{Esperanza (Last name Unknown) "Espy", standing at five feet four inches, and a slight 110 lbs, aged 17, is not by outward appearances very intimidating, unless you consider the wings and slight tinge of green to her skin. Both of which are the result of the genetic engineers at the "Facility". Her frame seems almost too slight to carry the breadth of her wings and the skin which covers it is tinted such a pale color of green you might not notice in the right light, except maybe to think she was ill. Bright light, the little of it she's been exposed to, however makes it much more noticeable. Her eyes are a soft hazel, primarily brown with green and gold flecks, which honestly play well off the soft dark auburn hair she generally keeps pinned back because it's so long. The facility insisted she keep the length to disguise her features. She supposes the Facility preferred to have her more hidden because of her skin tone, though the wings would certainly tip people off.
She was trained primarily in long range weapons, though she did learn hand to hand and close range combat as well, she is deathly dangerous at long distances. Though trained in lasers, semi-nuclear mini missiles, and quite accurate with stellar rays, she preferred "ancient" long-range weapons such as the bow and rifle. In hand to hand combat, she surprised her trainers frequently with her strength, though she has a tendency to be clumsy. Apparently, the hummingbird's stunning agility was not something she genetically received.
Her interpersonal skills with peers are non-existent. Having such an odd visage she wasn't permitted to interact with any of the other Tendits. Ever. Her one saving grace was a boy named Farin that shared a wall with her. Her room was at the end of the long hall and he was her only neighbor. However, it was determined quickly in her early years that she was incredibly bright and articulate. She was taught all of the core subjects in classes, and excelled, though not very interested in "arithmetic". Her instructors at the facility found her to be easy to teach and she developed a very adult perspective in being isolated among them.

{ The night of the famed escape, Esperanza went thoroughly unnoticed by the fellow Tendits in their rush to vacate the premises. Two things contributed to the nightmare that was her own disastrous exit from the facility. First of which being her terror. For as long as she can remember, Espy was deathly afraid of what her instructors told her existed beyond the walls of the Facility. War. Murder. People who would kill her just at the sight of her. She didn't want any part of the escape, even told Farin so through the vent in their shared wall. She didn't want to leave, at first. But as the events played out that evening, she realized she was far safer outside than in. She hid in her room, not answering Farin when he called her out. She heard him make his own way away from their corner of the ward. Then she heard the guards. She heard the bird-like shrieks of the injured and/or dying that filled the void of her quiet cell. She ventured a peek out of her opened door. As she did she was spotted by an instructor she had always admired and trusted, and it was he that attacked.
Running blindly through the halls she knew so well, with his blood covering her and not really sure how it got there, she ended up in the shooting range, sweating profusely and nearly unable to breathe. Pausing before stepping into the shadowy room, she heard a click, a guard, who she didn't recognize was coming toward her. She grabbed the nearest weapons available and let her wings fly. Frantically dodging shots, Facility staff, and guards, she barely managed to make it out. Dawn breaking, she ducked into a manhole, and followed the sewers to safety.
Espy was exhausted, injured, apparently a stellar ray had damaged her right wing, and fighting the urge to pass out from the smell and rats crawling everywhere, that or the bite from who knew what bug or spider swelling on her hand. She ventured a peek through a storm gutter out into the "real world". The sun was fully shining, and even though she was nervous about being seen, especially given her appearance, and the obvious stench that was reeking off of her, she shimmied herself up to get a better view.
The street was dead quiet, though she knew it must be mid-morning by now. Espy walked the few feet from the gutter to the nearest manhole cover and pushing it up slightly, climbed out, and darted into the closest building, an abandoned mechanic shop. She crawled into what was left of a rusty old car and passed out.
