The Flying Tree Snake has five species in its group, and all of them are able to glide through the air! They can flatten their ribcage and then as they undulate they create a lift effect to keep them airborne and off to their next destination. Pictured above by Vince Adam is a Borneo Paradise Flying Snake. They’re all vibrant colored, but each species is unique in coloring so it’s not hard to distinguish which is which. And it’s super cool to see a vertebrate able to flatten itself out fully and, well… fly, so to speak! To the skies, little snake friend!
