Coastalclan lives on a sandy oceanic beach that inhabits a human city, paired with docks for boats and other sea-fare. They hold two different campsites, depending on the weather and how high they predict the tide to be, the ones predicting being the clan’s Tidespeakers. Their main camp lies within a cave alongside the edge of the beach, the human city far enough away to ensure their own safety, where humans don’t travel far enough to warrant danger. Their secondary camp is within a thicket in the woods that border the beach, where they stay when the tide is high and would entrap them within their primary camp. There are also several islands within a short distance from the beach that the cats regularly visit, be it for basking, hunting down fish, or just enjoying the scenery of the ocean meeting the sky.
Where the human settlement is, the ground is gently sloped to make it easier for humans to traverse. The farther you get from the settlement, however, the slope deepens and rocky outcroppings begin to form until there's a huge wall of rock alongside the beach with several caves, overhangs, and otherwise diverse formations of rock. A road sits atop several miles of the wall, separating the beach from the woods that borders it. There are several rocky streams within the woods that connect to the ocean and to lakes deeper in the woods.
Bobcats live in the wooded area of their territory - both a boon and a bane. Many bobcats are territorial and will fight for their territory. but there are some that are friendly, and that's how bobcat - domestic cat hybrids have happened, and became a common occurrence within the clan. Many are hybrids, sporting a similar brown/grey coat with black spotted stripes and pointed ears with tufts at the end. They’re also larger than a typical domestic cat, stockier with larger paws and wider faces that have longer tufts of fur along their cheeks. Unfortunately, oftentimes with their breedings, the female will pass away either from the mating itself, or birthing the kits.
Their diet consists mostly of fish, from both the ocean and the streams that run through the woods. Mackerel and ocean whitefish are common ocean fish while trout, bluegill, bass, carp, and salmon when in season are their freshwater options. They do eat the occasional bird, rabbit, or amphibian, but fish make up their main diet. Occasionally they collect minnows, shiners, and anchovies to have smaller meals for kits, too. With being so close to a human settlement, the humans also try to feed them from time to time, and who are they to say no to free food? They also regularly eat crabs, snails, turtles, reef snakes, and clams. They’ve adapted to have stronger bites to break into shells and eat the flesh inside, as well as claws able to grasp at these shelled prey items. While lots of these fish can be quite sizable, the cats have adapted to their surroundings and have developed strong enough claws and teeth to grip onto larger prey, sometimes up to 2/3rds of their size and the hybrids even larger. Some hybrids can even take down newborn deer, though that is rare and usually requires a pack.
That being said...if a human tries to feed them, who are they to say no to free food?
Bobcats are of course a danger to the clan when they become territorial, but so are other animals of the woods, like wolves and adult deer protecting their young. Birds of prey will not only snatch up kits but full grown cats as well, and the foxes and cougars prove to be formidable foes as well. On the beach there's less animal dangers - aside from washed up jellyfish, any stranded marine animals, such as sea lions and of course sharks when in the water - but it comes with the leading cause of death and biggest danger of all: drowning.
Coastalclan isn't the only clan in these lands. They boarder Veldclan - where the land evens out into a large span of grasslands - and Morassclan - where the land begins to sink as water floods it into a stinky, humid marsh. Beyond them are Aridclan, Summitclan, and Evergreenclan, all living their own lives in peace with each other and their neighbors. The word "war" is rarely in the clans' vocabulary, as they find themselves all content with their territories and have no desire to encroach on boarders or steal what isn't theirs.
Every full moon the leaders and a small group of cats from each clan meet at the Moon Tree, a massive weeping willow that lays at the center between all territories. There, they share accomplishments as well as dangers and any perils they clans may be facing. It is a time to share information to keep everyone up to date and prepared for what may be going on in their land. Similarly, every half-moon, healers and their apprentices will meet with each other at the Crystal Lake, a lake that shimmers and shines as if filled with reflecting gemstones, as well as a tall, sparkling rock that juts out from the middle of it. It lays more towards Summitclan's territory, which makes it quite a travel for certain clans, but it is their duty to speak to Starclan, and the Crystal Lake is full of spirits that connect them to their ancestors.
