Others have brought up really good points, it feels like this mostly affects good faith traders and guide makers, while the actual scammers basically get off scott-free as long as they change up the names. I don't think this was very well thought out. (And yes, scammers. Let's call them what they are, if half the site knows them by name and they've been reported countless times, at what point do you admit they're scamming.)

'old rare' as a term of value being banned is a joke,
its not even a term of value its describing a rare that is old

i think they just want people to switch to 2010/2011 rares? some people reading might not understand old rare and assume 2014 was 10 years ago thats old enough? I don't have much issue with the old rare part being x'ed

really glad to hear that staff is going to be cracking down more on scammers and ninjas. im curious as to whether this will be applied retroactively or not, considering i myself have been taken advantage of since returning from a 10 year hiatus, and my friend who joined recently got several ninja attempts around december 18th.

i think the terminology change is not bad actually, although i do expect it may cause a little chaos in the short term and i understand peoples reactions just skimming through the thread so far. no one is being prevented from using terms like ma/non/old rare personally, its just that guides are required to use their own terminology. afaik oreozhere's script just bases most of its data off horror's guide, so im sure once horror updates the script can do that too, and all it would need then (i assume) is to state that its specifically based off horror's (or others, idk, whichever way around they decide to do things haha).
new users have to get accommodated with trading regardless, so i dont think it will make a huge difference for new people after this point. i do think in the long run this will prevent some of the more prolific scammers from taking advantage of existing ma/non/old rare terminology and pretending its kind of 'backed up' by horrors guide, which is absolutely a problem ive been seeing.

if i can make a suggestion, i think it would be really helpful both for new users to be given specific warnings or being pointed towards the trading guides forum for maybe the first 6 months or something after joining (if that doesnt happen already, i have no idea lol).
it would also be really good to get even a general idea of pet numbers and pets in circulation. i understand why staff wouldnt want to release it, but that kind of information could be extremely useful for those trying to make guides in the future - number/circulation is one of the only 'objective' metrics outside of date and rarity that could be used to determine values, but we cant currently see those stats :(

{ I'm ECSTATIC to see these terms finally going away when every guide and then every trader out there uses them to mean different things. with a change this big now maybe instead of 20 different trade guides everyone will put their heads together to make one solid set of values which will faster weed out scammers. I hope staff plans to bring the hammer down on known scammers with this change as well. ♡

I am as well just because nobody has been able to fully explain to me (or many other players I know) what a "mid advent" even is. People will always try to scam others, I feel like this will kind of start to help players who haven't been able to figure this player-made system out.

I'm not really understanding...I never really understood the value of MA or Non. If someone could break it down to simpler terms , basically I would like to know how many pets of a certain rarity are needed to buy/trade for certain pets.

Ohhh boy I can’t wait for this update to be withdrawn! I don’t think this will do anything constructive for the community and this will end up working out negatively for community members and staff alike <333 have so much fun

The fact that yall felt the need to differentiate 'Ninja'ing' vs 'Scamming' says a lot on its own. There was no need for the removal of MA and NON value systems unless staff intends to implement universal terms backed by staff, or better yet added as a standard in the trading forum rules.

yeah honestly I thought they were going to implement their own system, then I kept reading...

I believe this will cause more confusion for new folks and even older.

Some other popular system will just take its place then we'll be right back to square one

Mid advent was a part of a old list and is now just used as a form of measurement to classify the different value of the more sought after pets, think about it like its a measuring cup, you don't only have cups you have teaspoons and tablespoons its just ment to show difference between smaller and bigger now
