How It Works- A Choose Your Own Adventure story, or CYOA for short, is a story where all participants share one character collectively.
- The way decisions are made are as follows:
1: Story will advance. I will write a decently long post describing the current story and anything new that happened since the last choice was made. This description will help move the story along, introduce new characters, and prepare for the prompt.
2: A decision and choices will be given. In the post after a story advance post I will give a decision/prompt and choices for said prompt in the same post. Some decisions may be extremely important, and these prompts will be highlighted in red. An important decision may mean that a cat could die depending on the choices the collective participants make.
3: Choices will be registered and a decision will be made. Following the decision/choices post, each participant will be able to cast one vote towards the choice that they want to make. After sixteen votes have been cast, I will give one hour for the last four participants to cast their vote before a decision is made and the story continues. Votes will be numbered and input into a random number generator on the internet. In no way is my personal preference used to influence the decision that is made. That being said, the more people that choose one choice as opposed to another, the higher the likelihood that choice will be picked in the generator; however, if even one person picks a separate choice, there is still a chance that choice could be picked by the generator. In the case of a vital/important decision, majority vote will be used instead of random selection.
4: The vote chosen will be shown, and the story will advance because of said choice. Whichever choice is made will actively tailor the story, adding a personal experience. Each branch chosen could have very different outcomes that can result with your cat or another getting sick, injured, or even killed.
The Rules1: If you are not a registered participant, please do not post on this thread. I'd like to keep the thread as clean as possible and want to reserve it to participants only. You may reserve your spot to participate in this CYOA on the discussion thread, here.
2: You don't have to read the Warrior's series to participate, but it is recommended. Having a decent knowledge of the Warrior's series will prove to be very helpful to decision making. For example, if your cat ends up becoming the medicine cat, and he or she doesn't know which herb to use to stop an elder from dying of deadly whitecough, your cat could very well cause another cat to die. (In this instance, you can also look up which herb to use on the internet. There are many sites describing herbs and their uses in the series).
3: For participants, please only post your vote on this thread. All participants can discuss what choice they think is best and why the others should pick that choice, or discuss the story itself, on the discussion page (see rule number one for the link). I highly recommend that all participants discuss which choice to make, especially in the case of an important decision. Remember, it is possible for your character to die in this adventure.
4: Each choice made is final once voting is closed. Trust me, there are going to be choices picked by the random number generator that I'm not going to agree with, but they cannot be changed once they are chosen. Please don't argue with each decision that is made, because it really is all up to chance (aside from vital/important decisions, which are majority vote).
5: Please do not argue with each other. I'd like to keep things as peaceful as possible, so please. If someone votes for a decision you don't like, and it gets picked, please don't throw a fit about it. The whole point of a CYOA is giving power to the participants.
6: I reserve the right to add more rules or remove any participant from this adventure for breaking the rules already posted. Please pm me once you've requested to participate to show you've read these rules.
