Shot Two
- Characters: Holly and Regia
''We could be heroes.''
Never before had Holly heard such tempting words, trickling softly from the vulpine's maw. Dark eyes gleamed hungrily and she grinned at the speaker, approaching the speaker eagerly. ''Heroes?'' Holly echoed. ''How?'' She inquired, cocking her head inquisitively. The fox was ready with a response, curling their brush around their paws and staring at the ambitious hound. Holly was blinded by her quest for power and had already too lately woven herself into Regia's trap, absolutely enamored by herself.
''We must unite the packs.'' Regia replied, pale eyes twinkling like stars. ''For too long, we've fought.'' The fox frowned, looking ponderous. The albino fox wanted nothing more than to bring peace to the world, to cease bloodshed and end all suffering forever. ''We could be heroes, Holly.'' Regia smiled softly, pelt shimming like freshly laid snow. ''Doesn't that sound good?''
Eagerly the dog nodded, eyes glazed softly with the prospect of power so near; Holly yearned for nothing but absolute control, to have the entire city in the palm of her paws. Although peace was not on her agenda, Holly knew that unity meant that someone had control over the rest and the black dog was naturally expecting it to be herself. ''Oh yes, Regia, you always know how to say such good things.'' That much was true, Regia was very good at manipulating others and tugging them gingerly onto the path she willed them to stray.
''Well, then.'' Regia murmured. ''Shall we get started then?'' The fox knew the value of time and didn't want to waste it dithering in a dirty little alley where rubbish cloyed the very air and turned what little water there was stagnant. ''Don't want to waste time do we?'' the albino chirruped, getting up on small paws and without warning, trotting off into the heart of the bustling city.
Streetlights flickered overhead and illuminated the two pairs of eyes; dim in the gathering dark. Holly knew the way by heart, paws treading where many paws had etched a path hundreds of years ago, when trees sprung where concrete now lay. Graffiti sprawled all over red-brick, cars roared along puddle-spotted roads and the alleys seemed to spring from the darkness, yawning away into danger and mystery. ''Holly...'' Regia started, only to be interrupted by a loud snap of Holly's jaws. White fur bristling indignantly, Regia fell silent.
''We're here.'' Holly informed, unaware of the fox's anger at being so rudely silenced. Among the garbage and dirt lay her pack, uncomfortable but still dreaming; unaware of Holly's looming ambition and the ghostly fox at her side. ''Come on, Regia.'' Holly ushered the fox forward, padding among her sleeping brethren. ''I'm coming.'' Regia sighed, trotting at her side. The albino fox was not liking Holly's new turn of control over her and swore that before she guided Holly onto her path of stardom, Regia would show the hound who was boss.
The two settled in a quiet dingy corner, ready to talk plans. ''So, when do we strike?'' Holly murmured, ears pricked for the vulpine to once again utter her words of wisdom. The two had decided to go for Tiger's and Alpha's groups first, seeing as they had the biggest and most prominent groups in all the city; both knew the risks and both knew the rewards that would be reaped after the hard slog. ''We strike in a few months.'' Regia replied.
''A few months!?''
Regia regarded Holly's shock with a gentle frown. ''Why yes, we need to prepare for a fight.'' A snow-white tail curled around snow-white paws. ''Do you think we can just rush into their territories with fangs bared and just win?'' Regia explained, imaging such a foolish thing taking place; they would not last five minutes on the bloodied streets like that. ''Holly, I thought you were cleverer than that.''
The black dog glared ferociously at the fox, snarling. ''I'm clever enough, thank you very much.''
''Could've surprised me.'' Regia grumbled under her breath, silently enough for the hostile hound not to catch it. ''But we've got to wait a few months; then we'll be heroes.''
''Very well.'' Holly smirked. ''A few months, then we're heroes.''
