|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Arena|Tags: Aggy, Mirabelle |

If Juliet hadn't been put off balance by the initial charge, she would've been much more prepared for Aggy's cutlass. But alas, she noticed the blade all too late. She tried to dodge out of the way as usual, but she felt a sharp prick of pain in her lower abdomen. Still just a surface wound, but oh BOY did that hurt. NOT a fun place to get stabbed. Juliet knew that she didn't stand a chance against either demigod without playing dirty - there was only so much dodging she could do before she was hit. Thinking quickly, she kicked up a cloud of dirt towards Aggy's face and ran. She intended on ducking behind a training dummy and using it to her advantage, but the nagging pain in her abdomen caused her to lose focus quickly. Even if it was just a flesh wound, running with that area injured? Not fun in the slightest. Distracted, she blazed past the dummy she'd been aiming for, and crashed right into another one - or so she'd thought. Juliet quickly realised with a start that she'd slammed straight into Mirabelle. Both demigods tumbled to the ground in a puff of dust. Ever the quick thinker, Juliet made the most of this opportunity.

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Arena|Tags: Aggy, Juliet|

Mirabelle continued to run towards her fallen weapon, but was suddenly knocked off her feet once more. She'd barely seen Juliet coming until it was too late. Mirabelle tried to control her fall, twisting around to end up in a less vulnerable position - but Juliet had seen that coming. The daughter of Hermes body-slammed her mid-fall, leaving the two girls panting in a heap. Juliet's smug face was just inches from Mirabelle's. They locked eyes for a moment, and a torrent of old emotions came rushing back. With all of the adrenaline coursing through her veins, she could almost just... It was then that she noticed the dagger at her throat.
"Give up, Meercat, I've got you this time," Juliet whispered.
Mirabelle huffed in frustration but muttered an exasperated "fine, I yield." Juliet began straightening up, a gloating smirk on her face.
Mirabelle cursed herself for letting Juliet throw her off her game in the first place. Her decision to have only used one of her weapons had also cost her quite a bit - when armed with both a xiphos and a dagger, she was a deadly whirlwind of force. Not to mention that she was definitely out of practise when it came to the daughter of Hermes; it had been quite some time since they had last sparred. She didn't fail to notice that, in Juliet's haste to defeat her, the dirty blonde had left herself wide open to attack from Aggy.

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Walking through Camp|Tags: Skylar|

"Uh, like, maybe Juliet?" Chuck suggested, tugging on his goatee as he thought. "She's like, always ready to show off. No idea where she is, though. I think I, like, saw her getting breakfast this morning, but I haven't seen her since, you know?" He shifted on his hooves, considering where the rascally girl could be. "Chances are, she's like, totally getting into trouble somewhere," the satyr mused. "She like, usually does something big for all the summer campers. Prank-wise." He shook his head disapprovingly. "Unless she's like, busy or something. If she got distracted, there's no telling where she'd be, you know?" Chuck tapped his finger against his chin, glancing up at the sun. It was already high in the sky - it was later in the day than he thought. "Like, lunch should be soon, though, and she never misses that," he supplied. "At lunch, you can like, find her over at the Hermes table - but like, there are a lot of Hermes dudes, usually." Chuck was completely oblivious to the fact that he was rambling as he thought aloud. "You could like, always ask the other counselors too, you know?" he added, almost as an afterthought.

━ pippa diggery aphrodite tags: chuck, kade

Pippa offered Chuck a lazy wave of her hand as he headed off, a bit too fatigued to bring up the fact that he'd offered to help her out. There was no need right now, anyway. He seemed a bit busy, and it wasn't like they had all left Pippa to her own devices. After Chuck's warning, Pippa had a bit of a feeling that that wouldn't be the case, especially since she had commented on it, therefore bringing it to their attention. The amount of energy that had whirled around Pippa really did knock her out to some degree. She really was beginning to feel quite tired, although she was sure that was just a reaction due to the overwhelming sensations that had surpassed her original excitement.

Shoving one bag's straps up and onto her shoulder, Pippa watched Kade until he turned to head in a new direction. She followed behind slowly, allowing her gaze to snap between the path she was heading down and the scenery around her. The trees appeared ancient, yet never looked more alive. The grass was so green that Pippa was almost tempted to brush the tips of her fingers against it to make sure it was indeed real. Occasionally, a chilled breeze would sweep past her figure, and she was beginning to become quite thankful for the cardigan she'd decided to throw on upon her arrival.

Her eyes returned to Kade. He wasn't wearing anything out of the ordinary, and she was beginning to suspect camp uniforms weren't a thing. She'd once gone to a summer camp and the outfits they had to wear were absolutely atrocious, so she could deal with picking out her own clothes every day. Did they have any merch? Probably not, if they wanted to keep the camp quiet. Once again, though, that didn't bother Pippa in the slightest. She didn't want to be forced to wear gross, over-used clothing. She was quite happy with her own things.

A sweet smell filled her nostrils as they carried onward, and her eyes lit up in delight at the sight of the fields off into the distance. Strawberries, if she was correct. She used to go strawberry picking with her dad as a younger girl, so the sight of them felt rather comforting to her. A smile lingered on her face as she carried on behind Kade, unsure of where exactly he was leading her to. As far as she could tell, it seemed as though the campground was never-ending.

━ samuel malfrid • nemesis • tags: hunter

Goodness, this was beginning to feel rather dreadful, wasn't it? Samuel wasn't exactly sure if Hunter had approached him because he had something he wanted to say, but the way he awkwardly stared in silence was beginning to make Samuel himself feel uncomfortable. What was he supposed to say? It wasn't he who approached the guy, after all. If Hunter had wanted to stir up a casual conversation, Sam didn't really believe he was doing the greatest job either, considering the fact that he was giving pretty short responses, and nothing to return to Sam.

"Ah," he responded simply with a raise of his brows in acknowledgment of Hunter's words. He drummed his fingers against the thick bark, tilting his head back with a casual hum as he settled more comfortably against the tree. Deciding it was best to wait for Hunter to get to the point of things, for nobody approached another human-being without having a reason behind it, Samuel simply settled for silence, allowing his gaze to rake across the tops of the trees and to the welcoming blue sky. Anywhere but on Hunter. He knew personally he felt more pressured to say anything when he had an intense pair of eyes on him, so why force that upon the other? Samuel himself was rather impatient, and staring the guy down would do very little for the both of them. So he settled on waiting.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson|Female|Unknown (Ares)|Location: Arena|tags: Mirabelle, Juliet

Aggy gritted her teeth, as she learned almost instantaneously that that was not how adrenaline works. Still, she managed to make impact on the scruffy girl, causing her to pull another trick. Aggy coughed as the dust engulfed her, throwing up her free hand to cover her eyes, and feeling warm blood run down her face instead.
As the arena dirt started to settle, she heard Juliet make impact with something and pulled her hand from her face, brushing off the excess blood as she did so. Mirabelle, who was going after her xiphos, now lay pinned under Juliet, a blade pressed to her throat. Well if that's how it's gonna be... Aggy crept up, avoiding Juliet's line of sight. Juliet sat up, and Aggy reached out to caress her neck with the cutlass.
"Don't worry, it's pretty dull, but I do have a question, Tumbleweed," She said, enjoying this perhaps a little too much. "Say I press in, and like, I don't know, hit your spinal cord or something. Does that count as maiming?" She said sweetly, confident in her win, and completely disregarding the other blonde.

Ophelia Rogers|Female|Aphrodite|Location: Cabins ---> Half-Blood Hill/gate|tags: Emerson (mentioned), open
Ophelia left the cabin, trying not to run to start running toward the gate as she realized that most the new blood had already arrived, -drat it!- and wouldn't be prime for making an impression on.
Instead she strode gracefully, still covering the ground quite quickly. She had to force herself not to check on her third eye as she walked, knowing searching fingers would only claw through her morning's work.
She stood by the gate, looking out for prey. Something moved from far off, and she held a hand over her eyes, trying to make the form out.
A lone camper approached, carrying several bags and was that a cat carrier?
She grinned, and waved wildly, but saved her breath until they were in hearing range.
They reached the gate, but didn't seem to see her yet, instead looking longingly at the already gathered campers. Ophelia felt a pang of empathy, as she too had once been in this position, and stepped forward, calling out "Hello! First timer?" With a kindly smile, the third eye she had painted on to gain fear slipping her mind....

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Arena|Tags: Aggy, Mirabelle |

Juliet put her hands up, dropping her dagger next to her. Getting beaten by a newbie? Man, I'm never gonna live this down, am I? She certainly thought about trying to wriggle out of the situation, but the younger girl's blade at her throat was rather... distracting. Besides - one false move and that cutlass could bite right into her neck. And Aggy sounded rather serious when she was describing Juliet's spinal cord. The dirty blonde's need for self-preservation won over her pride. "Fine, you got me," she admitted. "No funny business or anything." Her eyes slid over to Mirabelle, who was strangely making no move to retrieve her weapon. If Juliet didn't know any better, she would've thought the other blonde looked stunned. Turning her attention back to her impending doom, the daughter of Hermes let out a relatively nervous laugh. "Yeah, that would definitely count as maiming," she managed. "Now can you let me go? I'd like to survive at least until lunch."

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Arena|Tags: Aggy, Juliet|

Mirabelle scrambled back, attempting to distance herself from the situation as her mind spun. Did I just - did she just - we almost - Her mind was a mess of scrambled thoughts. She was mortified, frustrated, distressed, confused, and invigorated all at once. Her emotions were so overwhelming that she felt like she was overheating. The adrenaline definitely was not helping; her heart seemed like it was about to burst right out of her chest. She thanked the gods that no one could see her blushing under her helmet. Clearing her throat in an uncharacteristically awkward motion, Mirabelle finally pushed herself to her feet. She briskly walked over to pick up her fallen weapon, but simply capped it once it was retrieved. "Good show, everyone," she huffed. "I don't know about you, but I'm done. I'd like to get changed before lunch." She pulled off her helmet and slung it under her arm as she made a beeline towards her bag, muttering something under her breath about needing a cold shower.

k.t 1 - camp

Postby senna_ » Fri Dec 04, 2020 12:31 pm

━ kenna tate • poseidon • tags: open

Kenna stretched her fingers up towards the ceiling of her cabin, allowing a lazy yawn to escape her jaws. Her dark eyes drifted out towards the small window, and she peered outside. The sun was shining brightly, contentedly welcoming both newcomers and returners into the camp. She had decided on a simple salmon pink t-shirt dress, but was hesitant and went back to grab a jean jacket, wrapping it around her legs. As much as Kenna enjoyed the sunshine, she always found she was cold, ironically enough. The jacket was a just-in-case accessory. She didn't need to run back to the cabin in a few hours to warm herself up. Welcoming Day was always the most fun day.

Removing herself from the stuffy cabin, her newest book tucked carefully under her arm, Kenna inhaled the fresh morning air as she did every morning, appreciating the freshness, which woke her up instantly. She took in a breath, then began to walk. Her gaze skitted around the grounds, observing, as per usual. Though, also as per usual, nothing exciting seemed to be going down. Some people had already found their way to armory station, harmlessly swishing a sword or flicking an arrow at a wooden target. Some were browsing the fields, others simply strolling. Some were empty-handed and others had a good handful of bags to carry along. A half-smile played at her pale lips, but she didn't cut her path short. If someone needed help, surely they would have it known.

She found herself strolling towards the strawberry fields, but didn't attempt to change directions. She settled herself down by one of the willow trees, placing Gods and Heroes of the Greeks: The Library of Apollodorus by her side. Some had snickered and considered her an absolute nerd for siding with more research-based paperbacks, but Kenna liked it. She liked having the knowledge of anything and everything, especially based around the origins of her camp. Settling back with a contented sigh, Kenna peeled back the book cover, then drew her gaze to the tiny words on the page. Today was going to be a good day.

Aggy chuckled, and let Juliet go, but kept her blade at the ready. "Wait!" Aggy called out to the fleeing girl. "Will the ambrosia stuff fix this?" She held out a hand, still gushing with blood, though it had slowed a bit. Noticing the blood that had smeared itself all over her, Aggy pressed her hand into a dry spot on her pants and added, "Where are the showers?" Her voice almost shaking. The cut hadn't been that deep...

Henry "Hank" David Walker|Male|Apollo|Location: Dining Pavilion|tags: Izzy, open!

Nah, he looks preoccupied, Hank thought to himself, deciding to ignore the battered boy. He finished his food, and walked to the brazers to send a small offering to his dad. When he reached it, he couldn't find the words, so he just frowned and tossed it in, Izzy at his heels. He watched the flames take hold of the second hard-boiled egg, hesistantly running tentrils over it, then catching light in a bright, bold flame before disappearing.
The offerings always burn brightest just before the end. Just like a demigod. He winced at thought, and shook himself as if to drive it's essence away. Still memories tore at him. Faces of campers that he'd seen one summer and not the next. One in particular, a girl with a mop of tangled black hair and the brightest eyes he'd ever seen, laughing as the firelight made her skin glow.
This time he pulled himself out harder and left the brazer, Izzy at his side. "How about we go for a walk." He said airly to the dog, and started ambling toward the strawberry fields.

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Leaving Arena|Tags: Aggy, Juliet|

Mirabelle was about to strip off her armour when Aggy brought up the ambrosia. She dropped her helmet into the bag and turned to face the younger girl. "Oh - yes, it should fix that right up," she informed her. She seemed a bit concerned, but otherwise unfazed as she dove back into her bag. She retrieved a small ziploc bag with a few small cubes of the substance inside. "Smaller injuries only take a little bit," she informed Aggy, breaking off a piece of one of the cubes. She offered it to the other girl before reluctantly doing the same to Juliet, saving a bit for herself as well. "Be careful with ambrosia and nectar, though," she warned. "Eating too much can burn you up from the inside out, or so I've been told. We can ingest it because we're demigods - any mortal would simply turn to dust." The decadent flavour of crème brûlée overwhelmed her tastebuds as she daintily placed the ambrosia in her mouth. Despite the nostalgic memories the taste brought back, she started to feel a little less confused. The pain between her shoulderblades was quickly subsiding - she figured the wound was closing up. "I can show you to the showers, if you'd like. Gods know we could all use it after sparring." Mirabelle started to strip off her armour, neatly placing it in her duffel bag as she spoke.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Leaving Arena|Tags: Aggy, Mirabelle |

Juliet slumped forward when Aggy released her, massaging her neck where the cold metal of the blade had lay only moments before. She pushed herself to her feet, wordlessly accepting a small piece of ambrosia from Mirabelle. She popped it into her mouth. It tasted of homemade popcorn, the kind Juliet would much on when watching old movies with her stepdad. A smile formed on her face at the pleasant memory. Mirabelle's soft voice brought her back to the present. Juliet lifted an armpit, making a face at the stench from the sweat she'd undoubtedly worked up. "Showers. Showers sound great." She hurriedly took off her armour, throwing it piece by piece into her bag with little care for neatness. When she'd finished, she slung her bag over her shoulder. Mirabelle did the same, gesturing for the two to follow her. Juliet more than happily obliged.

    Poppy ️✿ Rye
    16, She/Her
    Demeter
    Stables
    @Open
    #SorryArgus #GotCarrots?
Practically skipping out of the cargo van, Poppy was relived and excited to be home - well back at Camp, which was practically home. She'd spent enough summers there and had officially signed on as a year-rounder this year. A car door slammed behind her, the driver of the Camp Half-Blood van sneezing violently. The teenager twirled on the spot to look at the many eyed Argus, who's every visible orb was seeping, red, and blinking. "I am so sorry Argus!" Poppy couldn't help but look momentarily abashed. The entire drive into the city for the strawberry delivery run and back - the giant hadn't stopped sneezing and weeping due to a pollen allergy. He cradled a box of tissues in his arms, dapping at his many eyes as he beat a hasty retreat as far away from Demeter's daughter as he could.

She felt bad, she really did. It had started out as a normal day - waking up early to the lovely songbirds, loading the cargo van with the fruit supplies, and heading off from the Long Island camp towards the farmer's market to sell the latest stock of strawberries. Unfortunately for poor Argus - Poppy was unwittingly radiating wildflower pollen, which in turn made the giant experience the worst case of allergies for the entire duration of their trip. His sneezing fits had almost gotten them into multiple car accidents. The teenager had a feeling she wouldn't be seeing Argus for a long time (probably not until the absolute dead of winter) and probably wouldn't be asked back to do a fruit drop off for a while - which was an absolute bummer because she loved the farmer's market.

Her ankle length green linen skirt swirled around her legs as she made her way from the big house back towards her cabin. The strappy sandals she wore weren't suitable for the stable yard, her absolute favorite place at Camp (closely followed by the strawberry fields, gardens, Demeter Cabin, Lake, Dining Hall, Halfblood Hill, Woods, Artemis Cabin...). Sweeping into her cabin, she quickly swapped her shoes out, opting for her sturdy brown cowboy boots, and off she went. Poppy was a bit oblivious to the going-ons around her, besides the typical camp sounds (weapons clashing against armor, campers shouting greetings, and Chiron attempting to control the chaos), she failed to take in more meaning to the sights and sounds around her.

With her rainbow streaked hair barely contained in a braided crown, a too-big tie-dyed Camp tee knotted at her waist (held by a hair elastic) Poppy was never concerned much with her appearances. It was a great day when she didn't have a smudge of dirt on her freckled face, and her hair was typically adorned with fresh wildflowers woven through (Argus had protested that accessory). Picking up her stride, she slipped into a skipping gait, preferring to get to the barn sooner than later. Her boots thudded against the ground with every step. Her dark green eyes lighting up when she spotted the grazing herd. A favorite horse easily spotted in the lush grass, a palomino draft cross named Merry. She nimbly slipped between the wooden fence boards, pausing for but a moment to grow a carrot, before hurrying up to the golden horse.

Wispy hairs and agile lips wriggled over her palm looking for more offered goodies, "Sorry girl, I only made one!" Poppy offered a wither scratch before hugging the mare's neck and making her way up to the stable. Barn chores came before riding, and she wanted to knock them out quickly and get on to the fun part: Riding!

    Ben Asher
    18, He/Him
    Hephaestus
    Big House
    @Open (Counselors?)
Coming out of the woods, face dripping sweat and his arm muscles bulging due to his incredibly firm grip on his battle hammer. Ben's dark eyes were storming as his latest encounter was both puzzling and causing a huge boost in adrenaline. His stride was purposeful as he made his way towards the Big House; this was important and potentially a war council needed to be called. At least a talk with Chiron was needed. Trying to steady his breathing with measured exhales, he reviewed the day's events thus far so he could give a fair account to the Camp's mentor and perhaps if Mr. D was in, to the Camp Director as well.

The strange happenings hard started after he had locked Bunker 9 and was enroute through the woods to return to the Camp Forge. First he had felt the wisps of cooler air blowing through the forest; Ben hadn't given it much thought as summer storms were frequent in the area. Then he noticed the patches of sunlight glistened a bit extra along the path, a closer examination showed the dew had frosted over, the ice crystals sparkling in the diluted sun. The temperature dropped considerably as he made his way farther down the path - unusual as he was making his way out of the forest instead of deeper. A hush fell over the woods, the symphony of songbirds and insects had quieted to absolute silence, even the rustle of leaves had stopped. To say it was eerie would be an understatement; a shiver ran down the young man's spine, the tingling sensation of being watched caused him to draw out his heavy hammer and prepare for a fight.

Out of the dark shadows of the trees came a lumbering beast, its shape held only by the suggestion of falling snow. At first it was only the outline of something large - then became more defined as the mini blizzard gathered within the apparition. The bear, or rather the polar bear lifted its snout, seeming to catch wind of the son of Hephaestus, turning to face him. Never having been in a stand off with either a polar bear or a snow globe - Ben was a bit uncertain of how to react. His stance was one well practiced - knees flexed, feet apart ready to spring away or charge into a fight, hand curled around his hammer ready to be wiped into action at an aggressive sign from the beast.

The bear scented the air again, pinpointing his beady snow eyes at Ben, before snorting loudly and sending out a warning grunt. Knowing his best chance is to slowly back away, Ben takes a few strides back, his eyes not leaving the snowy vision. Apparently it was the wrong move, as the polar bear roars loudly and charges towards him. With great clashing paws, it strikes out at him - bursting into a flurry of snow flakes as it hits him; the force sending the stocky male to his knees and leaving slashes in his stained camp shirt at the shoulders.

Taking the Big House porch steps three at a time, the Hephaestus camper pounded at the door hoping that Chiron was available.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson|Female|Unknown (Ares)|Location: Arena|tags: Mirabelle, Juliet

Aggy took the ambrosia cautiously, trying to avoid coating it too with blood. She watched the others eat it, and popped her piece into her mouth also.
It tasted so good! Like one of cookies her grandmother would bake. Tassies, She clarified, her eyes going round as she chewed slowly to preserve the flavor. The memories came rushing back of her grandma's warm kitchen, pulling a tray of the blessed mini-pies just out of Aggy's reach with an exasperated sigh. "Oh Aggy, is it always a fight with you?" She'd ask, but let Aggy steal a still warm cookie anyway and tear into it's gooey center.
Do the others taste it too? She wondered, pulling herself back to the present to peer at them, but they had already moved onto working off their armour. She barely registered that her hand had knit itself back together. She put her sword down and began pulling hers off too.
It came off quickly, only three pieces, all slick with sweat and blood. She ran an rm through the breast plate, and tucked the cuffs in between her arm and side. She picked her sword back up, and plunged it through her shorts pocket, which held it unsteadily as she made the new seam. I'll need a scabbard for it. She thought as it bumped against her leg.
"I guess I should clean these up before returning them." Aggy said, nodding at the dirty armour pieces and followed the authoratative blonde.

Henry "Hank" David Walker|Male|Apollo|Location: Walking toward strawberry fields, by cabins atm|tags: Izzy, open!

Hank sighed contentedly, enjoying his father's sun on his skin as he strode toward the decadant fields. Izzy was only too happy to pad alongside, snapping at a passing butterfly that came in range of her head. He pulled out his hunting knife and idly played with it as he walked. The sharp blade occasionally grazed his skin, but he hardly noticed as it was quick to repair itself.
He hummed as he walked, lost in thought as he passed the cabins. Memories that don't end in blood...good memories, you can do this! He wrinkled his brow in concentration, trying to drag himself out of the haze of things he tried not to remember.
Ah, here's one! Hank recalled, trying to smile along to the time he'd found Izzy a sunlit patch in the woods, as if he wasn't severly preoccupied.
