________lark tugged his legs up towards his chest, leaning his back into the base of the enormous tree. there were dozens of them in the forest, ranging in sizes big to small. the environment was very diverse, offering up every sort of animal or plant imaginable. it was made this way to suit the needs of all the inhabitants, as they had different pictures of what was desirable. for lark, he loved the trees. he enjoyed scaling them as a pastime, just as his mother used to teach him. although, she could fly. she had gigantic wings, and a massive set of horns to match. in order to make up for his flightless "disability," and to still show him the beauties of the world from a higher point of view, she helped him learn how to climb trees. ever since, he had grown a sort of obsession. the only con to doing this was how alone he felt, as there was never anybody around to share the experience with. he would look out at the waterfalls, the forestation, the passing animals... and not get to discuss its beauty with another individual. he probably would've liked to, but he couldn't. lark was supposed to be evil, and that was exactly what he was. evil people didn't have friends.
________today, he had found himself near the top of the rather large tree. he sat atop a thick branch, which easily supported his weight, surveying the expansive area before him. it was a peaceful morning, and the sun shone through the forest ceiling. few others were awake, but lark was. he didn't sleep much, he was too busy causing trouble, or being observant from afar. like today, as he curiously watched a mother deer tend to her young. she introduced the smaller mammal to the luscious grass below, indicating her child was to eat it. it complied without resistance, the two silently feasting together.
________lark's pointy ears perked up at the sound of distant footsteps. he was a fairy, so he gained that physical attribute from his mum. although, he had missed out on the wings. he did, however, have horns. they poked out from his head distinctly, identical to the ones his mother possessed.
________he maneuvered about in his position on the tree branch, cautious not to completely fall off the edge, finding himself peering downwards and towards where the sound had come from. someone was nearby, although they had yet to come into view so he could see them. the deer seemed undisturbed, having not noticed the new presence just yet.

Ω Chester Ω
________Chester emitted a happy sound as he walked through the forest, looking around at the large trees and the many animals which inhabited it. His parents, as well as his best friend Jazz, kept him from going into this forest too much because of the many evil creatures which lurked in it. Chester didn't mind. He just loved being surrounded by the animals which lived in this forest. He had the ability to talk to animals which his father taught him once a fairy turned him human. That was why Bambi was able to have an heir which was human even though he was an animal in his tale. He was an absolute animal and nature lover and always felt at home in a forest no matter how many times he had been in it. If he had been in it once or many times it felt the same. Chester was an innocent creature and that translated to his looks.
________Chester had bright brown eyes which often had an innocence in them that only a fawn could have. Brown shaggy hair which often had bits of forest in it which he had to pick out quickly so that nobody knew he snuck in as well as they had two fawn ears peering out of them. His horns had not begun to grow in yet this year but he knew they would not be too big. He was a buck but sometimes he looked like a doe. Next he had slightly tanned skin with freckles on his face. He had a lovely smile which was often described as contagious as well. Finally, he was dressed in a comfortable baggy sweatshirt and jeans with boots upon his feet. His tail twitched beneath where it was hidden under the sweatshirt.
________Chester soon came upon a deer family and that made him smile. He made soft calming sounds and approached the family. They tensed at first before realizing it was Chester and then they relaxed once more. He smiled and began to stroke the back of the doe as he watched her children eat with delight upon their faces. Ah the joys of first eating fresh grass took Chester back to his younger days. He did not notice the presence in the tree, watching him.

━━━━━━━━━ lark ;;
________lark remained completely silent as the boy who'd ensnared his attention came into view, innocently skipping along as if he hadn't a care in the world. admittedly, that aspect of the kid genuinely infuriated the fairy. all of the goodhearted children didn't appear to have any problems; that, or they were incredibly skilled at hiding them. it was just like in the stories they came from, where their parents would have to deal with troublesome times before getting their happy ending. now, their children got to bask in that happy ending. they got to frolic about, looking like complete and utter pansies as they spread their poisonous joy and agitating peacefulness. lark's mother was the number one most despised villain this forest had seen, so he'd never known "ease." his presence terrified the nations, as they all feared the worst from him. they would accuse him of only wishing to cause trouble, just how his mum had. that was only partially true, as he didn't always have the intent to cause trouble. sometimes he only wanted to sit back, relax, and observe others. that was why he tended to keep to the trees, so no one would even notice he was there. if they remained oblivious, then he could relax without the fear of being thrown into a dungeon.
________the boy was noticeably inhuman, having large ears and multiple other attributes only a hybrid could possess. he had to be a deer, and at that realization lark could tell who it was. bambi's boy. he didn't know the kid's name, but he still recognized his face. he only knew of one boy who'd previously inhabited the body of a deer, but had later been changed into a human version of himself. it had been done by a light fairy, one who brought good fortune and granted wishes. lark was the opposite, being a dark fairy. his mother represented bad luck and misfortune, and he had been told he represented malevolence. he wanted the accusation to be incorrect, but he couldn't disagree with what everybody thought of him.
________lark sat up a bit straighter, his chocolate brown gaze following the boy's path. he traveled over to the little deer family, conversing with them with ease. it made sense, considering bambi's kid had been a deer once himself. so, it was only logical that he'd be able to communicate with them still. but the happy-go-lucky attitude which gravitated in lark's direction caused him to wrinkle his nose in utmost disgust, wishing he could smite it out. ah, right... he could. still leaned up against the base of the massive tree, undetected beneath the trusty foliage, he twiddled his fingers about and recited a curse. it was only temporary, nothing he couldn't reverse. a thick strand of green, powdered discharge levitated through the air, aimed towards his fateful victims. it landed atop the bodies of the innocent deer family, ignoring bambi's son, being absorbed into their flesh like lotion. it took action instantly, causing them to freeze where they were. it took no time at all for stone to creep up from their hooves, all the way up to the tops of their heads. now, they were encased in a hefty layering of rock, transforming them into perfect little statues. excellent.

Ω Chester Ω
________Chester would have been described as one of the most innocent and naive creatures of this fairy tale world. He had not been exposed to much as he was sheltered all of his life. He had many friends though but all of them were good guys whom had a hatred or a fear of the villains. All his life he had been told that everything bad that happened, happened because of a villain. Part of the curriculum at the high school for the wonderful was telling their students about those who attended the high school for the wicked and to fear them. But they were also told that they would always get their happy fairytale ending if they stuck to their destiny. Chester did just that. He didn't stray too far...except for today.
________But Chester had a rare ability to see the good in almost anyone who had any sort of good in them. Even the evilest of villains had some good in them for some reason in their life. That was another reason why he was sheltered. He was still naive and would trust almost anyone whom he saw good in. Chester gave another giggle as he felt the tails of the fawns tickling his leg as he stood by them. He continued watching them graze until he watched a dust of green float through the air and land on the deer family. It completely ignored Chester though and that was how he knew someone was controlling the dust which landed on the animals. He watched them turn into statues and that slightly scared Chester but he knew someone could easily undo it. It was all just a matter of time of someone finding them.
________This made Chester realize he should be getting out of this forest and home. He soon bounded away from the statues and along the path out of the forest. When he exited the forest he saw one of his best friends Jazz and bounded up to him. His ears and tail twitched as he began to explain his adventure in a hushed but excited tone. A nearby forest fairy heard his tale and went into the forest, reversing Lark's spell. "Who do you think caused the deer to turn into statues?" Chester asked Jazz for his opinion. His nose twitched as he waited for an answer.

━━━━━━━━━ jazz ;;
________jazz was relaxing in the sun, pensively gazing up at the clouds. for once in his life, he wasn't communicating with anybody else. normally, he would have at least someone to talk to. however, this time, he was enjoying some alone time. he was lying on his back, his hands relaxing behind his head. he actually might've gotten a bit of sleep had it not been for chester, his very best friend, who scurried up to his side. he was automatically bombarded with a story, bambi's son hurriedly relaying the situation to him. jazz pushed himself into a sitting position, furrowing his eyebrows confusedly.
________"hang on... you're kidding, right? you went into that end of the forest? alone? chester!" the brunette clambered to his feet, now standing alongside his companion. the two had a relationship unlike most others, being as tight as legitimate siblings would be. chester was the brother jazz had never received, which easily called for a certain level of protectiveness between them. peter pan's boy constantly wanted to be the hero in the situation, especially when it involved chester and his never-ending amount of curiosity. seriously, the poor boy had to be one of the most intensely naive people jazz had ever met.
________"of course i know who put a curse on those innocent deer, don't you? this is what scares me the most. chester, stuff like that only ever happens when you're in the presence of a dark fairy. it had to be maleficent's son. that no good, rotten, trouble-making beast with horns. if you'd spotted him, he probably would've killed you." jazz shook his head bitterly, glaring at his friend for being so unbearably foolish. "you realize the kind of stuff he does around here could put him behind bars for eternity, right?" which, actually, was very true.
________the structure of the intertwining forests was completely built off of a lack in trust. there was a good side, and there was a bad side. the two tended to avoid one another, as it was inevitable that they'd not get along. and, the thing was, if you were a villain caught trespassing in the good side, you'd get placed in prison automatically. if you caused any trouble whatsoever, you'd be thrown into the dungeons without hesitation. it was a wonder how maleficent's son hadn't been imprisoned yet, but it was because he was such a sneaky fairy. it was rumored he'd been caught once, but had escaped with agitating ease. the palaces rarely discussed it, as they were too embarrassed to admit the dark fairy had outsmarted them.
________"what you encountered could've cost you your life. chester, next time, if you feel like you simply have to go down that road... bring me along. it's too risky on your own, especially in the reality we live in. those villains are absolutely no good, and nothing but trouble."

Ω Chester Ω
________Chester knew that his best friend, Jazz the son of Peter Pan, was not going to be happy when he relayed the information to him. Jazz was really protective of the son of Bambi, even more so than Bambi's own parents. He was the brother Jazz never had and Jazz was the protective "older" sibling that Chester never had. He kept this little fawn in line and helped to try and keep him out of trouble. Tried was the key word in this situation. Chester always seemed to be able to slip away off on his own adventures every now and again. Chester knew Jazz wasn't happy at his story but he just had to get the information out to someone.
________"Yes I went into that side end of the forest Jazz. Something was calling to me near there and I just had to go and investigate. I didn't want to bother you to force you along with me."Chester explained as he looked up at Jazz as he stood to his feet. It was true. Chester was a curious but courtious fellow and would not wake his friend up from his little snooze on the forest floor just for a silly little adventure to see some deer. "Besides, the space I was in was on our side of the forest line. I should have been safe there."He added as he looked up at his friend. Jazz was taller than little Chester and that often caused people to believe that Jazz was a big brother to Chester. Chester thought of him just as his best friend though.
________Chester listened to Jazz explain who could have done what had happened in the forest. "Jazzy, there are a lot of dark fairies in the forest. How could you know that it was the dastardly son of Maleficent who harmed those innocent deer?" Chester asked using the nickname he had developed for Jazz. "But that is the thing Jazz. He didn't spot me and I am still safe here so there is no need to worry. I know what he does could put him behind bars but the fact is he is not behind bars...yet." He concluded as he waited for a reply from his friend on the matter.
________When Jazz told him to ask him to come with him next time Chester nodded. He would even though he knew that if that evil dark fairy wanted too, he could easily eradicate them both in one twitch of his hand. "Next time, I will drag you along Jazzy. But on the bright side, the good fairy's have healed the deer by now I believe."Chester spoke with a happy smile and a twitch of his ears and tail. He pulled Jazz in for a hug and nuzzled his face into his chest. He was a cuddly creature and was often found sleeping in the crook of Jazz's neck as they were quite close.

━━━━━━━━━ jazz ;;
________jazz worriedly ran his fingers through his hair, pushing his hair aside as he listened intently to chester's explanations. it definitely didn't appear the deer was understanding the complexity of what he'd just witnessed, as he was still carelessly blabbering about how safe he should've been. but that was this society's reality. if you were a good guy, you needed to have your eyes peeled for the bad ones twenty-four-seven. they had a tendency to spring out only when they were unwanted, which made them all the more infuriating to encounter.
________"sure, yes, there are plenty of dark fairies to choose from. but there's only one who is constantly lingering about where he shouldn't be. the fact that you were deep on our side and still encountered a source of evil is proof enough that who you encountered is the prince of evil itself."
________peter pan's son couldn't stay angry at his friend forever, however. especially not when the boy called him "jazzy," the rather adorable nickname he'd gained sometime during their time as friends. he kept up the measly argument, but wasn't quite as stern about it anymore. jazz sighed in defeat, shrugging his shoulders. "the only reason he's not in prison yet is because he's impossible to catch. he's just... a dangerous individual. you've got to be more careful, i swear."
________chester hosting more concern for the well-being of the deer family said a lot about him as a person. although he could be a bit of a fool at times, he was still one of the nicest people jazz had ever had the pleasure of meeting. they were surrounded by dozens of happy-go-lucky fairy tale characters daily, but somehow chester managed to be the most sincere. "well... that's good. at least it wasn't permanent. whoever cast that curse, who i still wholeheartedly believe was maleficent's son, didn't just kill the poor animals. the villains crossing into our borders infuriates me... all they do is put innocent beings in danger with their determination to cause anything living harm. it simply isn't fair that we must live in fear with them around. i hope they catch that sorry fairy and give him a taste of his own medicine,' jazz huffed, before being silenced by chester abruptly tugging him into a hug. the brunette couldn't resist such a tender gesture, deciding to embrace the smaller boy back. he scratched the area behind one of chester's ears, his fingers smoothing over the stiff fur.
________"i must admit, showing that demonic fairy who's boss sounds like it could be pretty enjoyable." jazz was always that way, wishing to be the hero in the situation. he wanted to catch maleficent's son, or whoever it had been to turn those deer to stone, and bring him in. as a matter of fact, that seemed like just the thing he now intended to do. it would be fun, mischievous, dangerous little adventure. "hey... i have an idea. why don't we do that now, huh? you and me? look for the fairy who caused us trouble here? we could chase them off!"

Ω Chester Ω
________Chester could see the worried look on Jazz's face as he recounted his tale to him and that made him feel guilty for not taking him along. He hated making anyone worry about him as he felt like some times he was not worth worrying over. He was not a major fairy tale character so if he disappeared he thought he wouldn't really be missed, but now it seems like someone would miss him if he disappeared.
________"That makes sense. The other dark fairies usually linger on their side of the forest and do not have the time nor the energy, or really even the motivation, to wander near to where I was and cause trouble. It must have been the son of Maleficent." Chester concluded as he sat there with the son of Peter Pan. He knew he was beginning to make Jazz unable to be mad at him with the use of the nickname he had dubbed him with when they were young creatures. "I am completely sure that they will be able to catch that boy eventually. All he has to do is make one more false step into our side and the police of justice will be on him faster than the three little piglets on a plate of cookies..." Chester spoke with a giggle as he looked up at Jazz. He adored that his friend was taller than him, it made him feel safe."I will try to be more safe, don't worry Jazzy..."
________Often Chester would worry more about others than himself. It was just a trait that he naturally had in him. Even when he was faced with danger he would worry about the creatures around him rather than himself. He once got in a tussle with the woodman's son and came out of it with the notch in his ear which was permanent. But did he worry about his own safety when he was staring down the barrel of the gun with a twitching nose as the woodsman tried to get his antler. He did not. He only worried about the rabbit burrow they were close to during the fight. It was just his nature to worry about others.
________"Yeah, I am just glad that it didn't kill the poor creatures. It was a mother deer and her two fawns. As well I am sure their herd, or at least their buck, was close as well and they could have been injured too if they crept any closer to where we were. I know it is not fair that we have to live in fear of them as they get to waltz their way around but it is just the way it is." Chester spoke as he looked at him, still hugging him. His tail flicked faster and his nose twitched happily as he felt Jazz scratching behind one of his ears. His leg twitched slightly as well. It was a reaction which came from his animal side which was still present in him even though he was a humanoid animal at the moment.
________"It would be nice for the prince of evil to get what he deserved but don't you think that our parents would not be happy if we just waltzed into the face of evil trying to chase him away. We could easily be killed as he has dark magic and we only have your pixie dust and my abilities to communicate with forest creatures. We are not powerful enough to do anything." Chester told his friend as he spoke of what he thought would be a fun and mischevious little adventure but Chester only saw it as a dangerous mission. He knew Jazz wanted t be a hero in the situation just like all the other fairy tale heroes but he knew that they would not be able to do it.

━━━━━━━━━ jazz ;;
________jazz's face contorted into that of disgust, wrinkling his nose bitterly. chester informing him that the animals who were attacked had been a deer family only managed to infuriate him all the more. the dark fairy who'd done this was, undoubtedly, a merciless individual. peter pan's son jumped to conclusions about people rather often, not bothering to learn much about them asides from their outer label. if you were considered "bad," that was the end of the discussion. he wouldn't tolerate your existence, nor would he even try. but if you were labelled as "good," then he was more than willing to get to know you and gradually become your friend. it was oddly in his nature, likely having come from his father's teachings. peter pan was such a naturally boyish parental figure, having taught jazz everything he knew about the separated societies. now, the brunette seemed to have this natural desire to dislike any and all villainous creatures.
________"i know it's the way it is, but that doesn't make it any fairer..." the boy grumbled sorrowfully, still giving chester loving scratches behind his ear. he'd learned his friend appreciated little things like this when they first met, and he supposed it was pretty obvious why. chester was still a natural-born animal in a human's body, so he hadn't lost all of his previous habits. simple things like affectionately patting him made him incredibly happy, so jazz was more than willing to do it for him.
________the brunette glared at the ground sternly, hesitating before gradually tugging himself away from chester's arms. he now stood before the boy, an annoyed expression on his tanned face. although, the frustration wasn't aimed at his friend at all. it was more for his helplessness in their current situation, and being forced to face how utterly powerless he was in comparison to a dark fairy. not only did they have their intimidating appearances, but their powers were beyond anything jazz had ever experienced. thus far, in his livelihood, he'd never actually fought one. it was becoming an increasingly risky task as the fairies grew more and more courageous, finding it far easier to get away with their mischief. it was ridiculous!
________"look... i know we're not the strongest guys for the job... but that doesn't mean we won't be able to help! we don't have to fight the fairy, maybe just threaten it? anything. i just don't think i'll be able to stand myself if i stand around and allow these ghastly beasts to continue doing things like that. it's immoral, and i won't stand for it. so... you're either with me, or you're not on this." jazz lightly nudged chester, tilting his head innocently. "come on. we're friends, right? and friends always have each others backs!"
________he'd by lying if he said he wasn't attempting to guilt trip chester into the situation, but he couldn't help himself. the young deer was easily accessible, had been a witness to the dark fairy's doing, and overall was willing to do anything to help another out. and they were friends, after all. it wouldn't hurt anybody to request companionship in a mission like this. "also, forget parents!" he said excitedly, hoisting his forefinger into the air beside his head. "this can be our chance to show them how well we can handle ourselves, don't you think? the risk will be the fun part!"
