So, I've been playing around with the idea of changing how gradient works when breeding, specifically when breeding a Dralon that has gradient with one without.

As it is, gradient is really dominant. A pup can come out one of four ways.
1. The colour of the non-gradient parent (non-gradient pup result)
2. The colour of the gradient parent (gradient pup result)
3. The colour of the gradient parent but with the first colour replaced with the colour of the non gradient parent (gradient pup result)
4. The colour of the gradient parent but with the second colour replaced with the colour of the non gradient parent (gradient pup result)

I made some super simple Cattails that don't have any markings to demonstrate.

Let's say these are the parents.



Currently, this is how their cubs can look (follows the order I posted)



I want to add in that a cub can also be a solid colour of one of the colours on the gradient parent. In this case, that would add these two cubs to the possibilities.



5. The first colour of the gradient parent (non-gradient pup result)
6. The second colour of the gradient parent (non-gradient pup result)

It would make more possibilities when breeding and even out the possibility of gradient or non gradient.

I don't know. Gradient isn't even really all that popular, but it's something that's been bothering me. Figured I'd run it by everyone first before I change the way cubs can look from it.

So.... still looking for opinions on the gradient breeding change. but I have something for you that is quite possibly the most exciting thing I've ever released for the Dralons XD

Mode Shifted markings.

I made this using only two markings.



Here's the classic all the Tiger Bands in rainbow that I use for every demonstration, but with a mode shifted Zebra on top.



And this... I don't even know, I forgot what I used for most of it XDD



Mode shifting can produce absolutely stunning things, or absolutely eye blinding insanities, and it's nearly impossible to tell what's going to happen XD Sometimes changing the mode doesn't make much of a difference at all, then I change the colour of the marking and suddenly crazy things happen. It's very unpredictable XD

Because of how unpredictable it is, you can't order customs with it. You'd never get what you wanted. Believe me, I played with it for most of today and nearly everything I did surprised me XD

I am, however, making it available through Horsetails. There's a small chance that any Horsetail from now on could end up with a mode shifted marking, which can then be bred onto all the other types ^.^

I do stress how unpredictable the outcomes of it are, though, and you should likely only breed with mode shifted markings if you're willing to be completely surprised by what the cubs turn out like XD

Mode shifted markings are more effective if they're large markings, and if they're placed on top of other large markings.

There are 13 different modes, and each one changes how the Dralon looks, although what they do each time is a mystery for me as that seems to change depending on the colour of the marking and what the markings below it look like.

You will know you have a Dralon with a mode shifted marking if after the colon in the stats are brackets and a word in it. An example of a Horsetail's stats that have mode shifted markings would be something like this.

Dralons can have more than one marking mode shifted, like so

There are no restrictions on mode shifted markings the way there is gradient.

If you want to know anything else about mode shifted markings, just ask here, although if you ask me how it works, I honestly have no idea XD There's just a drop down menu in the program I use that says mode and I can change that, that's about the extent of my understanding of it XD
