Theory time! Spoilers up to Yesterday's Lie, select or quote to read:

[I've posted this elsewhere but there's been so many theories about Belos and Philip, like:]

• [Belos is Philip]
• [Belos is Philip's brother (who we know exists as of Yesterday's Lie)]
• [Belos is a direct descendant of either Philip or his brother]

[And general fandom consensus seems to be that Hunter is a "grimwalker", making him a sort of clone (most commonly theorized to be of either Belos or Philip's brother).]

[But I have a weird theory: "Philip" is actually Philip's brother who took on his identity after he arrived in the Demon Realm for reasons not yet known, and Belos is either him (with a prolonged life span) or a direct descendant, and Hunter is either a descendant or a grimwalker/clone of the real Philip.]

This seems a tad absurd and complicated, but this is TOH, a good chunk of the writers came from Gravity Falls which also did some pretty convoluted stuff, and I could also see them wanting to one-up the insanity of Steven Universe's big twist. Thoughts?
