psydonym: Chiko Maki. name: unknown.
faux age: seventeen. age: unknown. ♂
ethnicity: japanese. species: vampire

Chiko doesn't remember his name, his
family, his age, or anything about in h
is past. but that isn't uncommon for a
vampire- ones that feed on memories.

xxxxxxxxxChiko's journal, two weeks before entering a normal school.
"I've been alone since as long as I can remember. I woke up from what felt like a deep sleep three years ago. I was alone. I was in an abandoned building and the only thing I felt was the need to find someone and feed. And so I did. I've spent these three years doing just that. But I have to stop, I have to try. I can't keep ruining peoples lives like this to stay alive. I-I don't know what will happen when I stop, I don't know if I'll even be able to but I have to try..."

──── ( R O B Y N ! ! ! )

She was back in school again, her parents wishes. With a frown Robyn looked out the window of the matchmaker's office. She knew that there was something wrong with her, unless the strange looks had been out of kindness. Her mothers sharp tone snapped her mind back to reality as she was informed that she'd be meeting her new partner soon. Robyn opened her mouth, then closed it. She'd just look dumb, her parents had already told her that she'd remember everything soon. What was there to remember? In all honesty, everyone around her was a stranger, her parents didn't even seem like her parents.

With a reluctant sigh she watched them leave her in a sea of strangers. She didn't even have herself anymore, just what people told her she was like. Room 1003, where was that? It took maybe ten minutes to get there, and the professor looked rather upset at her lateness. Then it looked like they remembered something and quickly said, "We're glad you're back Robyn, please take a seat." She was the only one there. This would have lead to some horrible sense of self-awareness but the professor quickly informed her that her classmates were in another room. They were going to introduce her new partner. With a pouting face she explained how sorry she was about some "Rin". She didn't even know who they were, but nodded as if she did. Soon enough the day would be over and she could go home and tell her parents to make another appointment with a neurologist.

He'd forgotten what memories tasted like. They were always bittersweet, no matter their chemical, emotional makeup. His cold hands cradled her limp body, fangs deep in her neck at the base of her head. She was so warm, the night so cold. They were behind the school in the middle of the parking lot, the cars long since departed from that place. no. no no no no. No!! as Chiko's conscious mind returned to him, as he instinctually pushed away the girl he was holding, tears welled up in his eyes. He'd tried. He'd tried so hard. But it seemed he was destined to destroy. How much had he taken? Oh god, how much had he taken from her? He grabbed her and pulled her close, crying into her bruised shoulder. "I'm so sorry," he whispered through tears, "I am so, so sorry."

---

What was her name? Who was her family? Who was she? All the questions turned his mind into absolute nothingness. Chiko's gate was slow as he opened the door to the ever familiar school. He was getting his partner today, the one he'd have for... he couldn't remember exactly how long, but awhile. He pulled the door open to room 1003, only two people were inside. His stomach dropped as he saw her. And it was her. The girl. The girl he couldn't stop thinking about. "I thought you left," he blurted out. Not even noticing the man who'd called them both there.

She had left? The professor looked surprised and took their leave, casting a sharp glance at the boy before leaving the room. Had it been directed at him? Either way, it was just them, and maybe one or two surveillance cameras. Robyn tipped her head to the side, unbrushed clumps of the tangled mess that was her hair falling to the side. "We're... we're supposed to start with names right?" He was uneasy, nervous, kind of like her. She could remember her parents telling her to smile at her friends before she left their odd embraces. She hadn't found any "friends" thus far.

Finally Robyn's mind left its fantasy world as she quickly said, "I'm.... Robyn.... uh...." Her memory faltered for a moment before she added in a blur of words, "But... everyone keeps calling me Wren so.... I- I don't know why they think I'm a bird and I'm just making this awkward... I'm sorry...." Her head now hung down, facing the ground as that one feeling crept over her again, shame. She should have been able to relay information like that without any stuttering, her parents had even said that she knew the material they would be tested on that day so she'd be fine. And if that was the case, why was simply talking so hard?

Of course, now he'd really ruined everything. The counselor already hated him and that look just confirmed how much he was a thorn in his side. He pressed his body against the open door as the older man pushed passed him, clearly giving no concern to where Chiko was standing. sorry. he murmured internally. He turned back to her with a pitiful look he couldn't hide, not even trying to relay a smile. So, her name was Robyn. That was the girl whose memories he'd stolen. The girl in front of him was the one whose life he'd ruined. Standing in front of him was the one person he most wanted to forget, but never would.
"Names, right. I'm Chiko." He shuffled his feet, avoiding eye contact with her. They'd no doubt filled her chock full of false hope. "Your memories should return soon," they would say "it's only minor brain hemorrhaging, you'll be fine," they'd assure her. But they were wrong. She'd never remember anything, nothing he'd taken from her anyway. He wanted to know how much she still had left, if anything, but there was no delicate way of asking. Of course, Chiko never had been delicate. "H-hows the head?" oh god no, what kind of a question is that? why, why did it have to be her? couldn't it have been anyone but her?

She looked up to meet his gaze, slightly frowning at the look he'd adopted. Her head? A burst of panic shot through her veins as she ran both her hand through her hair and shakily asked, "I-Is there something wrong with i.... oh.... wait you're asking about the uh... sorry I can't remember the name...." Slowly she lowered her hands, both falling into her lap as she forced a smile and added, "It's the one where you can't remember things after a certain event... like something traumatic... uh... but the doctors said I should be fine... that was the worst case scenario and all..."

Her fingers began to wander off, playing with a fold in her skirt as she said, "No one else has asked me about my head..." With a bit of hesitation she looked up then mumbled, "uh... you didn't know a Rin did you... I can't remember his last name... sorry..."

That wasn't the answer he wanted. But how could he reasonably expect her to just say to a stranger exactly how much she could remember. And that's what he was. A stranger. But... She didn't know that. What if, what if he could make it better? What if he could be her new-old friend. No, no. He shook his head, accidentally displaying his internal confusion externally. He couldn't do that, he couldn't hurt her more. "No." He replied, in a voice much colder than he would've liked. "I didn't know you." He could only assume that 'Rin' was her, whether she'd put those pieces together or not.

He looked behind the girl at the clock on the wall. "We're going to be late. Do you remember what class is first?" after the words left his lips he immediately regretted them. Of course she didn't remember. How could he be so insensitive? "No, uh I mean... Sorry," he bowed his head and his face turned red. "I'll just ask the counselor." he muttered, before rushing out of the room before she could reply.

He ran down the hallway in the direction of the man's office. He skidded to a stop in front of the door and knocked, his stomach dropping as the ever familiar "enter, please" came. "M-mister Reed which one of our classes is first?" The older man looked up at the sound of Chiko's voice and grunted. "Sit." Chiko obeyed immediately, taking a seat in front of him and biting his lip. "I assume you've heard about Robyn?" he asked coldly, still perusing his papers. "Yes sir," "And you know that she is still recovering?" Chiko nodded. "And, I'm certian you know about the multiple reports I have received, and made, in regards to your conduct and current condition?" He opened his mouth to question what he meant by 'condition' but was interrupted. "I would've paired her with anyone but you, however, our selection process is completely random and it is not my place to interfere.
All I can say is I will not hesitate to report your case-file if you take advantage of her memory loss."

Chiko was more confused than he was already. C-case file? Current condition? Multipul reports? What wasn't he being told? "I-I don't understand," he stuttered, Mr. Reed only leaned back in his chair. "Your history may be well hidden, but our school prides itself on being able to screen all our students thoroughly." Chiko's mouth was agape. His history? What- how- who... "Your first class is biology, Maki, don't be later than you already are." The every cryptic Mr. Reed stood up and half ushered, half shoved, Chiko out of the office and closed the door behind him. Leaving him standing in the middle of the hallway, more confused than ever.

She'd been alone in the room for what felt like ages before her body decided to move. She'd just left the room as the counselor practically pushed Chiko out of his room. With a brisk sigh she stepped towards him, then stopped as her some kid yelled at her. She couldn't quite hear him, but the burst of laughter shortly afterwards hinted at some sort of insult. She didn't look back, they weren't worth her time if all they could do was call her names.

She paused for a moment, contemplating the situation. Her concentration was broken when one of them threw something at her,
an old eraser hitting the back of her head as they burst into laughter again. Her head lowered itself in shame once more, a soft, "I don't know where the room is... I'm sorry..." Robyn found herself clenching her teeth as the group of boys jeered again, this time being lead by one person. She could hear what they were calling her now, there were the usual insults like idiot and dummy, but they'd come up with a few more. She didn't want to have to hear them, she didn't want to see them, to feel their presence.

Another item hit the back of her neck, bouncing off the bruises that remained as she snapped her attention to them. Her gaze was like a cool burst, silencing the group before they burst into more laughter and one of the boys called out, "I bet she can't even name one of us!" She could feel her face reddening before she spun around, loose hair forming a whirlwind around her head as she began to march off. She could even feel a few drops of blood on her fingertips, having dug her nails deep enough into her skin to facilitate bleeding and yet being frustrated enough to forget about the pain. In reality it seemed all she could do was forget, and it wasn't like she could act like she was fine forever. For what felt like the first time she had found herself utterly alone.
