Hello, my dears, I'm glad to see you have come back! It's good to know I have some reader(s) that find my tale interesting. But do you believe me? Do you think it's true, or that I'm truly insane? Questions for another time.
I ran and ran, my body aching and in pain while feeling free and wild at the same time. I must have been pretty far a head of the cops cause soon the sirens drowned out into the back ground and I out ran them.... Those cops must have had their sirens on really loud... I looked back.. Wait... Was there even cops?
I couldn't see anything behind me but I continued to run anyway. Not the time to take chances. As I ran and ran, a familiar brown wolf came up beside me. I recognized her right away, though I didn't know her name. She jerked her head in one direction and I instantly turned to follow her.
Timber, as I would soon come to learn was her name, led me into the forest, taking me down tricky paths and rocky rivers... But it was worth it... We stopped in an open field, but it was surrounded in trees like we were in the eye of the forest, the very heart of it.
I was panting as I put my hands on my knees and bent over, feeling woozy from lack of air and over working myself. I glanced up at the wolf as she turned into a girl... The looks she had was rather smooth skin, her hair the some brindle coloring as her fur, and her eyes the color of burning wood.
"My name is Timber, Omega of the pack.." Her voice was quiet, meek, but it had an edge to it... like she was proud of what she was, no matter how low her ranking... I liked her...
I straightened myself up, after I stopped huffing for air, and said, "My name is Jane... I've seen you before... You say you are part of 'the pack' but what does your pack call yourself?" I was curious. No one had ever mentioned what they are called.
Timber looked around, suddenly seeming to be anxious. Her whole posture crumpled a bit, shoulders rolling forward and back bending forward a bit as her head lowered and her knees bent to make her seem smaller. She looked around nervously as she wrapped her arms around her waist... Something was wrong.
"Oh... I'm going to get in so much trouble for helping you, even being around you is going to get me in big trouble with Mirage..." Her voice began to shake and she seemed anxious to run and leave me there alone. I reached out and gently grabbed her shoulder.
"Please don't leave me here, everything will be fine... Why would you get in trouble? Why hasn't Mirage come for me already?" I asked, staring at her. She squirmed at first before she took in a slow breath and decided she might as well answer.
"You are an enemy of the Sanguine Lupus*, Mirage thinks you died from the gun shot, and I helped you!" She said, seeming suddenly angry with me and herself. She yanked from me and struck me hard across the face, sending me stumbling back with claw marks across my cheek. "Because of your act to save your parents, half of the pack was killed! We can't just repopulate, the males are brutal and cruel! It will take years for our numbers to come back to normal, and so many innocent girls will be forced to bare children! The OMEGA's! ME! The males don't care what the females want, which is why we stay separate! They act like animals! They'll kill their own young if it doesn't look enough like them, and they'll steal the young if they are male!" She snarled.
I stared in astonishment. I was speechless, I didn't know this would happen. I didn't... I couldn't say anything. I held my bleeding cheek while Timber glared at him with those venomous, dark brown eyes.
"We can only send some of the girls and there is no guarantee they will come back! Do you know how many of us die in child birth?! It's dangerous for us to reproduce! Even more so to give birth!" Timber growled again, seeming angered beyond belief.
"I-" I couldn't say anything. I turned my head away, eyes locked on the lower portion of the woods. "I'm so sorry... I didn't know this would happen. Mirage never told me.." I muttered, unable to bring myself to say anything else... To tell her to blame Mirage.
Timber glared at me, seeming angry but her gaze softened slightly. Her anger must have slipped away because she fell to her knees and collapsed into a mess of sobs. Her shoulders trembled and she shook like a leaf in front of me.
"Timber... why don't you come with me? You won't have to deal with that stuff every again... I can help you... You will never have to deal with those males again, you can find a real boy and fall in love the way everyone should be able too," I said as I watched her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
Timber looked up at me and said, "Really?" She seemed unsure and suspicious. She looked around to make sure no one was around before nodding and standing, her legs shaking slightly. She turned into a wolf and shook her pelt and made a motion to follow her. Unsure what else I could do, and worried someone would come and find me, I followed.
We walked a long time and then until it got dark until we reached a small hut. She turned into her human form and opened the door easily, though it seemed to have been locked... She walked in and sniffed the air before flopping down on the couch. "The owner isn't here," she said, her voice sounding like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
I nodded and began to look around, walking to the kitchen to find something to eat. I looked around to find some canned goods. I looked at them and was kind of disgusted to find most were okra in a can. I never liked okra.
I eventually looked at Timber to find her sleeping, twitching lightly in her sleep like she was a dog. I smiled, it was adorable. I walked over and reached my hand down and began to stroke her hair gently. She stiffened then to nuzzle into my hand while she was sleeping. If she had a tail it would be wagging.
I felt my own exhaustion slowly take hold of me and I walked around and finally found a musty old bedroom. It was dusty and unused in ages. I walked over and patted the bed, to find dust flying up in every direction. I coughed and waved my hand to scatter the dust. I slowly laid down on the bed and closed my eyes to rest happily.
I drifted in and out of sleep as I lay on the bed, trying not to let my guard down but to also get the rest I needed. It was a tricky balance. I somehow got it to work though. But this balance didn't last long as I slowly began to wake up, hearing the soft thundering of heavy paw steps and soft growls.
I stood and walked to the door of the bedroom, cracking it open just a centimeter and taking a slight peek out. My eyes slowly adjusted to the light in the cabin as I heard a soft pained whimper.
A large body of black brushed against the door, the growl and snarl coming from its throat made me realize it was Mirage. I frowned and feebly slunk back until I heard a soft howl of pain and realized that the sound was coming from Timber. I felt a familiar ache in my chest as I hid in the back..
I knew there was little I could do, and what I did next would haunt me for the rest of my life: I turned and jumped out the window, leaving Timber to have who knows what happen to her. To this day, I do not know if she is dead or alive, or if she had to go through the horrible mating process that she described earlier.
I sighed as I ran away, guilt welling up in my chest as I thought about it. I continued to run till I felt my legs weaken and betray me. I felt my legs collapse beneath me and I hid the ground, a soft groan of exhaustion slipping past my lips as I buried my face in the grass, breathing heavy as I coughed at the dirt going into my lungs.
I felt a pair of hands grasp my shoulders gently as they pulled me to my knees. I looked up, groggy, only to find a mess of black hair and slightly pale skin.. I couldn't make out the eyes. I slowly passed out, exhaustion and hunger taking over me and causing me to pass out.

Day 14,
As I woke up, I realized just where I was...
I jumped up and moved away from the bed, slamming into someone I knew very well. I jumped away from them and tried to move away as they came out of the shadows and gently grabbed my arms, holding my still and trying to make sure I didn't pass out.
My breathing was quick as I could only make out the name "Jason."
I could see him smile when he realized I recognized him, and I got a little of a flashback to that kiss we had in his house, right before I was shot down by someone unknown. I still wanted to know who I shot me, maybe he knew? I stare at him a moment longer before I finally am pulled form my shock and I blinked slowly.
He turned on the lights and pulled down his mouth mask, exposing a large scar running from his cheek bone to his jaw bone. I gasp slightly, feeling guilty, "Oh my, what happened?" I asked, wondering if the attack on his home had caused it or if something else had, though I knew it was foolish to think something else had caused it.
He gave a wistful smile and said, "Um... One of your little werewolf friends attacked me... It was after your family got out so, no worries there." He said, smiling as he slowly, almost slow enough that I didn't notice, wrapped his arms around him waist. He seemed to be absolutely ecstatic to see me and it made me feel guilty.
I smiled a bit, unable to resist wrapping my arms around his neck. He stood less then a foot taller then me but not my height, maybe five inches taller? I smiled a little more as I felt the warm softness of his t-shirt touch my arms and his arms in a firm, yet easy, hold around my waist. It had been a while since I felt this comfortable.
I relaxed as I felt his forehead go against mine, feeling is warm breath along my skin was relaxing. His breath wasn't stinking because he was breathing through his nose, and even then I could smell he faint sent of mint from his toothpaste.
It was quite a change, I had never even thought of anything more of him then a brother less then three days ago... Now, my head was swimming, my heart was fluttering, my stomach was twisting into knots while my knees were close to failing me. I shivered a bit when he pulled me in so we were completely against each other.
His lips pressed to mine and a sudden wave of static and shock ran over me. I stared at him wide eyed for a minute before sinking into the kiss and closing my eyes. The kiss was sweet and innocent at first, until he pressed in more.
I felt something warm and soft begin to trace my lower lip as I tried to figure out what it was... I soon realized what was going on and my eyes opened a bit, my mouth also opening in a gasp and accidentally letting him think that this was okay. His warm tongue slid past my lips and to greet mine, which was rather startling.
I soon blushed as I realized this was my first French kiss. I felt clumsy and stupid but he soon started to lead me with his tongue, almost like a dance, and it was intoxicatingly sweet.
As our kissing got sweeter and heavier, I lost track of time and figuring out where I was. I barely noticed as he moved us so we were laying on our sides, facing each other, in the bed. He knew I wouldn't allow him to go further so all we did was kiss as he kept me close up against him, which was something I didn't mind at that point.
I jerked away when the door opened and I realized who was. Derek. He stared at us for a long time before speaking and, in a tone I had never heard him use before, "It's time for dinner." With that, he turned and closed the door quickly while he left.
I looked at Jason and he smiled a bit, kissing my cheek before taking my hand and leading me up and out of the room and towards the dining hall, I scanned nervously for their parents, who would undoubtedly aim a gun at my head after what I had done to them; letting a bunch of werewolves into their home.
"The folks are out, they'll be at a resort for a few months. It's just us... So you can stay as long as you need." I heard Jason say, causing me to look up at him in surprise. After what I had done, the last thing I suspected was for him to say I was welcome in his home. But it made me feel happy, knowing my friend didn't hate me, knowing he still liked me, even though it may be a little more then it should.
I then realized Derek was watching us from the corner of his eye, but when I caught him, he looked away almost spitefully. I frowned, a sick churning in my gut. What had I done to make him hate me? Okay, the werewolves was probably the main thing, but he had never looked at me with this kind of look, I couldn't make out what he was trying to say.
I sat down next to Jason, who had ordered pizza for the night. I felt my mouth water at the smell of the pizza, the sight of it was even better as I reached for a slice after both boys had taken their choosing. I was a guest, I wasn't going to be choosy and pick whichever I wanted first, it wasn't polite or how my parents raised me.
I sighed as Jason asked about what had happened to me afterwords. It wasn't like their was a safe house or anything that I needed to hide so I explained the parts about what had happened after I had woken up in the hospital. I suddenly remembered my wounded shoulder and touched my shoulder gingerly, the pain shooting back.
"Ow... Hey, do any of you know who shot me?" I asked, looking at them as they grew nervous. Jason looked at his brother before saying, "I did. I was trying to clip you to make you run, not wound you and throw you in the hospital, I'm sorry... I guess your wolves got some payback, they gave me the scar..." He muttered, though he kept his gaze intensely locked on Derek instead of looking at me, this made me frown a bit as I stared down at my feet.
"Oh, okay. I did let them into your house, sorry... I guess we're even." I said as my shoulder throbbed in pain. I suddenly realized the bandages were new... You had to take my shirt off to get to the wound... My face flushed red as I looked at both of them accusingly. "So which one of you pervs took off my shirt to fix me wound?"
Derek and Jason stared at me incredulously, the first time I'd seen Derek look straight at me all night.
"W-what?" Jason stammered, a bright red blush claiming his face.
Derek's gaze suddenly hardened and he growled, "Stop being such a brat, we didn't do anything. Jason saved you, I wanted to leave you there. The wound was infected. Get over yourself... I've seen prettier girls in which I might be interested in trying to pull something. You're still a child, Jane." He somehow made his words like razors and he managed to make my name sound like he was saying the most disgusting word in the dictionary and it had left a bad taste in his mouth.
I deflated instantly, shrinking back a bit and staring at the ground sadly, my wounded shoulder ached in protest but I didn't listen. I was shocked, and fairly hurt, I had never thought Derek would say something like that. I looked at Jason and frowned a bit, but kept his gaze away as he didn't speak at all.
I looked at him and said, "I'm just gonna head to bed now, that okay?" I waited for an answer but he just kept his gaze away from me as if I was completely invisible. I didn't say anything and I just stood and walked till I found a room I knew of as a guest room... I walked in and landed on the bed, unsure what was going on... I guessed I would have to leave in the morning... Certainly had no intention of over staying my welcome.
I looked at the bed and turned to lay on my side, unsure what else there was to do...
