Cranepaw || he/they || med. app
camp clearing | tags: Larkpaw

It was a relief that Larkpaw responded well to his cheerful greeting, and even more so his sarcasm. Not every cat liked his overly cheerful demeanor, which he understood, but it did make for some awkward encounters at times. He had a feeling Larkpaw wouldn't mind much, though. They weren't close per say - not at all, actually - but they were from the same clan originally so he did somewhat know the other tom. Enough at least to know he wasn't the type to be particularly rude or grouchy about an early morning greeting. Grinning, Cranepaw chuckled good-naturedly, replying, "Oh, yeah, a quick dip in the completely warm and not freezing at all water sounds so nice right about now!"

Just then Larkpaw's eyes flicked over to a different part of camp, and Cranepaw followed his gaze, spotting Applebriar just slinking in and taking a seat by the camp entrance. Of course. Naturally there were always going to be some rulebreakers. And - if Silentshadow's furious expression and lashing tail over on the gathering rock were anything to go by - some cats were not all too happy about it.

"Yeah, he really should know better," he murmured in agreement, watching as the brown and white tom started striding towards where the deputy was calling them all to gather, looking equally upset. He hoped this wasn't another fight brewing, he was more than tired of those.

Turning back to Larkpaw, he startled when he wasn't there, looking around and realizing the tom had started for the gathering spot. Scrambling after him, he followed along, taking a seat near the gathering rock and flicking a nervous glance between Applebriar, Silentshadow, and now Larkpaw, who was also glaring at the former Snowclan warrior. 'Why can't we all just get along?' he silently bemoaned.

Applebriar was in the midst of cleaning his pelt when he felt eyes like flames burning into him, sending a chill along his spine. Looking up, he met eyes with an absolutely furious looking Silentshadow and could only think, 'Mousedung.' She stared him down for a moment, clearly intending him to see her anger, before yowling for the clan to gather. Immediately he stiffened, glaring back. What kind of right did she think she had to call a clan gathering so suddenly? And what, to scold him? Or make an example of him? She wasn't even the leader, just the deputy.

A growl rumbled low in his throat. 'Both the leader and deputy are from Pineclan so of course they'll target us Snowclan cats, I should have seen it coming. We never should have followed them here.'

Lashing his tail, he stood, shaking the chill off as he strode steadily towards the gathering rock, taking his place with confidence and staring up at the deputy as though to challenge her. However, when Bramblefrost appeared nearby and began striking up a friendly conversation with her he couldn't help but roll his eyes and scoff. He couldn't believe he was trying to play nice with them. So much for being a loyal Snowclan cat. 'Well, I'm not going to be cowed by her,' he thought, sitting tall and twitching his whiskers.

Silent 2. | White 1.

The mottled molly's gaze softened instantly as she heard a cat mew to her. Silentshadow stopped lashing her tail in irritation as she listened to the young tom attempting to small talk with her. "This leaf-bare is indeed fairly colder than it has in the past but we will do our best to find what prey we can." Silentshadow purred as her gaze turned towards Bramblefrost. "Go ahead and take Whiteflame, Hexmoon and Maplesong." the deputy added as she began to leap from the meeting rock. Silentshadow was too worried to send out all of the warriors at the same time.. after all there were only seven warriors left.

Sending only a few warriors at a time seemed to be a safer bet than sending all out at once. She felt it was better to wait for them to return before sending a hunting patrol. It was a subject that the molly wanted to speak to Nightstar about and see what her opinion was. Silentshadow did her best to take as much weight off of Nightstar's shoulders when it came to the clan's safety but she also relied on her as well for a second opinion. A sigh escaped her maw as she slightly dipped her head to Bramblefrost and then turned her gaze back to Applebriar.

'I'll have to deal with that tom later...' Silentshadow thought to herself as she sharpened her eyes towards the tom once more until she turned to make her way towards Nightstar. For a moment she just realized she had almost forgotten to grab Larkpaw, she remembered seeing him sitting with the others after she called for the clan. The mottled she-cat stopped in her tracks as the wind blew into her fur as she looked for her apprentice. She hurried towards Larkpaw and gently pressed her nose on his head while slightly purring. "Come along Larkpaw." Silentshadow purred as her pelt fluffed out trying to keep warm.

Whiteflame
〖Male〗〖Warrior〗〖46 m〗

〖Location: Warrior's den〗

The white flame-point tom flicked his ears as he began hearing his fellow clan mates begin to stir in the warrior's den. His ice blue eyes narrowed as he watched a few of the warriors leave the den. Whiteflame's thoughts urged him to get up and join them but his body said other wise. The older tom had no intention on getting up as early with the others in that moment in time. As the tom closed his eyes for what seemed like only a few moments, he shot his eyes back open and slowly raised his head up to somewhat peer outside the den when he heard Silentshadow yowl.

A small sigh escaped the tom's maw as he stood from his nest and slowly began making his way out of the warrior's den. It took a moment for Whiteflame to prepare himself to leave the den, it seemed that Maplesong and Juniperstep had decided to sit near the entrance of the den. The older tom didn't blame his clan mates one bit.

Bramblefrost | He/Him | Warrior | Tags: Silentshadow, Maplesong, Whiteflame, Hexmoon, Junipestep

Bramblefrost's eyes shone brightly as he nodded in response to his deputy, "I-I'll find all the prey I can!" He told her with a smile, before getting up and trotting towards the warrior's den. Poking his head inside he called "Maplesong, Whiteflame, Hexmoon! We've got a patrol!" It took a second before he'd realize that Maplesong and Juniperstep were right next to the entrance and he felt his ear tips go hot. "s-sorry, I didn't mean to yowl in your ears" He said to the tom and she-cat, "We're going to patrol and hunt, if you'd like to join us Juniperstep! Another set of paw's can't hurt! We need all the food we can get for leafbare." He smiled at the two, almost a little shy, but his whiskers twitched eagerly.

He glanced around and see Whiteflame approaching already, smiling at the tom. "I know it's cold but we can manage together!"

maplesong's ears pricked in the direction of the meeting rock as she heard her name mentioned. it seemed like she would be hunting today, just not with juniperstep. "ah, mouse-dung!" she mewed to the tom that she was sat next to, "it seems like we won't be hunting together today anyway." the young she-cat watched in amusement as bramblefrost padded over from the centre of camp, straight past her and juniperstep, and into the entrance of the den to call out her name for the hunting patrol. a giggle escaped her when the young warrior realised she was sitting right there. "oh that's okay bramblefrost! i needed something to wake me up this morning!" she teased, lifting a paw to gently tap him around his ears. maplesong beamed back at him before turning to juniperstep once more. "oh yes, you definitely should join us! those long legs of yours should give you the advantage when hunting for those snow hares i've seen hopping about!" as she finished speaking she saw whiteflame padding up to the entrance of the den. "oh, good morning, whiteflame! are you ready for today's hunt?" she mewed in greeting, with a polite nod of her russet head.

    larkpaw ● he/him ● apprentice ● tags: cranepaw, silentshadow

the scuffling of paws behind him made larkpaw snicker as he turned his head to see cranepaw hurrying to catch him up. he gave his denmate a teasing flick on the shoulder with his tail as he settled down to listen to his mentor's orders for the day. out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of cranepaw shifting his gaze between larkpaw, silentshadow and applebriar and scoffed inwardly to himself. he's far too sympathetic to the cat's from that other clan. he judged, narrowing his eyes in distaste.

larkpaw's attention was drawn to the present again when he saw silentshadow jump down from the meeting rock and start padding towards nightstar. he then watched as she paused briefly before turning tail and hurrying over to him. an amused purr rumbled in his chest as he lifted his head to meet his mentor's nose as she reached down towards him. "see you later, cranepaw!" he mewed in good-bye to his fellow apprentice as he stood to follow his mentor for the day's training.

Ravenflight | he/him | location: warrior den | tags: Honeypaw

Ravenflight blinked slowly, his eyes unfocusing as he stared at the wall of the warriors' den. He had been lying awake for most of the night, unable to sleep. While his back faced the interior of the den, his ears flicked at any little sound. He laid still as the rising sun's first rays entered the den and listened to the sounds of his clanmates waking for the day. This was his morning ritual nearly every day. He barely slept anymore since the attack on Pineclan. He would never admit it to them, but he wasn't just lying awake to listen for threats from outside the den - he was prepared for danger from the inside. He was willing to share a den with former Snowclan cats, especially in these cold leaf-bare moons, but only if he slept with one eye open.

When the den was finally silent, he forced his weary eyes open and slowly arose and stretched. He looked down at his sister, Honeypaw, who had been dozing curled up at his side. He hated to disturb their rest, but prey was scarce and threats could be lurking around the camp's borders. If he wanted to make sure his sister and their clanmates - at least, the ones he trusted - were safe, there was no time for either of them to sleep. He nudged his sister gently. "Honeypaw, wake up."

Honeypaw | she/they | location: warrior den | tags: Ravenflight

Unlike her half-brother, Honeypaw had no problem sleeping these days. In fact, she was constantly tired. The cold weather and lack of plentiful food didn't help. As she felt her brother stir beside her, she curled up tighter into a ball, ignoring his first few nudges. When Ravenflight stopped suggesting and started demanding that they get up, Honeypaw finally groaned but gave in and stumbled to their feet. This was their usual morning ritual. Although she belonged in the apprentice den, socializing with other cats her age, Ravenflight insisted that his little sister sleep in the warrior den. It was unusual for an apprentice, but the newly-formed clan was struggling to hold on to the old ways anyways ever since their lives were torn apart. Honeypaw went along with Ravenflight's paranoid hovering, but they were embarrassed to be babied by their older brother. "Alright, I'm getting up," she conceded.

As the two exited the warrior den, she caught sight of Larkpaw and Cranepaw sitting together. Eager to get out from under her brother's suffocating supervision and hang out with other apprentices, she immediately started to make her way over to them. Ravenflight let his little sibling run away, reassured that she was socializing with other former Pineclan cats, but still called out behind them: "Be safe!"

Ravenflight | he/him | location: camp | tags: Honeypaw, open

Ravenflight watched his sister go until he was sure they were safe in the company of the other apprentices, then he headed to the spot where his clanmates were gathering. He sat down a little distance away from the group and curled his tail around his paws, shivering. He had thought he was used to chilly leaf-bare weather in their old territory, but never quite this cold. His narrowed eyes watched the other clan cats start to move around camp, taking notice of their activities for a moment. Ravenflight listened to Silentshadow's orders, bristling a little when she only announced one patrol of a few warriors. He didn't like to question the former-Pineclan deputy's judgment, but he disagreed - they should have all hands on deck during such a harsh leaf-bare. They needed every healthy warrior and apprentice out hunting in order to find enough food for everyone. He didn't even consider the point that sending every warrior out to hunt would leave their camp vulnerable. He mumbled to himself and hoped that Nightstar would step in to assign more patrols soon. Until then, there was nothing else to do but try to make himself useful at camp.

Honeypaw | she/they | location: camp | tags: Cranepaw

Honeypaw shyly approached the two other apprentices as they waited to be assigned tasks for the day, unsure what to say and not wanting to interrupt. She awkwardly lingered a little distance away from them, eavesdropping for a bit until they noticed Larkpaw start to depart with his mentor, leaving Cranepaw by himself. She knew both of the toms from their former clan, but had never been a very extroverted cat. As Larkpaw and Silentshadow left, they turned to Cranepaw and meekly squeaked out a friendly, "Good morning!"

Silverwhisker ~ they/she ~ warrior

Mentions: Nightstar, Birchpelt/Cranepaw

Silverwhisker gathered their haunches beneath them and took a steadying breath. In... Then out... A powerful push sent them up one ledge higher, and they didn't even have to scramble up the side.

Proud of herself, she was studying her next jump to continue scaling the wall of the ravine when she heard the sounds of cats stirring and making polite conversation in camp. Delighted and hoping to tag on to a morning hunting patrol, they turned a bit too quickly, and lost their footing on the smooth, narrow foothold they'd been so delicately balanced on. She felt the cold stone sliding along her pelt as she fell, her tail arcing and twisting to re-orient her in the air. They landed awkwardly, with a small scattering of pebbles, and Silverwhisker didn't know whether to thank Starclan that they hadn't climbed very far or curse over this embarrassing entrance. They gracelessly stepped and slid down the rest of the way into the clearing, ears hot with shame.

"Sorry about that," she meowed, hoping her voice didn't wobble too much. They avoided making eye contact with Nightstar, sure the older cat would be frustrated at their foolishness. Can Clan cats be demoted back to apprentice? They pushed away the nervous thought, sure that it was unreasonable - they'd never seen or heard of that happening - but quietly wished they could ask Pebblepaw and be called a mousebrain for wondering.

Her heart ached a bit at the thought of her friend, and she cast her eyes to the ground, mentally shaking away the memories. Once composed, she opened her eyes, and with a jolt, noticed a bit of blood tinting the ground near her paw. She lifted it slightly and, seeing that a claw had torn, did let a small curse slip this time. Hopefully Birchpelt or Cranepaw could patch her up.
