The deputy then shook his head, "I'm sorry, but my answer is no," he growled disapprovingly, "I'm busy with my duties as deputy. Plus, you are training an apprentice with many more moons of training to go, and we are journeying through unknown lands that are very dangerous for little kits." Cloudfoot lashed his tail at Servalnose, annoyed by the fact that she was planning on going from tom to tom asking to have their kits, "How about instead of asking for kits from others you don't know very well, you start getting acquainted with others that could become your mate in the future. I may not have a family of my own, but I know that you won't succeed very well if you just blatantly ask others." Turning away, Cloudfoot dismissed the conversation and walked away. He glanced back toward Spottedpaw, seeing that she was looking straight back at him, and nodded his head to signify that he was now available for conversation.

The white tom then sat down and curled his long tail around his front paws, "Anyway, I did end up talking to Blizzardclaw this morning, but that isn't why I wanted to talk to you." He inhaled and exhaled quietly before delving in to what he had to say, "Littlestar and I are considering making you warrior within the next moon," the deputy started, "We have taken notice of your stellar performance as of late, so we think you are ready for your warriors' assessment. The only problem is that unfortunately you will not receive your name alongside Tempestpaw if you become warrior early. While your sister has been doing well in her training too, we feel that she won't be ready until the standard age." Cloudfoot paused for a moment to catch his breath and let the news sink in. "Since know that you're also close to Tinymask, we're going to give you a choice: You can either stay an apprentice until Tempestpaw becomes warrior, or you can become warrior early to be alongside Tinymask." The deputy smiled proudly at the apprentice, nodding his head, "You don't have to make the decision today, but just know that we will accept whichever choice you make."

We wouldn't ever make you warrior just because you're close with Tinymask," he let out a deep breath of embarrassment as he tried to save himself, "Let me tell you something that I told your dad when I talked to him: You, Spottedpaw, have a maturity not a lot of apprentices have. I told him about how you came around to me after we talked that first time. You're able to see both sides of the story. You don't cling to your own beliefs or feelings. I really admire that in you." He looked away for a moment to recollect his thoughts, "You also did fantastic helping me on that patrol. I think that further proves that you're capable of yourself. As deputy I oversee the training of all apprentices, and you have already proven to me that you're likely mentally ready to take on the responsibilities of a warrior." Cloudfoot nodded approvingly to the apprentice before saying "The last thing we need to see is your hunting and your fighting."

The deputy sighed for a moment as he changed subjects, "Alright, about Blizzardclaw, I told him everything that I needed to tell him. He didn't say a word to me but I knew he was listening. I... think I finally got through to him, but I'm sure it'll still be awhile before we'll be back on good terms."

Spottedpaw only then relaxed when hearing Cloudfoot clear up what he meant, it put her at ease to make sure it wasn't just because of that they hadn't thought to have her becoming a warrior soon. She continued to listen on how he had explained why she found her ready and smiled excited, her tail swaying back and forth happily. Hearing that the deputy did talk to her father did make her pleased that they could work out and everything could turn back to normal for them. "Well it's a good step in the right direction if he at least didn't argue with you or anything but all you can do is just be patient with him. He'll come around... Probably will just be small things like not being mean I guess before he might have an actual conversation."
