before we get started this is a rewrite of an old 'dear ___' piece I made a few years ago which used to go by the name of Dear Shattered Clock. more info below but I hope you enjoy!

As you walked through rubble and ruins, something piqued your interest. Aside from the un-invited, now overgrown plants that invaded the torn down buildings you stumbled upon...there lies a well-kept fireplace.

Not at it's finest state but it is much more intact than the other furniture despite its chipped off paint, rust, and ash.
Though that's not what you're interested in are you?

It's the strange little clock that rests on top of it.
Dusty, rusted, cracked, old, the pristine white clock adorned with delicate carvings and rusted gold accents. it seems like it wasn't in use for decades, now.

But...something draws you to it, beckons you over with tempting energy- no...magic pull.

You couldn't help yourself but give in to this pull, as you leaned in and finally your hand reached contact with the broken trinket and you picked it up to examine it closely-

Only for it- with a sound of a click- to start aggressively shaking, ticking and the clock's hands were rapidly spinning- which obviously startled you as you dropped the clock causing it to choke up and stop.

You decided to just stand there and take a breather from such a startling event but you didn't notice on how everything us slowly fading to black, whilst you hear muffled hushed voices.

It..it still works... after all this time..father truly is a talented man.
It is quite a surprise to find..this..you? Lying around here and not into pieces unlike our other trinkets, which is also such a relief! After 2 years into the aftermath of this chaotic war... we lost too much, my siblings and I.

Everything turned into a barren wasteland of grief.

Though I have a feeling our parents are watching all four of us from above, proud of how we survived on our own. It..was and still is a scary place-
Years and years of scavenging, looking for signs of hope and such.
guess we found it... a little reminder of our days before, with the creation of my father's
I guess its time we make use of you and catch you up on our lives, little memory clock.

A few weeks ago after having an encounter with some nice folks at some passing by town me and my siblings were invited to go to a little camp that would hone our abilities. Sketchy at first, in the end, it was one of our safer options since we are aid with protection and surrounded by people our age.

the 'camp'/academy went with the name of Lux contritus or by it's full lengthy name "Light of the shattered roses"

a strange name indeed... I (and one of my brothers) are honestly curious about its origins.
anyways we are currently on our way to this academy, we're currently taking a break and set up camp for the night before we reach the destination tomorrow.

well that's enough of explaining, it's about time to introduce ourselves

Well..I'm Marielle or what my siblings like to call me, Mari. There's really not much for me to say other than I am the youngest out of this rowdy bunch, I normally aid my siblings with my ability to use healing and status ailment magic and also light magic (which isn't much of use as of lately). Innocent as you may call me, I've been told I can pull a couple of nasty punches.
Well, It's time to pass the baton to my siblings.

Oh- well...this is awkward, just me
and er- this clock in the middle of nowhere-
ahem. I guess Mari had all the important things covered in our 'report' and it's just introductions left. I am known as Laurence, or bookworm please do NOT call me that or I will and CAN summon the dark forces against you- or well try to. though I prefer to be called Loren or...Forti forbids, Lor-Lor compared to something as dumb as bookworm or nerd
Aside from that, I am the second youngest out of my siblings only because I'm the younger twin compared to Jess who is about I don't know 4 minutes older? Besides that, I specialized with enchantments, mainly telekinesis and currently trying to study summoning. Though it is quite difficult to pick up another type of magic like enchantments and other book-based compared to the one you're born with. In the long run, it is worth it.

erm...It's about time I pass this over to Je-AAAACK

[incoherent mumbling, with rustling of leaves in the background indicating someone walking away]
Well as you may have recorded, I am Jessica or Jess. I may be a little ecstatic and hyper from occasion, just well a teensy bit everywhere, just couldn't help it!
I have a tendency to space out and just dwell on an idea I would have, from weapons I wish I could craft to little trinkets like what father has created before, like you!
Aaanyways from what I heard of this Academy they train you through your magic capabilities, and or your 'field' type. Like if you're some healer, mage, hunter, warrior, just like classes from those fantasy games I would see when I was a child.
Speaking of which as I heard my baby siblings mumbling about their magics (oh! I'm the 2nd oldest! perks of being the eldest twin!) I am what you call an electrokinesis user. I can manipulate electricity y'know like all that physics you used to learn. I don't have a secondary type unlike my siblings but I do have some endurance and can pretty much mess with whatever technology is left out there. Oh and I can do pretty good when wielding a sword, there's this one I always use, It's my own design! (father helped me craft it).

I'm sorry I need a minute, I just... miss them so much. Seeing his design with carvings from my mother brings a tear from my eyes.
heh sorry for getting a bit too emotional abit there.
I'm Max, the oldest out of my siblings, I normally do the hard work for my siblings because I'm afraid of losing them too.
I know they're capable of taking care of themselves but I can't help it.
and to be frank we like to stay together, we're all afraid of losing each other, plus we're stronger together than alone.
I normally hunt for the group and scavenge food, but they do chime in if they want.

I've been told, at that academy place was to be hidden in a forest, which isn't new to us. We've been venturing through forests for days and days before.
It's just we've been told it is protected by a forcefield and the location isn't easy to be detected by rouges, criminals, cultists or 'hoods', which seems like a safer option than running around aimlessly.
It's...just a temporary placement I guess.

Asides from all that mumbo jumbo and me being a worry-wart I have the ability to manipulate the earth, as in the ground, rocks, and anything similar to the sorts. Though with the help of Laur I'm trying to expand to plant magic too since their elements are similar.

hm, that should be all it is getting late, Mari, Laur and Jess have already settled down for the night, until tomorrow where our adventure continues.

Me and my siblings decided to take turns for our report and I would be the one starting... well you can say today was quite eventful.
So to summarise we did arrive safely... you'll see.

hello clock, This is Mari again.
As of now we're currently packing up and leaving the site to continue our trek to Shattered rose(?) Academy, or for short we started calling it Lux.
[muffled shuffles, voices and other mundane noises could be heard in the back]
currently Loren and Jess are taking down our tents and gathering our items, while Max is off to grab us some food for the da-

"Hey, Mari! Mind helping us by putting out the fire real quick!?"
"o-oh! Yes okay! give me a quick second!"
[you can feel the clock shake as it was seemingly being placed down onto the surface with a soft thud.
For a good while all you could hear were hushed by pleasent conversations exchanged by Laur, Mari & Jess accompanied of the hissing of fire being put out. Seemingly peaceful that is until.]
SoMEONE QUICK- GRAB THAT CHICKEN!

[A quiet chuckle before someone else followed max and this so called chicken, stifflng a laugh]
pfft haha!- okayokay Im on it!
oh Forti- that chickens fast! I bet im faster
well i can't doubt you, sis. You CAN boost yourself with your magic
look at those poor boys struggling, watch me catch it in 5 seconds flat
hahaha! Really? Well id like to see that
[another rustle of leaves but this left as fast as it came, the sound was quite staticy for a moment only for it to be restored to hearty laughter]
"so...who caught it"

"pffft, ahahaha! So all of you caught it?

[a yelp was heard from Jess after Laur playfully elbowed her, which resulted for the siblings to burst laughing
"aha..that felt good. Though we should head out now, we have a new era ahead of us and as always were doing it together"
We nodded our heads agreeing with our older brother's words as we started to head North-East into the forest with some of our laughter remaining.
Ofcourse we had to cook the chicken for our meal along the way but thats aside the point.

Eventually after hitting a cryptic foggy area filled with old leaf-less trees with giant roots we were met with iron gates, seemingly abandonned with two statues Upon it

In reality those were actually guards!
And this gate?
none other then the gate to the academy.

We have arrived.

Well erm- hello clock this is Loren speaking. Little Mari fell asleep earlier and didn't finish her report so i decided to bud in, ykno?

Well i think she left off when we reached the gate.
Though I'm quite intruiged on how they manage to disguise the gates as trees, and when you get closer an abandonned gate adorned with old statues- which were actual guards mind you.

Okay okay enough of my quote on quote nerdy ramblings, time to finish that report.

a short period of silence fell upon the situation, as crackles of moving rock suddenly turned into moving of amor, the siblings gasped in surprise

oh! Er- yes, heres the four of us
then there were rustling of papers, and rustling of the iron gate infront of them, a loud screech of metal roared as the gate opened letting the siblings inside the academy

inside the iron and quartz gates lead well a large clearing, with buildings, a small forest to train in, and a lake. The place was alot more bigger then we imagined!
And in the center of it all, an old castle looking of a mansion, which we guessed was the main academy building which also held our dorms, indoor classroom and cafeteria.

Though i heard that our 'warm up' classes are starting but not, persay our 'main one'.
We're just honing our basic skills. I also heard there would be a task we must do to be sorted throigh our classes properly.
(Guess they really do want to see the best we could do)

Well anyways aside from the nerdy stuff id be geeking over (you have no idea how much i look forward to the magic-base classes) theres also the people.

We met a few so far and well...
my sisters and I think big brother max found a match 👀

oi Laur? You okay there? Youve been starin around all sparkly-eyed lately
one, thats an understatement, two. How can you not figure it out! Were surrounded by people who actually know what they're doing. Have you seen what they did back at that gate!? Hat level of magic!i also cant wait to see such strategies they conjure up in batt-
yeah yeah you and your nerd sthick at it again. If anything I think the equipment they bring to battle is much of important since it actually aids them.

soft murmurs of the younger siblings agreeing to max's words, soft footsteps as they entered the room settling down putting dowm their belongings and eventually crashing onto the bed

the siblings errupted in a fit of giggles as they settled down with a fit of rustling bed covers and soft snores and mumbles. Sounds of someone organising the place as they added their belongings onto the dorms.
After a while of relaxing the silence was then interupted by knocking
max...are you there?
hold on! I'll get the door!
a click of a door opening echoed, and in the background you could here very quiet grumbling from an awaken Jess
oh! Hey Meadow, whatre you doing here?
oh-um....ijust.i just wanna know if you...wannahangoutatthebonfire and- walk around the garden in the courtyard?
huh? Yeah ofcourse! Just give me a second!
oh wait really? Okay!
well guess I'm off, you three better behave while im gone!

so what is it just me or did max just get a date.
"were just friends" my tail. she totally has a crush on him
okay but we should honestly join them since the bonfire's up now.

Well while we made our way down, outside my sister Mari looked like she made a friend there was this fella who was wearing a unicorn sweater. There was a look of sympathy in her eyes, and she described them as sorrowful looking and hope they talk more so the other cheers up.

But between you and me clock, i swear i heard that sweater talk
I swear im not going crazy!

I... may need to ask that guy about it, wait whats their name again? I think it was Magz.

Okay so back to the bonfire, the marshmellows! Woah arent they delicious! My siblings and I hadnt had them in ages! It was a nice...throwback.

All i could conclude is that Max and meadow were talking about uh nature i think?

Me and jess were, as you can guess bantering it off, with Mari talking to Magz about Forti knows what

not this again, i am not letting you purposely light my marshmellow on fire a g a i n!
oh cmon! It was an accident Lor Lor! Plus that was a few months ago!

The speaker rang as the other students around the bonfire awed in dissapointment for having their fun ended soon.

We quickly head back to our dorms and looked at eachother

Mary pointed outside the window as we ll got up and looked, and honestly all of our faces (except mari who werw bursting out laughing) visibly paled like a ghost reminding us of the events of this morning.

Ofcourse it was a stampede of chickens.

Anyways as you can tell through the recording its really i mean really rainy outdoors today. Though it's perfect for magic users in my 'catagory', Max's and that Landon guy...he is a water magic user I'm pretty sure.

Well, I'm absolutely making a terrible idea of reporting whilst my head still hurts, as if someone had dropped all of Laur-Laur's book on me. Speaking of which I was suppose to snatch his turn but he somehow ended up replying anyways after Mari passed out. She must be that tired, huh?

Oh! And for the headache- apparently I was out cold...and it was because of this Illusion Monster?

both younger siblings chuckled nervously as Jess sighs

before i continue the Academy given raincoats are actually pretty comfy, they weren't stuffy neither. Plus mine was specifically created so my Electric powers won't go wild in the rain.

Besides that where was I... oh yeah! I was on my way to check on Max! not stalk him >:( Eventually I found them by the edge of the forest near the lake within the forcefield's borders. Though not only Max was there, Meadow and Landon (the guy that talked to us in the bonfire). And being as sneaky as possible i hid near some trees and bushes trying to pick up what they're saying. The rain wasn't helping much either.

[Muffled]oh you gotta be kidding me rain..where did that noise even come from?

[the strange static-noise has finalky gone out and the noise of rain hitting a dull surface as Meadow grew out a large dark lucious green leaves from the soil which slowly grew into a large flower sporting bright colours of Orange with the petals that were blue on the bottom, red on the tips and donned with yellow speckles..]
[muffled] woah are those heart-shaped petals?? How romantic [snickering]
That's lovely Meadow! Such an exotic flower would be found in the southern enchanted forests.
Howbavout you show us what you can do Landon after what I suggested for you to do. Remember to stable yourself and steady.
...okay! Stable. And Steady. Stableandsteady
[muffled footsteps as Landon walks near the edge of the lake taking one big deep breath and stretching his arms out towards the water his back facing everyone else. A loud splash was heard as a formless blob sprung out of the water, it looked as if it was falling apart but instead it took shape of a dragon that dove in and out of the lake before breaking mid jump, landon falls on his knees in exhaustion]
That was amazing Landon! A little bit wobbly at the beginning overall its good! Max, you're next! Give it youre all, remember patience is key at certain times

the sound of someone taking off their coat was heard as Max took off hus fur cloak and removed his shoes
gross... just...yikes..
The ground shook as Max stomped on the muddied soil, he crouched down into a ready position as a chunk of soil shot up from the ground and he immediately kicked it towards one of the trees, and he repeated this process 4 more times. Each time to a different tree and each time a sudden chunk of rock shot up from the ground and the ball of mud hits it before it hits the tree. Through you hear a sudden yelp as Max missed kickimg the 5th Mudball due to the sudden rush of adrenaline causing him to slip backwards missing the ball and the 4th soil chunk hits the trunk of a tree due to the shark of rock coming up too late
ugh...my backside hurts
Max are you okay!?
yeah! That looks like that hurts-
I'm good I'm good! Dont worry! So how was I, Teach?
well aside from the slip up at the end you did pretty good remaining focused and your timing was precise! Though from that Id say its break time for you three, you all did great. Now Max do you mind calling Jessica over form your room, and Meadow can you call over •■°○●`<\>•□°○•¿? An• Land•~●•N +=!#%&!
ugh not agai...n...

Once the teacher mentioned me I immidately got up from my spot to go to them right? But that noise...that noise came back! But thats not all, this time it wouldn't stop and my head started to hurt really badly I couldnt work that far but apparently my sudden collapse from walking out from that bush was noticable enough.

Don't tell my siblings but they're right about the Illusion monster existing...apparently it snuck up behind me, but it was only a minor attack I wasnt full on hallucinating.

And call me nuts all you want but I swore it spoke to me through the deafening static and I'm pretty sure its something important...
