WildClan -Shadows Within- (ACCEPTING)

Spiritfire grunted and his legs buckled but he didn't fall. He backed up and crawled down the tree's trunk. Great StarClan she's as heavy as Eagleheart looks! He'd often admired Eagleheart's and muscular build, as the ruddy tom climbed down the tree he decided that it ran in the family. He reached the ground with a grunt and sunk onto his belly to allow the apprentice to get off him. He wondered if his younger siblings were this heavy.

"Sorry." Dawnpaw mumbled, sliding away to go retrieve the squirrel she'd dropped. "I'm not graceful." She mumbled around the rodent, starting to paw up earth under the roots of the tree to bury it. She assumed the assessment wasn't over, and she didn't really want to look at Spiritfire after being so utterly clumsy. "Um. Are you okay? I didn't hurt you, or, or anything?" She paused in her digging- it would be pointless if he was hurt and they had to go back to camp.

Spiritfire nodded. "I'm fine. But I think that's enough training for today," he meowed. He stretched out his muscles and licked his jaws. He turned and headed back to camp.

"Yes Spiritfire." Dawnpaw mewed, breathing a quiet sigh of relief. Now she'd at least get a break and a little time to herself before she would have to deal with Shadows or the potential of embarrassing herself and her mentor again. She didn't follow Spiritfire, instead retracing her long, circuitous route to find the other squirrels she'd caught before heading back.

Heatherflight nodded. "Yes, foxes. They're dangerous predators, and smell kind of like dogs but they're fiercer and more willing to kill." She meowed. "You might go your whole life and never see one, and you'd be lucky for it, but then again probably not. So," When they reached the clearing, Heatherflight turned to face Tauntedpaw. "How would you attack a big red doglike creature that was invading your territory and threatening your kits?"

Tauntedpaw thought for a moment. "I would slice its throat right open!" He howled eagerly, slicing his paw through the air as he imitated killing a fox.

Shadowpatch nodded in agreement. "Yeah, maybe a little bit. I could use a cool-off." He meowed, sliding into the stream, lapping up a little, then climbing back out to dry off. "That feels so nice." He sighed as water pooled underneath him. He turned toward Crystalheart to shake himself out, so the droplets went spraying off to his sides, not toward her.

Crystalheart smiled at the younger tom and padded over to the waters edge. She leaned down gently and lapped up some of the cool water, smiling as it trickled down her dry throat. "That helps a lot," she meowed as she leaned back up. She sat down at the waters edge as her breathing settled back down and felt the gentle breeze ruffle her long white fur.

Shadowpatch sighed. "I wish I could get out like this more often." he mewed, lifting his nose to scent the air. Satisfied they were alone, he added more quietly, "You know, away from the Shadows. They're being nice now, but I can't forget the way they trained us and the way they took over." He sighed. "I'm so afraid for my sister, since the whole Clan is healthier and they don't approve of StarClan, you know, I fear the day they'll force her to stop being a medicine cat."

Crystalheart nodded understandingly. "It's a chance that'll happen, but I doubt it. None of them know any medical techniques or herbs in case they need them. Ravewing is the only one who knows all that," she reasoned. "But I understand your concern. The shadows aren't exactly the best cats to be hanging around. And from what I heard from Eagleheart and Cloudwing, nobody's tried to take over Cavernclan. It's rather strange, is it not?"

Shadowpatch nodded. "I don't get it, but I just know that no matter how nice they're being, the Shadows are bad news. I mean, they were evil cats in their old lives, so there's no reason for them to have changed. I guess they're being kinder because they've won, and kindness doesn't exactly lead to rebellion." He pushed a small pebble around with his paw. "But the warrior code's broken down, we're barely a Clan anymore, just kind of a group of cats. The dead don't belong amongst the living. We need to- we need to chase them out again." He was pacing now, eyes blazing, but soon quelled. "Only, I'm no tactician and we don't know who does or doesn't agree. I mean, there are only, maybe, a pawful of cats I can think of off the top of my head who would almost definitely want to go back to the way WildClan is meant to be, and we would just be crushed if we went after so many Shadows with just a few cats." He sighed.

Crystalheart nodded, agreeing. "I'm sure my kits would agree as well. I raised them to believe that Shadows are evil. Well, at least I hope I did." She stood and rested her tail on Shadowpatch's shoulder. "We still have time. Just as long as they're not plotting anything, we have all the time in the world." She paused, hesitating. "We could start talking to other cats and hopefully get an insight on their views on the Shadows," she offered, then frowned. "No, that will make them suspicious. We need a way to figure out who's on whose side." She had completely forgotten that the main reason they had come out here was to talk and hunt, but now they were plotting against the Shadows.

Ravenwing looked up from her work of cleaning some herbs up. "Yes, Sweetkit?" She asked, a smile on her face. She knew what was coming. She had known that the little kit had listened to the conversation, but she wasn't mad.
