But now it is late summer. There have been rumours and whispers but nothing definite. But the Consul has finally made a decision. There are no longer enough boys who wish to study the dark arts. Unless the school takes drastic measures, the school will close
The drastic measure they have chosen is this: They will have to open the school up to females. The first year or so will be an experiment; five or six girls of varying ages will be chosen. If they thrive, the school will become open to both genders, in time. If they fail, hundreds of years of magical power will be lost as Durmstrang crumbles.
