Angel laughed a bit, her voice ringing like bells through the air. "I'm afraid that I'm a bit rusty on the language of the old, but I shall answer you this: I love you too." She licked his nose, then curled around herself, laying her tail over her eyes. She tucked her black paw under her chest, closing her eyes and breathing out a soft sigh, a smile on her snow white muzzle.

Dark Flare saw his unease. "peace, Pheonix." she said gently."there is life to talk about. many things. past. future. present. there are questions to be asked, things to be discovered and rediscovered. like friendship."

"Are you suggesting that we've met before?" Phoenix asked. The fay looked familiar, but he couldn't place where he had seen her before. He knew that while he had had his mate, at least two other fays had liked him, but could she be one of them? If so, how did she find him? He had made it a point to disappear from the face of the Earth for as long as possible before re-approaching civilization. "Because I have no recollection of any fays in my life except my mate, who abandoned me, my daughters, who went with her, and two strange fays who hung around because they thought me attractive. Are you any one of these?"

Dark Flare put her head to one side. 'No. but i am saying you may lose all faith in one person, and find even more in another. you may have lost your mate, but one day you may find a whole pack to be your family. maybe you have met some one with black eyes before, but mine are probably blacker.' she had seen he didn't trust her, and was saddened. she paused. 'Pheonix can you tell me something?'

Phoenix growled at the mention of his treacherous mate. "How do you know about my mate? I've not spoken of her since the day she left. She betrayed me, and I do not wish to bring up that thorn in my side again. She deserves to be forgotten," he said, enraged. He mumbled a few choice curses under his breath, and then remembered Dark Flare's question. "What is it you want to know?" he asked, his voice laced with suspicion.

"why do you find me so hateful, so unworthy of your trust?" She cocked her head to one side and lowered it, so she was looking up at him. "Do i look like one who would betray so easily? Be truthful, please.."

"To be honest, I don't trust anyone, especially not wolves who appear out of nowhere and ask me for my name," Phoenix said. It was true. Since he had practically been abandoned, he didn't trust anyone, lest he should suffer the same fate twice.
