Extra points for Ban

Ban looked around at the agility course before him, everything looked and sounded strange and spooky. His handler led him around the obstacles and he warily sniffed each decoration. The spooky music make him jump and he snarled at the floating ghosts and scary looking jack-o-lanterns but with some encouragement from his handler he soon settled down and began to get his head in the game.

He started his practise run over the jumps well enough and the bridge seemed okay enough for him to handle but when it came to the tunnel he hesitated and looked up at his handler for reassurance. She gave him a pat, a gentle nod and he was filled with courage again. Sprinting through the tunnel he made it out the other side and cleared the poles ahead of it with ease.

Clearing a final jump he bounded over to his handler who gave him a treat and his favourite toy to congratulate him. Hopefully now he was used to the course and its decorations he could pull off a good run for his real test.

Bonus for "DK Quick as Lightning/Bolt":

Bolt takes a deep breath, taking in all of the new scents. The agility course looked so different now, it even smelt different too. His usual course has now changed to be something much spookier. At first, it scared him. But on closer inspection, he found the new decorations rather charming.

The ghostly shapes draped over the course and added to this new, unfamiliar theme. Although he could smell burning from the round, carved faces, he didn't seem to mind them. To him, this new atmosphere made it more exciting in a way. It was different but in a way that made it all the more worth doing.

He snapped back to what was happening, realising that he took a bit too long surveying the new scenery. Everyone else was already lined up and ready to go. He quickly took his place beside the others, focusing on his goal. He would appreciate the new decorations afterwards. (156 words)

Chester freezes, staring at the strange scene before him. He had been expecting the course to look similar to... well, to all the other times, right? Wrong. The entire course is covered in strange colors and the cows... the cows are zombies. It's not like Chester is afraid of them persay. What could make you think that? The way his tail is curling between his legs, or maybe the way his ears are back? No no no. He's not afraid!

Shivering just a bit, Chester steps forward and barks at a zombie cow to get its attention. He hopes it's not going to eat his brain. But the cow just turns its head to stare at him and blink before looking away, unnerved. Chester relaxes, realizing this is just part of the game. Yes, of course he didn't think they were really zombies haha. That would be... silly.

Grinning, Chester crouches, ready to start.

Almond glanced around, nervous about the new location. Seeing some of his kids with him, he raised his head high. I have to be brave for them, Almond thought, even though Almond was uncertain of the different competition location and with the scary-looking objects. Shaking his coat, he tried to relax and glanced up at his handler, knowing she'd help him. "Your fine boy," the handler murmured, knowing the dogs may be nervous or scared in this location. Seeing his handler was relaxed, he decided he was safe, knowing nothing could harm him with his favorite person here.

Tail wagging, he saw what he'd be herding, tilting his head curiously at the sheep that had been shaved. Weird, he thought, they may look different, but I can do this, my handler is not afraid, and neither am I, Almond finished his thought. Stepping into the arena, he froze for a moment, noticing the new smells and costumes around him. Okay, this is scary than I thought, as Almond heard a different starting sound, which made him jump at first, but then his handler directed him in what to do. Okay, just the same old, but different looking, the collie thought as he started listening to the handler focusing on herding the sheep into their pen. Finishing, Almond returned to his handler, panting. "Good boy Almond," the handler said as they left the arena, getting a treat that smelled different, and he gave it a slow lick before taking it greedily. That was weird but fun, he thought, tail wagging as he sat to the side to watch his kids compete in their trials.

Paradise felt apprehensive for this event before loading into the kennel transport van, she isn't a very brave dog and needs the encouragement of others to overcome her fears; she had overcome many of them at her time in High bridge but preparing for the unknown was something no one could train, so paradise knew she had to face her own fears, she was spooked by all of the new additions at first; namely the course decorations and all of the zombie cows lurking around; but she soon perked up when watching the first entries to the sports and watching those collies face the new and potentially spooky course. When it was her time to complete the course; paradise was still timid; as soon as the decorated ducks came out; all she felt was humor as they ran around with extravagant decor on them. At the end of her event she had a blast! Even going for some orange dyed vanilla ice cream with her handler to praise her for a round well done!

This was nothing like the times she'd been here before. When Catra stepped into the building, a wave of sounds and smells crashed over her. People and dogs alike chartered excitedly, and the smell of pumpkins and fire filled the air.

"A little warning would have been nice" she mumbled to herself. Melog nudged her comfortingly, seeming to be a little apprehensive himself. "Just ignore it and we'll do fine," she told him with a shrug.

She'd already tried out for MX and failed (it wasn't her fault, something distracted her!), but this course was completely different. The obsicals had been painted, with the tunnel looking as if it were full of cobwebs and the jumps bordered with bouquets and pumpkins. Catra hadn't practiced for this.

But the collie had a reputation to uphold, and was the master of "not caring". Putting on a bored yet determined face, she followed her owner in the standard procedure, preparing to try her hardest. All this new stuff was different, sure, but it wouldn't stand in her way of the title. She was stronger than that.
