Black feathers crowed, the air tense and heavy with stress. I stood beside four others in a sea of swaying green, two to my left, and two on my right, ready for whatever or whoever would step out from behind the trees. My eyes caught pacing black shadows, their faces only a blur as they waited, excited of what was to come - but we had no idea what it was. There was one slight second that I felt his cold, dead eyes staring at me as if I were a meal - I was already dead to him- his yellow gaze all but sickening. "Now!" the fae beside me called, suddenly appearing 20 feet ahead of where I stood. Another on my right did as she, appearing behind one of the black wolves, launching himself onto it. Fire and electricity sparked across the plains, several dead bodies collapsing to the ground, and I stood in the center of it all. Waiting for the right moment. One of my allies lay limp on the burnt foliage, not another loved one shall die. I surged, and several trees fell before our eyes, a loud boom of thunder echoing through the forest. The wind vacuuming the life out of the shadowed dogs. That was the first time I had ever used my abilities. And then I noticed.... we aren't the same.

You might take one look at us, and claim that we're the ordinary. That every other wolf is built the same. That, in fact, we are the same. But I protest the opposite. We live as a team, a large family. Choosing to overlook the differences we might have to be able to live - somewhat - harmoniously, but the fact is... we're different. Each of us have our own abilities, not only like average wolves would, but we.... we have a certain power. For instance, there are several females in my pack who can soar as if crows in flight. Some use sonar, mapping out their surroundings, or maybe teleport. I know a group who can bend the elements, and I....well that's for you to find out. Though it is rare that a soul should have two abilities, it's not impossible. But I haven't seen that since I was a pup, and the last known wolf with two abilities died off a few years ago.
Oh, and one more thing... there are some wolves who have mastered the manipulation of shadows. They are silent, and for the most part loners, but they have black pelts, and most often odd eye colors...such as glowing blue, red, or black.... we call them 'stalkers' no. Not because they're creepy...well, okay...partway because of that. But because they can sneak very well, they most often are around us and we don't even know. A lot of them are angry creatures, but because they are swift, predators to our pack. Like a stalker. Stalkers most often have one of the five powers, pus shadow manipulation: teleport short distances, invisibility, fire, and mind control. They are considered the best hunters, whether that be deer, or us.
