The Sanctuary
Darius was just loving the hilarious attitude from these kids. That Kale dude with the bright green eyes, look at him. Green with envy. Green with disgust. This big mommy's boy was sucking up to the high-and-mighty sun lovers. All the little kids were siding with Cilan, just because of his bloodline. There was no other reason.
Come on. Darius was smarter, taller, and heck of a lot tougher. Cilan was an even worse mommy's boy than Kale! He was a pathetic snivelling idiot who had apparently already died. See? He couldn't even defend himself.
He smirked at the stupid emotional disgrace coming from those hotheads. It was so funny. Look at Amber, trying to threaten Regina. Everyone here was like twice her size. Darius could squish Amber like a bug, no problem. Regina just had to speak the word, and he would kill the weak disgraces, a valiant knight fighting for his beautiful Queen's favor.
Regina threatened that little sucker right back. Darius smugly smiled at Amber, knowing that Regina had obviously won this battle. The stupid sun huggers were gonna die crying for mommy.
"So," He said once the idiots were talking amongst themselves again. "Been a while, lovely. Why don't we take a walk and we'll catch up?"
Cilantro was pleasantly surprised that a stranger was pledging his allegiance. The taller brunette was backing up his words, and even lowering his head so he wasn't towering over everyone. Cilan and this boy had never met before, yet the Prince saw only candid loyalty on the newcomer's face.
He had promised he wasn't going to cry, but his lip began to tremble when Amber confessed her love. He had to bite down hard on the inside of his lip until he tasted blood, to stop himself from sobbing into her arms and telling her how much he had missed her, how much he realized he needed her in his life, how he had realized it too late after he lost her. He wouldn't do that in front of Regina. Cilan felt two tears falling from his eyes, even with all the effort he was making to stay calm and act like his mother.
He took a deep breath once Amber pulled away. The Prince clutched her hand, feeling like he was drawing all his strength from her presence. He really did seem to stand taller and straighter with her by his side. And here they were, making their stand together against the rebel trying to tear them apart.
Once Amber and Regina had finished, he silently fixed the blonde girl with a long look. Not even exactly a glare. It was the kind of look that Queen Solara would give assassins, warning them not to do something they might regret. The assassin would usually attack her anyway- and die as a result.
If Regina didn't heed this warning and attacked any of his comrades, she would meet the same fate. Except Cilan was probably not as quick as his mother.
Amber then mentioned her group. So the brunette boy wasn't the only one. Cilan knew his mother was coming back, but this soon? That was even better. He could bring the sun back once and for all. Once Agatha saw this, she might as well give up. There was no hope for her plans to destroy Hesenia.
We can do this. After all this time, we're finally reaching the end of this war. Cilan was overcome with hope- he swore he could feel their hearts beating to the same rhythm. Yes, his heart was beating again. We're going to win. We're going to see the sun again.
We're going to save the world.
"I can come, and so can Timpani and Mayne." Cilan gestured to the two. They had never stirred up conflict. Despite Timpani's rough demeanor, both of them created more peace than war within the group. "I can't wait to see Mother again. I can feel it, I'm ready now. I'm going to bring the sun back."
He was smiling again. "We're going to watch the sun rise-" His voice cracked a little, betraying the emotions he was barely hiding. It took him a second to regain his composure.
"Together."
Timpani shrugged. She wasn't exactly good at social stuff, but she was loyal to her team. She just stepped in when she was needed. Right now, things seemed to be de-escalating. No more stupid violence over dumb things. If anyone punched anyone else, Timpani was going to assert herself as an immovable wall. She would just stand there, and the idiots could punch her all they wanted. They wouldn't get anywhere. If anyone took out a weapon, she would break it. She was made out of metal after all, at least her bones probably were. She should be tough enough.
"Yeah. It's stupid. We can jump in if things get rough, but not now." She absentmindedly played with Mayne's hair. He was so soft, like the friendly birds that would fly around Windwoods and approach people without fear. Contrast that with Timpani, the woman made from old scrap metal and melted down rusty nails.
Mayne brought up the sides, just as Lily approached and asked them what sides they were on. Timpani was pretty sure of her choice. She wasn't going to create more conflict. It would just get out of control.
"Peacemaker. Who would have expected?" She even chuckled a bit. Once Timpani considered herself pretty hard-headed and fiery, but look at this. She had met people who were even more feisty firebrands. She was the one who came out of a volcano, and now she was holding back while others exploded at each other.
Maybe it was thanks to Mayne. Now she understood she couldn't afford to be violent all the time. Yeah. That was a good explanation. She didn't want him getting hurt.
"I think it's your fault I've become one, kitten," She told Mayne as she messed up his hair. The teenagers seemed to be talking about Timpani and Mayne now. What did they want?
Timpani might be a grumpy person, but she was ready to help.

Birvale Forest
Waverly was so upset, he had to force himself to laugh at Fern's joke. Only a half-hearted chuckle came out. He rose to his feet when he heard a noise in the distance. It was just an owl hooting, but it had scared him half to death. His heart was pounding so loudly, he was sure everyone could hear it.
Waverly didn't know what to do, until Sorcha's words replayed in his mind. He kept forgetting that Solara needed warmth. The thought was honestly disturbing to him. He sat down on the other side of the tall woman.
Fern was reassuring the Queen, who seemed to have calmed down. Waverly had to struggle to hear Solara's reply.
"My sweet child... thank... you."
"I think if she calls you her child, you can call her mom." Waverly said to Fern. He appreciated that the girl was trying to lighten the mood, but her words just kept reminding him of his own brother. Waverly couldn't just sit and cry uselessly though. He felt a sense of responsibility after Amber and Sorcha had left, so he wasn't going to bring down the mood even more. Following Sorcha's instructions, he inched closer and leaned his head on Solara's arm, still very disturbed at how cold she felt.
When the soldier returned, Waverly watched intently as she made a fire. He was normally afraid of fire, but this one made him feel better. Maybe because it came from the girl who was here to protect everyone. She then asked what everyone needed. Although she didn't look that old, she was quite responsible. Fern didn't need anything, but Waverly had a request.
"Could you s-stay with us?" He asked quietly. "I'd feel a lot safer if you stayed here."
Mostly because she was a tough protector figure, like Waverly's mom. But also because Waverly hated how Sorcha was going out alone. Something could happen to her and everyone would be left in the dark, literally and metaphorically. Not that he had the guts to accompany her into the dark forest himself. He was too scared.

The Underworld
Azuline pretended to be offended at the fact that Amelia was an assassin. She scoffed in a way that was supposed to sound really high and mighty. "Assassins are just soldiers who can't hold formation," She teased, but her smile gave herself away. "I'm just kidding. If anything, I became a soldier because I can't stealth worth disgrace. I thought I would get earthquake powers just because of how my footsteps sounded."
She couldn't really think of a good prank idea either.
"That sounds like a good idea. Are you strong enough to pick up their leader and dangle him in the air? I think James is the leader. I hope he's scared of heights, the little brat."
Zelkova had escorted too many people to the afterlife today. She was more dissatisfied with her job than ever before. Her most recent victim had been Eden Everton, a small eleven-year-old boy who Agatha killed with nightmares. Just when she thought the carnage was finally over, she received yet another beep on her pager. That was when she lost her temper and punched the nearest Underworld prisoner in the head.
Payne Winters crumpled to the ground unconscious, with a fist shaped mark on his head. His wife Meadow burst into tears and sobbed uselessly.
"Shh. Do not cry," Zelkova told her gently before her voice rose to a furious shout. "SHUT YOUR LUNO-DAMNED MOUTH!"
Meadow screamed at the top of her lungs, and ran away down the corridor. Zelkova was literally shaking with rage. This weakling was glad she hadn't been punched in the face too.
The reaper was in the worst mood ever as she disappeared, teleporting to the living world. Could these teenagers not stop killing each other? Some 'Sanctuary'!
She appeared in the cabin, which she was all too familiar with. And she saw a girl who she was also familiar with. Mallory Everton had earlier killed many soldiers with her pack. The deaths of her fellow werewolves stopped the killings. Now she herself was dead from the pathetic curse from Agatha.
Zelkova was going to do one of those passive aggressive slaps across Agatha's face. She had run out of patience for this load of disgrace. From now on, she was operating on a zero tolerance policy when it came to the dishonorable behavior.
Seeing the state of Mallory Everton though, Zelkova couldn't be angry right now. She took a few deep breaths even though she didn't need to breathe. It was just a thing that mortals did to calm their racing hearts, and Zelkova probably didn't have a heart either, but it worked somehow.
She walked over to the recently deceased girl and knelt beside her.
"Sweetie, you look like you need a hug." Zelkova murmured, gently running her hand through Mallory's hair. Personally she wanted to hug the girl too, but many people were repulsed at the thought of hugging Death. So Zelkova always waited until the other person seemed comfortable before doing that. Unlike her disgrace of a sister, she actually had consideration for other people's feelings. In the name of Solara's garden, Zelkova was in such a bad mood right now.

Celestial Tower
Clotilda was glad Jonah was here, or she would probably throw the librarian through the wall. What twerps! She could not believe the ridiculous behavior from Regina and Darius. Come on, if you wanted to lead a real rebellion, you could at least start by not insulting your potential allies.
Once she was done with her brother, she turned to Jonah with a wicked smile on her face. Ranting time. She loved to trash talk people who ticked her off, both behind their backs and to their faces. She wasn't one of those coward losers who ran away from all conflict, so obviously she would repeat all of this to someone's face without a care.
"You should have seen the way Darius was looking at Regina. It was so gross, I don't know what he sees in her. The things she said! You know, I wouldn't be surprised if she was lying. Maybe she just stood there and watched my dad die. I wouldn't put it past her to do something like that." Clove could not stop spewing her hatred for that girl. "I mean, my mom's not my favorite member of my family, but I swear if she attacks her..."
She took a few deep breaths and squeezed Jonah's hand. She was starting to yell, and this was a library. "Thanks for coming over here," She said as she looked at his hand. It was bigger than hers, which she loved to rant about, but right now she had lots of other things to rant about.

The Island
Ondine rubbed her eyes sleepily. Myrtle was being silly and hiding, until Grace started asking questions. Then he came out from behind her and started jumping up and down, squealing something that sounded like: "Ohmygosh ohmygosh let me come please please please!"
Ondine chuckled and listened to Grace's justifications. She had originally planned to leave all the men and children on the island, along with any women who weren't in the army. Among them were retired soldiers, and aspiring warriors who had just fallen short of making the cut. But Myrtle was the only orphan whose primary caretaker was leaving.
"You're coming with us," Ondine said to the kid, who started screaming and jumping around even more. "But only if you promise no screaming on the trip."
"Promise!" Myrtle's voice was suddenly a whisper.
"We're leaving as soon as the rafts are ready. I'll go check on them now," Said Ondine. Grace had already started running away, dragging the tiny excited boy behind her. Ondine chuckled and shook her head. What a handful.
Myrtle had to bite his lip so he wouldn't keep squealing in front of Ondine. "I love packing!' He told Grace, even though he had literally never packed before. His whole life, he had lived on this big island with everyone he knew. Now he was gonna see new places and meet new people! He was going to make so many friends.
Once they entered Grace's hut, he looked around the room. Wow did these girls love weapons, they were everywhere! One girl had a really messy bed. There was a sword sticking out from underneath that someone could trip over, so Myrtle nudged it back under safely. There was a coconut peeking out from under the pillow. Someone was sneaking food indoors.
"Of course!" He told Grace when she asked him to get the books, and he recklessly dove under her bed. He hit himself in the face by sliding into the two books, then he laughed at his own silliness and grabbed the books. He crawled out awkwardly, mostly having to inch his way by doing this sideways snake dance thing.
"Here you go!" He said, holding out the books. "Ooh these look like really cool smart people books. Can you read them to me when we're on the boat?"

The Desert
Peregrine gave the man a big smile. He was normally pretty shy, but he trusted Vaxas- he had heard many good things about him. The Generals somehow kept in touch, and Ondine never told Peregrine anything about how exactly. He had a theory that something supernatural linked them together. It was the only thing that made sense.
"Thanks, Vaxas. I actually haven't found my power yet, but I'm sure I will soon." The boy leaned slightly against the tall blonde as Vaxas ruffled his hair. He was so glad to actually find another... human being. As grateful as he was to Acacia, she still made him really uncomfortable.
"What's your power, sir?" He asked, not really wanting to talk about his feelings towards the spearwoman following them. Peregrine didn't have any grudge against her or something. It was just, she freaked him out.
I should have listened to Ondine and stayed away from the zombie apocalypse movie...
