You're currently residing in the skeleton of what used to be New York City, now a wasteland, eaten away by disease and the elements. Some survivors have taken to the road, independence comforting them in this harsh time. A band of peace fighters known as CRUCIAL, reside in the Catskill Mountains about 100 miles from New York City. They've dedicated their time to aiding survivors in the fight against the dead and working to find a cure for the epidemic, though their existence is questioned. Nevertheless, they are your last hope for survival. Whether you choose to find them, gather your own pack, or allow self-reliance to be the end of you... is in your hands.

♣ Jayce is a complex personality, a young boy with a big heart. He is extremely bold and considers himself a fearless individual. This of course isn't all true though he likes to think that of himself, convincing himself there is nothing to fear during the apocalypse, despite the obvious. Jayce is known to keep to himself for the most part, partnership proving a difficult task for him. He is relatively untrusting of others from the start, working independently until given a reason otherwise. He is sharp minded and a quick thinker, easy to get himself out of difficult situation and prides himself on his physical speed, agility, and overall stealth. His distrust of others leads to his deceitfulness, often telling others a fake name and facts about himself that are untrue to mask his true self. This is an occasional thing for Jayce though once the trustworthiness of another is evident, he'll begin to open up. Those who know him can vouch that he is a kind and compassionate spirit, protective of anyone he grows close to. His sarcastic attitude may get on the nerves of some but can be seen as humorous to others. He is determined in every situation, hypothesizing how to get out of an ordeal though this can sometimes lead up to impulsiveness, not completely thinking something through and acting on a first thought.

H I S T O R Y

♣ Jayce had a family once, though that feeling of sanctuary with those you love is long gone. He lived with his father, a single parent, who was physically abusive to he and his little sister. When his mother passed of cancer when Jayce was only ten years old, something snapped in his once loving father's mind, driving him insane. This of course caused a rift in the relationship between he and his children. Jayce was forced to take on the role as an authority figure in his little sister's life, protecting her from all the harm he could until the disease broke out. His sister caught it easily and she died within a night. Jayce, heartbroken, decided to take to the streets, hoping his father would eventually die. He has no idea of his father's current whereabouts and whether or not he's dead, though his biggest regret was not killing the man before he left. Jayce just couldn't bring himself to do it as he still saw him as the man he was before Jayce's mother died.

♠ Troy is quick to put her trust in others, trusting her first judgment about people. She can tell fairly well the good from the bad though this isn't always the case. She is a gentle spirit and believes in fair judgment for all, often getting her into trouble when she puts her faith in people who prove to be less than worthy. She is generous and willing, considering herself a listener who is always open and more than happy to be a shoulder to cry on. She is intelligent, her vast knowledge of defense and medicine proving her place among the members of CRUCIAL. Raised by her father, Troy is tough and fairly outgoing, physically capable in every sense. She has a sharp mind though uses this against people in most cases, easily hiding information from others. She's always been finicky, very particular about how things and done and frustrated when something doesn't go as planned. Troy is also quick to be jealous, growing attached to people effortlessly and becoming nasty towards those that try and stand between. She can be seen as sarcastic to some and her humor could come across as rude if you don't know her well enough, but she has good intention behind her words and actions. Troy is overall a friendly and capable girl who is easy to befriend and who will honor that friendship through thick and thin. Her boyish personality is compatible and easy to get along with, though she is intimidated by girls.

H I S T O R Y

♠ Troy was born to David and Lacey, a happy couple who raised her in New York. All was well with their family though David had originally wanted a son. Frustrated by Troy being a girl, he refused to let that stop him from raising a child how he wanted, thus giving her a name typical to boys and raising her alongside the opposite gender. She took part in various team sports as a kid, the only girl on the majority of the teams as her dad had always wanted to raise her that way. She was much closer to her dad than her mom, finding it hard to bond with her mom who was less interested in the physical activities she took part in, but when the two did bond it was usually at the hospital where her mother worked. Her brother came along years after her and though she always has a protective mentality towards him, she felt he had replaced her in the family as her father had always wanted a boy and now he had one. Her father caught the disease first but didn't think anything of it at the time. She awoke one night to find her dead father, reanimated as a zombie, devouring her mother's corpse. This was a horrifying sight for any young girl, an imagine still burned in her mind. She then set off in search of CRUCIAL, with her brother, joining their ranks as a medic after proving her vast knowledge.

♦ Forced to mature quickly, River feels behind in life, a constant battle to catch up to others and prove himself worthy. He's adventurous and tries to push his limits, determined to be better than the day before. He is often seen practicing fighting and exercising to get in the best shape possible for physical tasks. He prides himself on his fearlessness and his ability to show lack of emotion when in scary situations, keeping a poker face when inside he may be trembling. He's a patient boy who loves to learn and listen to others, always interested in hearing something new. He's extremely kind with a heart of gold and one of the easiest people to befriend. He has an overall trusting nature but can sense when someone doesn't have the best intentions, often wary around new people but kind to them nevertheless. He is known to be a compulsive liar and is seen as deceitful but lots, studying the mannerisms of a liar and perfecting his behavior so lies slip by undetected. He's also seen as ruthless, doing whatever he can to protect those he loves and though this may be seen as a bad quality to some, he uses it in favor of his team, not selfishly. He's very sneaky and is often seen running about, doing things he may or may not be allowed to do, but is hardly caught for them. Because of his age and being forced to become so mature so quickly, he's naive in some senses and can be over emotional, attaching himself easily to people and taking remarks very personally.

H I S T O R Y

♦ River was born four years after his sister Troy and was raised mainly by his mother for his first few years as his father was focused on making Troy into a tough girl. He didn't mind this, mainly because he couldn't remember, but by the time he was old enough to play sports his father had turned his attention to him. He felt that this made Troy resentful towards him. He and his sister weren't very close in their younger days and still have their kinks to work out together, but it was clear Troy's feelings for River when they were kids weren't positive. After his parents died, Troy took him from their home and the two trekked off to find CRUCIAL. She became a larger figure in his life, teaching him about fighting and everything her father has passed down to her. The two bonded after the death of their parents but there was still a divide between them because Troy always seemed to have her best interest in mind when looking after the pair and River had to learn how to care for himself, which was painful as he loves her very much.

☁ Evan is a twisted individual you wouldn't want to run into. With a deadly history, Evan is a living embodiment of his dangerous childhood and work line. He's extremely aggressive and easy to snap at people. He has little patience with others and prefers to work alone for this reason though if he finds people with shared interests he's willing to cooperate. He's merciless and finds comfort in killing, the act the one thing that isn't foreign to him. He's very cunning and being caught up in his lies and tangled in his stories is easy. He's also a charming character though this side of him is usually just a disguise to draw you in. Evan is rather reserved, keeping to himself for the most part. He is loyal to his family who are now all dead, so loyalty isn't in the question any more for him. He's a perfectionist and very critical of himself, always trying to prove something to someone. This quality in him was very damaging, shaping who he is now as he was always pushing himself for more. Despite all of this, Evan does have sympathy for others. He has a heart beneath all of the darkness that is evident on the surface but he prefers to keep that to himself. Though he may seem friendly at first, it's best advised you stay away. From his extensive gun collection to the charming words that roll off his tongue, Evan is a compulsive liar- and a good one at that.

H I S T O R Y

☁ Evan was born and raised in Ireland, his accent thick and lovely. His father was an Irish mobster who specialized in the gun trade. Evan grew up around mob activity, often running errands for the criminals he shared a roof with and not caring much about the things that went on in his home. From age ten he knew he wanted to succeed his father in the trade, doing everything he could to prove to his father he was worthy. When a war broke out within several previously aligned groups, Evan was assigned as a hitman to take out those opposing his father's operation. His line of work eventually took him to New York City where he went to follow a man who was trying to counteract their business overseas. Evan killed him though decided not to return home to Ireland, working as an international associate to his father's business. When the disease broke out, he lost contact with his family and became a much more hardened and reserved individual, taking to the streets of New York to perfect his "practice".
