Favorite Dinosaur: Non-avian: Either Yi or Halszkaraptor (although Brachytrachelopan holds a special place in our heart just for being so ridiculous, and Yutyrannus is Very Important). Avian: Close tie between the kakapo, chicken, hoatzin, and pigeon.
When did your interest in dinosaurs start: According to our parents, possibly before we were even a toddler!
Other: We're autistic, and one of our main special interests throughout our life has been dinosaurs! We love them a lot.

why and how did you pick your favorite dinosaur? Is it their supposed appearance? The name?

or an alternative to the question above,
do you think the modern world would be able to handle dinosaurs? or would this turn into a jurassic park style event?
(specifically with our modern technology, if we were to create them would we be able to control/ handle them?
what might they be used for? )

for both of our faves, it's probably because of how weird they are!
Yi qi is a paravian, slightly bigger than a pigeon, with surprisingly simple feathers - its third finger is very elongated, and one of its wrist bones has turned into an elongated, finger-like support structure! it's believed that it had bat-like wings - very unusual for a dinosaur, since the vast majority of winged dinosaurs had feathered wings!! additionally, one of its relatives, Epidexipteryx hui, is one of the smallest known non-avian dinosaurs
Halszkaraptor escuilliei is a dromaeosaurid about the size of a duck, and it looks like a weird goose. that's not a lot compared to the ramble i just went on about Yi, but like. goose raptor. that's amazing. it's theorized to have occupied about the same niche, too (with less flying)

i don't think the modern world would be able to handle non-avian dinosaurs again. We hardly have any megafauna of our own left (oops, our bad) and the plant-life that is dominant now is a lot slower growing than ferns and fern like trees. The fast-growing stuff like grass requires a very different digestive system. Plus, they'd be pretty quickly out-competed by the mammals that are better suited to the modern habitats.

You might be able to bring back some stuff from the oceans but i doubt it.

agreed, but even that would be pushing it. i think there is a reason the dinosaurs dont exist with us and it should remain that way, no matter how much i love them and how much i would love to see them. if only herbivors could be brought back, that would be safer, but still they are huge and would be a lot to contain. there wouldnt be really any place for them to survive and prosper.
