
Thank the artists
who have provided the reference(s) on this thread.
Post the referenced pictures anywhere,
spreading the viscet love is always encouraged!
Share your images here,
be they completely original work or referenced
from something here.
Ask for red-lining here
(on referenced and non-referenced viscet images.
Be sure to include whether it was referenced or not)
Hold discussions on the thread
as long as it is viscet and drawing/art related.

Separate folders are down below.
Side views/profiles | Headshots/busts | Couples | Miscellanious | Running/other action poses | Sleeping/laying down
General References | Parent(s)+Viscling(s)
How to donate to the repository;;
Create a viscet sketch (it can be rough or refined) and PM me OR Mint Chip with the title “Viscet Art” make sure it is spelled correctly, so that it goes into an auto-folder for the purpose of keeping track. Fill out the form below for each sketch/reference you wish to donate and send that in your PM. Be sure to read the rules before you fill out the form!
- Code: Select all
Do you wish to remain anonymous?: Yes/No
If not, please put your username here:
Sketch you wish to donate:
What type of pose is it?:
Is the reference a preexisting sketch/lineart?:
If so, in what way have you used it before?:
Have you read the submission rules?:
I, [insert username here], give permission for anyone to use my sketch provided above as a reference for their own work.
Submission Rules/guidlines:
-The submitted sketch/art must remain true to viscet anatomy (it doesn’t have to be perfect, just recognizable)
-Do not submit colored-in works (line arts or sketches are fine)
-No transparent images. The image must have a white background.
-You may use preexisting work, as long as you drew it and it has not been used for a commission or as a pay-to-use line art.
-You can submit traditional art, as long as you have a clear image of it.
-You are still allowed to use your own sketch, though to avoid confusion be sure to post that it’s from a sketch you donated to the repository.
-You cannot, however, sell commissions/color ins of said art after donating it, to avoid possible confusion.
-Do not submit traced work/heavily referenced work.
-You cannot make additional stipulations for using your sketch. This includes saying it can only be used for a specific gender or a specific type of couple (i.e. homosexual or heterosexual)
-And most importantly, have fun! This is just an awesome thing for the community.
I would only reject a submission for not following the rules, any skill level is allowed. If you need help redlining first, feel free to ask on the thread or PM me :3Coding done by asiya. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

Soulsplosion wrote:[What is a Viscet?]
Since I have no better way of explaining it, Viscets are basically otter-ferret-kangaroo-rabbit-raptor-things.
Anatomy wrote:Viscets are large, agile creatures characterized by
✦Furred, raptor-like bodies
✦Wolf-like paws with opposable thumbs & sharp claws
✦Ferret-like muzzles & sharp fangs
✦Long ears
✦Double-ringed eyes, with a lighter inner ring of color
✦8ft in height and 12 in length
✦
Some traits may vary.✦Horns, antlers, scales, & spikes
Genders wrote: ✦Male and Female Viscets are almost identical both physically & socially, except for the obvious.
✦The only significant difference is the female's adapt ability to carry & balance with heavy objects, as they have to be in order to carry their eggs.
✦Male, Female, and Other-gendered Viscets are considered equal in terms of dominance and ranks within the pack
✦Only Viscets of opposite sexes can breed. Unisex creatures are usually infertile, and it is impossible for them or homosexual pairs to reproduce.
✦Viscets are entirely capable of gender expression and genders besides male and female are treated equally.
Distribution wrote:✦Viscets are found on every continent but Antarctica.
✦They tend to inhabit temperate forest zones; not open plains or dense jungles, but somewhere in between.
✦They tend to avoid deserts, and remain near water sources.
✦Their lifestyle can be greatly impacted depending on their environment. While
most live in forests, they are well-adapted to almost any environment.
✦They avoid urban and suburban areas unless in captivity.
Food wrote:Viscets are Omnivorous. They feed on:
✦Fruit & berries
✦Nuts
✦Small mammals
✦Fish
✦Large mammals
✦Domestic animals
What they eat is directly effected by what is available in their environment. It's not unheard of for them to steal domestic animals, and will hunt down large prey in packs.
Social wrote: ✦Live in packs, the size of which depends on food & space available
✦Ruled by Alpha pair; The Alpha of a pure bloodline is considered more dominant over his or her mate.
✦Alpha may be passed on to heir, beta, or to a winning competitor.
✦Viscets are territorial, and mark their territory by clawing a tree up high; invaders will know how big their enemies are from the claw marks. They will chase cougars/wolves/large carnivores from their territory.
✦2 Viscets will spar with tooth and claw.
Relationship with Humans wrote: ✦Due to their friendly nature, they are adored by humans and protected in many places, but some often seek to hunt them for their exotic pelts. Some cultures even revere them as spirits.
✦Domesticated Viscets are popular at petting zoos, companion animals, and even therapy pets.
✦As pack animals, they are incredibly loyal and protective of their family.
✦They cannot speak any human language, but are extremely intelligent and easily trained.
✦Strays can exist in urban/surburban areas, even making packs.
Breeding wrote:✦Go to the
Nursery for breeding.
✦Viscets usually mate for life, but just like people, not all relationships are perfect.
✦Viscets may be any gender/sexuality, but only fertile pairs can successfully breed.
✦Mating season occurs in the late winter; a fragile egg is laid after 2 months; the egg hatches 2 weeks later.
✦The mother will stay with the egg, even carrying it with her out of the den. The father often fetches food and guards his family. That summer is spent raising the Viscling.
✦Viscling's hind legs are underdeveloped and they must walk on all fours.
✦They are considered independent at 1 year of age, but will not breed until 2 years of age. Their first breeding season, they will learn how to raise young, but will not do so until the following breeding season.
✦Nursery times are drastically shortened.

This is so helpful! Thank you guys so much. <3 I always have a hard time figuring out the anatomy behind Viscets...
I think this is allowed, and sorry if it isn't, but could someone critique this for me? (It was not referenced from anything on here. ^^)

Sorry it's so small, it's part of a larger image...
