A timid Asterpaw would be pretty cute, but I'm also interested in seeing his personality evolving as the story goes on, like how Rookpaw's did.

Well, he's technically the same as the rest of our protagonists (that is, the most common hair-length for a feral cat). That is up to your imagination, of course. He can be long or short-haired. As it stands in canon, it won't really make a difference.
