He looks down and sulks away.

Autumn looks at the new dog for a minute, then at Shade. "We can be friends, but I've gotta go," she replies. She turns away and heads towards Shade, her fur blowing behind her. "Are you okay?" she whimpers.

He bounces off

"No, I'm..I'm fine. I just, I have a small amount of PTSD...... My best friend was a Westie and, her owner threw a ball, into the road, and, and, and" He burst into tears (Well dog tears)
