'Ordinary,' is that how she came across as? Just ordinary? That wasn't entirely true at all, in fact... it was far from the truth. On the outside, Nilari looked like an abnormally tall she-wolf. Pitch black fur with amber orbs, as if the bright amber was swimming in a void silhouette. Muscle hidden underneath and a bite made to kill.
That's how she viewed herself, a killer but only for the good of the pack. Thats why she's a guardian after all. Yet she could be molded into something more dangerous. Something that any opposing pack would fear or even her own pack itself. The Beta's words rung in her ears, 'He's wary of me..' the she-wolf thought to herself. He was right of course, any ordinarything would infact retaliate if provoked.
Yet she wanted his attention. Not in the way she imagined but here he was, here with her. Alone. They were here in the grove. The crystals looked as if they were pulsing, waiting to drain the life out of whatever came near them. Scattered shards dancing around the bigger crystals, waiting to puncture. Nilari noticed Arcturus shift his composure, uneasy
it had to be the crystals. She wondered what the shards could possiblydo to her, how it would drain her ability just like that.
As Arcturus spoke once more, Nilari met his gaze as he moved. Studying his posture, watching as how he tested the sharpness of the shard sticking from the ground. A thought came across her mind. If this was some other creature entirely or a member of the pack she despised then she would easily shove that wolf into the crystal. A glint in her amber eyes spoke that for her. The she-wolf didn't reply to him as he spoke of her finding a way to drive back the poison in the air. Nilari had suspected the same for Arcturus, untouched by the thick poisonous air.
Silence. That's all Nilari could think. Only the humming of the grove is what pierced the she-wolf's ears. The quietbegan to weigh down on Nilari as she was being interrogated by the Beta. The word 'Plain,' escaped his maw. This caused anger to begin rising from deep within Nilari. Supressed by all other emotions she felt. Bottled up anger. She didnt hear what else Arcturus said. He was getting under her skin.
His question however snapped her out of what anger she felt. He knew. This ability shes kept hidden all this time. She had no reason to use it, not for some time anyways. His questions began to overwhelm her. Asking her whom shes used it on. It would be a lie if she said no one yet she hasn't used it on anyone alive for that matter. 'Starting give me a reason to use this ability on you.. Arcturus. ' Nilari thought to herself.
There had been times where shes wanted to dive into his mind, just to see if there was any trace of him being interested in her, but she never did. Again, it would put her at risk of being banished from her pack. The pack where she was born and raised. The pack she is sworn to protect.
The Beta's words echoed in her ears once more with a hiss in his tone. Her ears pressed against her skull as he lashed all of these insilts in her face. Baskara. That was who came to mind. The soul she bent to her will but not without a mark to remind her of the deed she had done. In her mind it was nessicary. But was it really?
As Arcturus snapped at Nilari, his gentle tone now gone. Beginning to threaten her in every way he can. She watched the male circle her once more, her head swivling to keep watch of him. Until she finally turned her gaze down to the ground below, her ears still pinned to her skull. "It was Baskara." Nilari finally spoke. Her tone quiet and monotone. She had supressed whatever feelings she felt deep down within her. Detached from reality.
Her mind raced as she recalled exactly what had happened that day in the Endless Forest. His grey pelt and black horns. Golden eyes. Nilari remembered watching as the light left his eyes. The taste of iron in her maw. Pushing the thought away she returned her bold gaze towards Arcturus. Wondering exactly what he was going to do.
